North of Spain, at the end of the 19th century, during the final throes of the last Carlist war, a little girl is rescued from an orphanage by a mysterious woman after it's destroyed by a bomb. Wounded and close to death, the girl believes the woman is an angel coming to take her to Heaven. Soon, however, she discovers that this strange being has given her is the gift of eternal life by turning her into a vampire.

Art on film

This is a great drama about a girl coming to terms with the death of her loved ones as she is gifted immortality. The vampire theme is used to drive the story and not just add shock value. I personally loved the film as its a breath of fresh air just be warned its not a horror movie. The musical score was exceptionally gorgeous! I wish there was a little bit more character development between Maia and the boy she met to help flesh out emotions more but overall 7/10.
