Somers Town is a small inner-city district in North West London to the North of the new British Library. It was named after Charles Cocks, 1st Baron Somers (1725) but was originally granted by William III to Lord Chancellor, John Somers (1651), The area has been strongly influenced by the three nearby mainline north railway terminals, Euston (1838), St Pancras (1868) and King's Cross (1852), and in recent years has undergone extensive development work, for example, as the nearby entrance to Eurostar and European travel. Somers Town is hence rarely used as a name today.
Tomo (Thomas Turgoose) when explaining about British culture uses the phrase "This is England" in homage to his role as Shawn in This is England, his breakthrough role two years earlier and another Shane Meadows film.
