Here Are All the Songs in Lena Dunham’s ‘Too Much’
Image
Lena Dunham is making her return to TV with Netflix’s “Too Much,” which comes with a soundtrack perfect for both crash outs and healing moments.

“Too Much” follows Jessica (Megan Stalter), an American who moves to London after a devastating breakup and meets Felix (Will Sharpe), a charming British musician — mirroring Dunham’s own experience of meeting her husband, British musician Luis Felber. So, it’s only fitting that Felber, who also serves as a writer and executive producer on the show, heads up music alongside Matt Allchin.

From party hits like “London Bridge” by Fergie, “Tap In” by Saweetie and “Girls” by the Dare to tender ballads like “Praying” by Kesha and “Slow Like Honey” by Fiona Apple, “Too Much” has something for everyone.

Episode 1: “Nonsense & Sensibility”

“London Bridge” by Fergie “Dead or Alive (feat. Jimmy Jones)” by Cam’ron “Slow Like Honey” by Fiona Apple

Anson Mount Wanted Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' Riskiest Moment To Feel Uncomfortable
Image
In the first episode of "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds," which is simply titled "Strange New Worlds," Captain Pike (Anson Mount) is assigned to the planet Kiley 279 to finesse a teetering effort to engage in First Contact. In the world of "Star Trek," Starfleet has a strict hands-off policy when it comes to worlds that haven't yet developed faster-than-light travel. Right when a planet is about to develop such a technology, though, Starfleet officers usually go undercover to subtly introduce themselves to the world's rulers and tell them that they are about to join a giant galactic community of peaceful aliens.

In "Strange New Worlds," Pike has to put on some alien-looking prosthetics and go to Kiley 279 to rescue a missing crew mate while, perhaps, smoothing over the planet's turbulent, unfolding history. It seems that Kiley recently witnessed the U.S.S. Discovery, something that shouldn't have happened, and its...

Black Clover Season 5: My Favorite Magna Moment Is Yet to Make It to the Anime
Image
It’s been four years since Black Clover aired its last episode, and I’m tired beyond reason of manifesting season 5. All of my favourite moments from the manga are yet to be animated, and the waiting time is getting next to impossible.

The Spade Kingdom Invasion is one of my favourite arcs, and Studio Pierrot did it the greatest injustice by never completely adapting it. Of course, the studio’s hands were tied due to the lack of source material, but there’s no excuse for not completing the arc now! Otherwise, I might grow white hair before ever watching my favorite Magna Swing moment in action.

My favourite Magna moment in Black Clover deserves better Magna Swing’s battle against Dante needs to be animated asap | Credits: Pierrot Spoiler Alert !!!Manga-only spoilers for Spade Kingdom Invasion arc

Magna Swing is one of the most underrated Black Bull members in Black Clover.

Make Sure To Turn Off This Feature In Marvel Rivals When Playing As Spider-Man Or Venom
Image
As you play Spider-Man or Venom for the first time in Marvel Rivals, you may notice the web-swinging abilities of either character can feel awkward. This is likely due to a hidden mechanic for both characters being turned on by default in the game's settings. To swing with more accuracy and precision throughout every map, you'll want to turn this feature off when playing as these wall crawlers.

Spider-Man in Marvel Rivals has multiple web-swings he can perform before a cooldown, while Venom only has one. For both characters, this skill is essential for how they move around on a map and surprise enemy teams with good positioning. However, you can't aim for precise spots on the map to web-swing from if you have a hidden feature called "Easy Swing" active in your settings.

Quick Links Easy Swing Makes It Difficult To Swing Around The Map Good For Beginners, Bad...

Kevin Costner's Forgotten 2008 Election Comedy Sparked A Weird Lawsuit
Image
Election Day, aka the most fraught, divisive, and anxiety-inducing time of American politics, is almost upon us once again ... and Hollywood, as always, tends to offer up the perfect distraction (like this past episode of "SNL"). Then again, I suppose that depends on your definition of "perfect." In August of 2008, while then-Presidential nominees Barack Obama and John McCain battled it out in a heated race that would go on to define the next decade-plus of global diplomacy and policymaking, "Yellowstone" star Kevin Costner and co-leads Paula Patton and Kelsey Grammer were busy starring in arguably one of the most misguided pieces of political entertainment until Adam McKay decided he was the right person to write and direct 2018's "Vice." "Swing Vote" tells the story of how one random, apolitical citizen (Costner) inexplicably becomes the deciding vote in the entire Presidential election, with both major parties fighting to earn his endorsement.

Mike Flanagan Explains Casting Loki's Tom Hiddleston for New Stephen King Movie
Image
Mike Flanagan often casts actors he has worked with before in new projects, and his upcoming film is no different. However, for the lead of his latest Stephen King movie, The Life of Chuck, the filmmaker chose Tom Hiddleston.

The Loki actor is set to make his debut in the Flanaverse in the upcoming adaptation of King's 2020 novella from the collection If It Bleeds. The Life of Chuck's cast consists of no less than 15 frequent Mike Flanagan collaborators, but the director explained why he chose Hiddleston as his lead in a new interview with Vanity Fair. The filmmaker also weighed in on the possibility of casting a newcomer but eventually opted to cast Hiddleston.

‘Aew: Collision’ Review (Jun 1st 2024)
Image
Welcome to this week’s review of Aew’s latest television show, Collision, which brings wrestling back to Saturday nights! We’ve got the commentary team of Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness calling the action, so let’s get into the review!

Match #1: Roderick Strong def. Lio Rush The following is courtesy of allelitewrestling.com:

Roddy chopped and stomped at Lio, swarming Lio in the corner. Roddy blasted Lio with another chop and then a suplex, looking to make a statement after his title loss to Will Ospreay at Double or Nothing. Outside the ring Matt Taven taunted Lio, putting Lio’s entrance jacket on. Lio rocketed outside the ring with two tope suicidas to Roderick Strong. Roddy rallied back with a back breaker, yanking Lio off the turnbuckles. Roddy followed up with an Olympic Slam for a near fall. Lio stunned Roderick with a kick to the head.

Oscar Micheaux Is the Black Trailblazing Filmmaker You Need to Know — Film Forum Is Here to Show You Why
Image
Oscar Micheaux is a trailblazing American filmmaker whose name and fandom — including Spike Lee and the late John Singleton — are better known than his groundbreaking films. A festival opening in New York on Friday, May 3, at Film Forum aims to fix that.

Though competition is steep in the New York film space, with 17 films and several curated special events, “Oscar Micheaux and the Birth of Black Independent Cinema” is designed to make history. Seven films on the schedule are new restorations of the original prints. Some screenings will be accompanied by live musical performances, much like when silent films were originally exhibited in the 1910s and 1920s. On May 5, there’s also a tribute for the recently deceased author and filmmaker Pearl Bowser, a pivotal architect of the renaissance Micheaux’s work now enjoys. The lineup also boasts conversations with DJ Spooky (aka Paul Miller), who composed new scores for...

Law and Order Season 25: What You Need To Know
Image
Law & Order: Svu has endured for 24 Seasons with a 25th on the way. Olivia Benson has remained one of the longest-running primetime TV characters and confronted a dark world of crime never shown on TV. Law & Order: Svu's mature topics have changed television forever and continue to change the lives of its viewers after over 20 Seasons.

On September 20, 1999, NBC premiered a new show that was a spinoff from the wildly successful Law & Order. The first spinoff in the Law & Order franchise, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, was centered around Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), Detective Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), and their colleagues in the NYPD's 16th precinct. While Wolf Entertainment and NBC anticipated good things from the show, no one could have predicted how Svu would change not just television but also the rhetoric around sexual assault and domestic violence. Countless viewers also...

Taylor Swift Just Shattered AMC’s Record for Single-Day Presales
Image
To borrow — and alter — an Eminem punchline: Taylor Swift breaks so many records that each new claim sounds like a broken record. This time, Swift’s “The Eras Tour” concert film has broken AMC Theatres’ record for single-day advance ticket sales revenue.

Taylor attracted $26 million on Thursday, besting the previous record set by “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” The 2021 animated Spidey flick netted $16.9 million in its own first-day presale web.

It’s important to point out that Swift’s film set adult tickets at $19.89, a reference to her “1989” album and world tour (and the singer/songwriter’s birth year); the “No Way Home” tickets were just regular market price. When “Spider-Man: No Way Home” swung into theaters, the average U.S. ticket price at an AMC theatre was $11.50, according to company filings.

That’s not a shot at Swift’s huge sales. It took her less than three hours to pass...

‘Heart of Stone’ Review: Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan Tangle in Familiar but Diverting Netflix Spy Thriller
Image
Netflix tries muscling in on the Mission: Impossible game with the adrenaline-charged spy thriller Heart of Stone, built as a vehicle for Gal Gadot (one of the producers) to swap superheroics for a more earthbound combo of brains, tech savvy, instinct and formidable fight skills. While it’s a few notches up from the Wonder Woman star’s last action romp for the streamer, Red Notice, it feels only marginally less manufactured from the spare parts of other movies. But it gets the job done and is sure to pull solid numbers. It doesn’t hurt that Gadot has appealing chemistry with co-star Jamie Dornan.

The timing seems mildly unfortunate given that the most recent M:i installment, Dead Reckoning, hit theaters only a month ago and also revolves around a risibly named AI mega-brain, “The Entity,” which nefarious forces are angling to control.

In Heart of Stone, that all-powerful cyber tool is called “The Heart,...

Image
By the end of this week’s Outlander, two Fraser men are in very bad straits, with no clear rescue in sight.

“Well, actually, Jem is a MacKenzie,” you just thought. Ok, Ok — two men with Fraser blood coursing through their adventurous, often-in-peril bodies are left in seriously worrisome ways as we head into next week’s midseason finale. The aforementioned Jeremiah has been kidnapped by Rob Cameron (whom we all kinda knew was a tartan trash bag, right?), and Jamie closes the episode face-down on a field following the first Battle of Saratoga.

Squid Share Origins of New Song “The Blades”: Exclusive
Image
Origins is a recurring series that gives artists a space to break down everything that went into their latest release. Today, British post-punkers Squid take us through their latest single, “The Blades.”

Squid have returned with the latest single from the upcoming O Monolith, “The Blades.” The post-rock-inspired, experimental post-punk track comes complete with a video directed by Kasper Häggström and starring Charlotte Ritchie.

The tune evokes the high-strung, tense art rock of Hail to the Thief-era Radiohead, fusing classic art-punk instrumentals with sprawling electronics and blistering horns. It builds itself up only to crumble before offering any sense of catharsis, and all the while, vocalist Ollie Judge offers perhaps his most dynamic performance yet.

“The song is written from the perspective of a police helicopter pilot called out to a protest and going a bit mad with power,” Judge explains. “The song ends with him in bed being tormented...

Image
True crimes have taken over television and streaming, with various series based on true stories becoming the most watched on different networks and platforms. Seizing the moment, Peacock shared the first trailer for Based on a True Story, its new series that satirizes the genre.

Just as productions like Scream did, and continue to do with horror movies, the new original series on the NBC Universal platform seeks to expose the public's obsession with this type of stories, which has led to overwhelming successes like The Staircase, The Girl from Plainville, The Act or Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, which has already announced the first details of its second season.

Earlier this month, Peacock shared the first-look images at the show starring Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory), Chris Messina (Air), Tom Bateman (Death on the Nile), Priscilla Quintana (Good Trouble), Liana Liberato (Scream 6), Natalia Dyer (Stranger Things), Alex Alomar Akpobome...

First Time Emmy Winner Sheryl Lee Ralph Has A Legendary Broadway Background
Image
After Sheryl Lee Ralph was announced as the Emmy Award winner for her role as Barbara Howard on "Abbott Elementary," she took to the stage and immediately began singing her face off — belting out the song "Endangered Species" by Dianne Reeves. As she held out a perfect note, completely enrapturing the audience, cheers erupted from the Emmy attendees, and probably everyone watching at home from their couches too. Thanks to the success and popularity of "Abbott Elementary," a world of people are learning about Ralph's undeniable talent for the very first time, but make no mistake, Ralph is not a newcomer.

"I am here to tell you that this is what believing looks like, this is what striving looks like, and don't you ever, ever give up on you," she said in her acceptance speech. It's a fitting statement from a woman who landed her breakthrough role as Deena Jones...

‘Better Call Saul’ Flashes To ‘Breaking Bad’ As Series Finale Looms; (Spoiler) Lives, In Florida
Image
Spoiler Alert: This article contains details of tonight’s Better Call Saul‘s “Breaking Bad” episode. Let’s just say, the title is a bit of a giveaway.

“I said, no details,” insists Bryan Cranston’s Walter White to Aaron Paul’s Jesse Pinkman in tonight’s third to last episode of Better Call Saul. “He’s on a need to know basis,” the partially ski-masked high school science teacher and would-be drug kingpin tells his sidekick as a smarmy Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) stands in front of the Breaking Bad duo in their infamous meth lab Rv a.k.a. the Krystal Ship.

Lurching towards the August 15 series finale, the Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould-created spinoff weaved back and forth Monday to the periphery of seminal Breaking Bad events in the Thomas Schnauz penned and directed “Breaking Bad” entitled 11th episode of the sixth and last season of Better Call Saul.
