Mixed martial arts franchise One Championship has come on board “The Beast in Me,” a sports action film starring Russell Crowe and Daniel MacPherson (“Land of Bad,” “Foundation”).
In the film, MacPherson plays an out-of-work former Mma fighter who suffers a personal tragedy involving his brother. With the help of a veteran trainer played by Crowe, he sets out to avenge his brother by coming out of retirement to compete in One Championship.
The film is produced by the U.S.-based Broken Open Pictures and is to be directed by Tyler Atkins (writer-director of “Ocean Boy”). International rights to the film are represented by the Los Angeles-based Solution Entertainment Group.
Production is set to begin later this year and extend into early 2025. Among the locations will be Bangkok, Thailand’s Impact Arena, where One’s Friday Fights live event on Jan. 24 will be the setting for a key scene.

Luke Hemsworth and Rasmus King aren’t to blame for the problems in this film, about a surfing drug dealer and his son who are forced to move after a bushfire
Having amassed bad debts and upset the wrong people, a protagonist with a habit of making poor decisions goes on the run and relocates to a small town, hoping to start afresh – until the past inevitably catches up. This evergreen story trajectory is once again rehashed, in Tyler Atkins’ cloying and sometimes flat-out cheesy film Bosch & Rockit. Opening with the words “inspired by true events”, Atkins goes on to demonstrate why these words tend to mean very little: a well-crafted, entirely fictitious feature can feel much more plausible than a goofily executed one – like Bosch & Rockit – claiming some connection to reality.

Screenworks is the latest organisation to partner with Netflix to boost skills within the industry, announcing today it will provide free training for up-and-coming practitioners in northern Nsw.
Backed by a $500,000 investment from the streamer, and supported by the Nsw Government, the Regional Crew Development Program also incorporates placements and work experience on productions with the goal of creating new career pathways in the field.
Screenworks chief executive Ken Crouch told If the initiative had been in the works since the beginning of the year when Netflix was preparing to shoot God’s Favourite Idiot in the Northern Rivers.
“We were helping them to get as many locals as possible employed on that production at the time,” he said.
“A conversation about skill gaps came up and we talked about what we would really love to do to make an impact in regional Australia.”
