Featured review
The Kremos family produced two generations of famous acrobats from about 1880 through the 1930s. They originally hailed from Switzerland and in all, about twenty-five of them were acrobats and one was a juggler.
There were three short films showing the family doing their act, all filmed in 1899. This one shows some of the youngsters dressed in breech clouts. Some of them form a human pyramid while others leap about. I can't tell where this was shot, but they perform in front of a small palm tree, probably to give a better sense of scale.
This being a Lumiere short, even though the action takes place within a constrained section of the frame, the variety of movement, both in speed and direction, keeps the eye moving about the frame.
