As women across the country have spoken up to share their personal stories of sexual harassment and assault, Jennifer Lawrence has joined in. The Passengers star told an audience at a press event this week that early in her career, she was forced by a producer (notably, a female producer) to do a nude line-up with other actresses, the goal of which was to shame Lawrence into losing weight. Lawrence told the audience that the humiliating incident was only one of many she has experienced in her Hollywood career.

Jennifer Lawrence revealed that one of her earliest acting jobs was rife with sexual harassment, from demands to lose weight to being propositioned for pornography.

Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series."Did you like that song?" the boy (Xolo Mariduena) asks the girl (Tikaeni Faircrest). His words are hesitant and tentative—tinged with naiveté, therefore open and earnest. "Yes," the girl replies, playing along with the courtship ritual. "I did like that song." Yet there's a sense in the slight pause between his question and her answer that she could say anything. That awkward dead space is filled with possibilities—positive, negative and in-between. And what excitement there is in that. This exchange comes toward the end of Part 8 of Mark Frost and David Lynch's revived Twin Peaks, though the quiet beauty of the moment is offset by the many horrors (and wonders) that precede it…and that, will indeed, follow it. It's easy...

TV shows based on action films are rarely great, but here’s why John Wick’s mooted series could be excellent...
Back in January, we heard that Lionsgate is “very interested in doing a John Wick TV show”, straight from the horse’s mouth. The horse in this case being Chad Stahelski, who co-directed the first Keanu Reeves kill-fest with David Leitch, and went solo in the director’s chair for John Wick: Chapter 2. He told SlashFilm that making a TV prequel to the John Wick movies “seems very appealing”.

If reading that paragraph has given you worries - and perhaps dark flashbacks to action-blockbuster-into-underwhelming-telly-series transitions of recent times, like Limitless, Taken, Minority Report, Shooter and Lethal Weapon – fear not!

Vin Diesel is all talk when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, now, in more ways than one. Diesel famously voices Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy and Baby Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, as well as whatever sort of growth Groot experiences between now and Avengers: Infinity War (Teenage Groot?). In the age of A-list actors doing motion capture, Diesel only provides Groot's voice, though he is incredibly committed to that, reading each line differently and even doing the foreign language version for multiple countries.
Now, Vin Diesel has more to talk about, but I'm afraid that, it too, is just talk. Diesel was interviewed by USA Today and he made a claim about what would be a fascinating Guardians of the Galaxy spinoff:
"[Writer/Director] James Gunn has always wanted a Rocket and Groot movie. And I know that Disney is very much into being successful.

Warning: The following contains spoilers for Sunday’s Season 7 finale of The Walking Dead.
In the weeks leading up to Sunday’s Season 7 finale of The Walking Dead, Rick & Co. had acquired everything that they needed to take on the Saviors, from allies (the Hilltop, the Kingdom, the junkyard collective) to weapons (sorry, Oceanside). And, although Alexandria’s leader didn’t know it yet, he also had back in action Carol — an army unto herself. So, were the rebel forces able to defeat the Saviors? Did Negan’s “little birdie” crap all over our heroes’ plans? Did the war even really begin,...

“Did you hear what happened to Baroness?”
That was the portentous question that got passed around the mostly insular heavy metal community in August 2012. After all, the group had just released Yellow & Green, a double-album (and the group’s third full-length) to nearly universal acclaim barely a month earlier.
It should have been their breakthrough. Baroness were one of a breed of bands operating in the thorny haze of post-2000s metal that wasn’t quite thrash, wasn’t quite nü-metal (thankfully), and wasn’t quite punk, but a postmodern hybrid of virtually every form of heavy music from the...

The stakes couldn’t be higher for the Underwoods in Season 4 of “House of Cards”: Frank (Kevin Spacey) struggles to hold onto power with his Presidential re-election and Claire (Robin Wright) plots her own political path to the Presidency.
And editing and sound mixing play a significant role in conveying their tug-of-war.
“We try to keep it balanced and close to the world of believability,” said Lisa Bromwell, who edited the first two episodes and concentrated on the first half of the season. “It’s absolutely heightened in a fun way.”
From the very beginning, David Fincher wanted “House of Cards” to be cut more like a movie, according to Bromwell, which means focusing on the reactions of supporting characters. “You can always cut to Kevin Spacey at any moment. But he’s the one pulling the strings and often times it’s more interesting to see how other...

Smith then went on to talk about how it would be cool if 9 and 10 could have a 6 episode run each or something like that, but only if Peter Capaldi was okay with it. Tennant said that either of the two returning is definite, the only question is how or when...

American Idol season 1 debuted about a week after The Wire season 1 did. Though my TV tastes over the years trended much more towards complicated scripted dramas like the latter, I spent a long time watching the former, and enjoying it in the moments when the series wasn't busy padding its run time with inanities (like the entire judging career of Randy Jackson) and simply let the contestants sing. Often, those performances were just overpraised photocopies of the original moments, but when an Idol singer put their own stamp on a familiar tune, or dug up an obscurity and made it sound like a hit, I couldn't begrudge the series its enormous popularity. Eventually, the show got too repetitive for me to stick with, especially as more and more scripted options rose up demanding my attention. The last time I watched an Idol season from start to finish was the 9th,...

Rumors of a possible Steve Austin vs. Brock Lesnar match at WrestleMania 32 have persisted ever since Austin interviewed Paul Heyman on the Stone Cold Podcast. At the end of that interview, both Austin and Heyman went into character speaking of a possible showdown between the two men. The question at the time was why would these two have wasted television time on the WWE Network teasing this match if it wasn’t at least being considered?
Austin has vehemently denied for several months that any match against Lesnar was ever possible. However, a new interview with Fox Sports has raised the issue once more. Austin told Brian Fritz of Fox that he actually did consider doing the match.
“I considered it for just a brief moment but again, just like I tell everybody, what’s on the backside of a match like that, you know? I got out...

Twin Peaks, Season 2, Episode 1, “May The Giant Be With You”
Written by Mark Frost
Directed by David Lynch
Aired September 30, 1990 on ABC

The glow was life. Her smile was to say it was alright to cry. The woods was our sadness. The dance was her calling. It was Laura and she came to kiss me goodbye.
The question of who killed Laura Palmer holds a particular and acute power. Not only did it captivate millions of people in 1990, but it has continued to have the same effect on millions more in the decades since thanks to home video and, most importantly, Netflix. As we know, a passage through the many Sundance labs doesn’t guarantee a gold ticket for Park City in January, but undoubtably its certainly a professional nudge in the right direction. A total of nine films (5 fiction) will be heading to the Labs (July 28 – August 1) with this year’s Creative Advisors including folk we’ve mentioned on several occasion here in Paul Mezey (Beasts of the Southern Wild), Pam Koffler (Boys Don’t Cry), Jay Van Hoy (Love is Strange) and Julie Lynn (Albert Nobbs). Among this year’s summer camp for film producers we have the likes of Riel Roch Decter (who produced 2013 SXSW entry The Wait
from helmer M. Blash) and producer Laura Wagner (from Eliza Hittman’s It Felt Like Love fame). Here are the projects and producers heading up to the mythic location. Press release follows.

Filmmaker: Why this movie? Why did you decide to do it? Deguchi: I worked with Jeremiah Zagar, the director of this film before – on his first feature length documentary film called “In A Dream”. Even before I worked with him, by looking at a few scenes he put together, I could tell he was an extremely talented filmmaker. Not only that he is a delight to work with! Jeremiah Zagar fell in love with film at age eight while watching "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen." "I sat in the theater for three screenings straight that day and in the years that followed, became religiously devoted to my local video store and movie house." His first feature-length documentary "In A Dream" screened theatrically across the Us and in film festivals around the world, and received multiple Emmy nominations including Best Documentary. Other works include the Emmy-nominated "Starved for Attention"—a series of seven short films about global childhood malnutrition for Doctors Without Borders. Zagar returns to Sundance after his short documentary "Heart Stop Beating" premiered in 2012. What it's about: "In an extraordinary and tragic American story, a small town murder becomes one of the highest profile cases of all time. From its historic role as the first trial televised gavel to gavel, to the many books and movies made,...

Long a part of film and storytelling in general, the dream sequence serves as a way to dive into a character’s inner most thoughts, feelings and desires. In a dream, our main characters can become anyone they want to be, whether that be a hero, savant, or simply the cool kid in school.
In the case of Walter Mitty (Ben Stiller) in the 2013 adaptation of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (read our review), dreams are a door to a whole new world of self-discovery. Of course, while not all characters’ dreams are so profound or life-changing, Walter helped us conjure up other memorable scenes featuring dreamers from all walks ...

Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Film selected Ryan Koo, The Summer of Flying Fish director Marcella Said (right ont pic above) and Jordana Spiro (who we sang the praises for with her short 2013 Sundance-preemed Skin) are among the twelve plus participants for the upcoming 2014 Feature Screenwriters Lab (which takes place one week before the actual festival).
At this point, the lab have probably easily broke the one hundred project count (with a good percentage of them panning out into an eventual feature film – see Ryan Coogler’s Fruitvale Station, Andrew Dosunmu’s Mother of George, David Lowery’s Ain’t Them Bodies Saints and Andrew Renzi’s Franny as recent examples). The international class of January ’14 (read project descriptions and bios below) will be coached by no other than: Dustin Lance Black, Naomi Foner, John Gatins, Michael Goldenberg, Erik Jendresen, Patty Jenkins and Spaghetti Western fanboy and former lab attendee Quentin Tarantino.

In a dream pairing, the man of the hour, Vince Gilligan, coming off a best series win on Sunday for his hit AMC drama Breaking Bad, has teamed with House creator David Shore for Battle Creek, which has closed at CBS with a series production order for the 2014-15 season. The drama project, which I hear has a 13-episode commitment, was originally created by Gilligan a decade ago. It comes from Sony TV, which produced Breaking Bad and has an overall deal with Shore. Sony will co-produce with CBS TV Studios, with Gilligan, Shore and Breaking Bad Ep Mark Johnson executive producing. Shore will serve as showrunner, with Gilligan interested in directing. It’s been a very strong last few days for Sony TV, which scored a best drama series win on Sunday for Breaking Bad, a strong opening for its new NBC series The Blacklist on Monday, followed by...

But last night at the Fox TCA party in West Hollywood, I grabbed some time with creator Hart Hanson and star David Boreanaz to gather up some scoop on what’s to come.
With so many people fearful about what the evil Christopher Pelant has in store next for our team, Hanson leaked to me that Pelant may not be the worst the Jeffersonian team has ever seen. Asked if there would be another big bad once Pelant is taken care of, Hanson told me exclusively:
“There is another big bad on the horizon. No one’s asked me about this yet. Pelant, in his own way, uncovers another big bad. Perhaps [Pelant is] not the worst guy who’s ever lived.

The questions over the future of Arsene Wenger epitomises the current problem with the Premier League. A manager who has achieved regular fourth place finishes has been scrutinised for not winning a trophy for eight years, but, while there is no excuse for not lifting the Fa or League Cups, is it really his fault that the Gunners aren’t challenging for the league?
Arsenal fans must recognise how the Premier League has evolved since they last won the league: the top three clubs – Manchester United, City and Chelsea – have either billionaire owners or huge commercial deals, which allow them to spend large sums on numerous world class players. The surprising thing about Arsenal is that if it wasn’t for their real estate portfolio and the sales of players they would actually be making losses every year – are their fans willing to go into the red and spend tens...

There've been complaints that last night's American Idol, themed around the hits and performances of past Idol winners, was old-fashioned and schmaltzy. Hey, morons: That's why I watchAmerican Idol. I want ancient, Wayne Newton-y performances from Mormon teenagers in pain. I want the new Rosemary Clooney to woo me in a collared denim dress that her great-grandmother weaved. I want singers who pick songs by Kenny Rogers or Alannah Myles to feel "naughty." Bring me the home-schooled!
I loved last night's episode, even when truly awful songs like Ruben Studdard's "Flying Without Wings" threatened to curbstomp us with hopelessness. For me, ranking the top 10 was a cinch -- though apparently I disagree with most of you about how interesting Angela Miller is. Guys, her emotions range from "happy" to "happy, but quiet sometimes." Come on.

Reeve Carney might sling some Spidey web your way night after night as the star of "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark,” but soon he’s about to take on another larger-than-life character. He’s set to play Jeff Buckley in a big-screen adaptation of the legendary musician’s life.
Carney, a real-life musician himself, recently chatted with MTV News about re-imagining the “Last Goodbye” singer for “Welcome to the Rileys” director Jake Scott. And if Buckley fans are nervous about Carney taking on the part, they shouldn’t be: he has the blessing of Buckley’s mom for the role.
“I mean his mother has been so kind to me saying I spent my whole life preparing for this. In a way, I guess, it’s true in a sense," said Carney. "I mean I first heard about him when I was 16, which was two years after he passed away,...

It's that time of year again: It's time to recollect the funniest and most memorable lines we heard on TV this year.
But I need your help. I've compiled a dozen lines from the past year that I really loved below, but that's just a little appetizer to kick off the discussion. I'd love it if we could keep the discussion going on Twitter, using the hashtag #BestTVLines2012. But I need your help. I've compiled a dozen lines from the past year that I really loved below, but that's just a little appetizer to kick off the discussion. I'd love it if we could keep the discussion going on Twitter, using the hashtag #BestTVLines2012. Please share your favorites there and I'll compile as many of them as I can in a slide show that I will add to this post soon.

Sheldon is a grump about Christmas, and this season on "The Big Bang Theory," the reason finally became clear. Leonard tried to soften his heart by planning a Christmas-themed Dungeons & Dragons campaign. The guys were sent on a mission to rescue Santa Claus, but when they got there, things took a dark turn.
Sheldon turned on his allies and confronted Santa Claus. In an uncomfortable moment, he revealed that he hated Santa because he didn't bring his Pop Pop back to life after he'd died when Sheldon was a small boy. So, he left him there to die. In a dream that night, though, Santa got back at him with a cannon.
After dying early, Raj went out with the girls for a night of revelry. They tried to play wing-women for him, but it came up dry. He did, however, find common ground with Amy. Both had suffered teasing and rejection for years.

The American Idol Season 11 Top 6 hit the stage tonight with two numbers — one from the Queen songbook, another filed under “contestant’s choice — and I’d argue it’s the most evenly matched half-dozen vocalists in Idol history.
Yet while that means each week’s performances count more than ever in determining who stays and who goes home — the vocalist I ranked at No. 1 last week just got eliminated, for Pete’s sake! — it’s still fun to look in at who’s got momentum heading into the live show, and who’s already shopping for a lifejacket to wear...

The Twelve Gold Medallions
Directed by Ching Gong

It would be a bit of a stretch to argue that the Shaw Brothers studio was an excellent venue for actors for flex their thespian muscles to the fullest extent. Naturally, the emphasis in these movies is put on action, style and caricatures more than three-dimensional characterizations. It does not mean there are no fully fledged characters to play nor that an actor is never awarded the opportunity to give a performance worth of special note, but ‘acting’ definitely means playing within the parameters set up by the sorts of stories told. Some, however, break through the mould, be it because the script provides them with more meat to chew on or simply because they have more charisma, their presence holds more gravitas than most. Yueh Hua was one such actor, much like David Chiang and Lo Lieh.

McFly have revealed that they would like to work with Jessie J on their next record. The group, who are currently working on their sixth studio LP, said in an interview with Digital Spy that it would be a "dream" to work with the 'Price Tag' singer. Harry Judd said: "I haven't spoken to the guys about it but we're definitely open to collaborating again. We're just starting to play the label the new songs, so we'll see. "In a dream world I'd love to work with so many people. A female artist would be great - Jessie J would be amazing, though she's obviously doing extremely well at the moment. In a dream world!" Sandy’s reaction, as she listens to Jeffrey’s theory about the significance of the severed ear. “I think she [Dorothy] wants to die,” he says. “I think Frank cut the ear I found off her husband as a warning to stay alive.” That’s a key sentence, almost lost in the film’s narrative momentum. The severed ear isn’t intended simply to secure a ransom, as might be expected, but rather as a message to Dorothy not to die. As the object of Frank’s furious desire, Dorothy is just another one of his addictions, his fascinations. Sandy’s face, softly lit and framed by the murky glow of the church’s stained glass windows, registers shock not so much at the content of what Jeffrey is telling her, but at how swiftly and deeply he cares about a woman he barely knows. Like a silent film actress,...

Darren Criss' Blaine and Harry Shum Jr.'s Mike take center stage in "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'." During rehearsals, Criss said, "I'm nervous I won't be able to do some of the moves, which are so iconic and cool."
In a dream sequence set to "Scream," Kevin McHale's Artie will get up out of his wheelchair and dance. "He's probably our best male dancer, second to Harry (Shum Jr.)," says Lea Michele.

Christmas greetings to all; had enough of your Mum blasting out some Bruno Mars and your Nan playing Buble on repeat, well here’s my top 10 best albums of 2011 just in time, ready for some light hearted discussion on this year’s music.
Whilst 2011 was a killer 12 months for games fans, cinema was crazily mediocre, but the music world was blessed with another good year. I was lucky enough to attend the Leeds Festival, one as usual set amongst a hectic summer schedule of mud, sweat and tears. I also found myself buying more albums as the year offered some impressively talented LPs. Below is a list of my top ten favourite albums of 2011. As I have quite a mainstream taste for music, I’d love some further suggestions on what you think are the best albums of 2011, enjoy.

In a dream sequence, Serena -- dressed as Marilyn Monroe -- sings 'Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend' while her real Bff and bride-to-be Blair steals her ex-boyfriend, Dan Humphrey. Does this mean the 100th episode will be Dair-infested? I'm counting down the days -- 49 to be exact -- until the 100th episode of Gossip Girl when Blair's much-anticipated royal wedding will go down. But from the looks of this video, I'm a little concerned about how it's going to pan out. Will Blair have a change of heart and decide she wants to be with Dan instead of Chuck (Ed Westwick) or Prince Louis (Hugo Becker)? In what is clearly a dream sequence in this video from SpoilerTV.com, Serena (Blake Lively) dressed up as Marilyn Monroe, performs "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" while Nate (Chace Crawford), Dan (Penn Padgley) and Prince Louis dance with her. At the...

Director Sam Levinson discusses his feature debut Another Happy Day, working with Ellen Barkin, and much more
As the son of acclaimed filmmaker Barry Levinson, Sam Levinson, naturally, grew up in the movie-making biz. He even appeared in a few of his father's films (Toys, Bandits, What Just Happened), before forging his own path as a writer-director. Sam Levinson makes his directorial debut with the fantastic family drama-comedy Another Happy Day, which opens in New York and Los Angeles November 18. I recently had the chance to speak with Sam Levinson over the phone about Another Happy Day.
Here's what he had to say below.
First off, I just have to say that I really loved this movie.
Sam Levinson: Oh, thank you, man. I very much appreciate that, seriously.
It's been awhile since I've seen Ellen (Barkin) in a role like this. I was just blown away.
Sam Levinson: Yeah,...

If this is some kind of joke, then — as a comedian — Chris Rock should know it’s not funny. The funnyman recently tweeted a link to an article about a possible comedy tour with Dave Chappelle, writing tersely, “Could happen…. ” Don’t tease us, Chris! Humor Mill says the two comics have been in New York prepping a show that, if it’s successful (and how would it not be), could lead to a full-blown tour. Nothing is confirmed yet, but this could be huge, don’t you think?
