In the vibrant world of Apple TV+’s new animated series Be@Rbrick, music isn’t just background noise—it’s a transformative force. At the helm of this sonic journey is none other than legendary producer Timbaland, who serves as the show’s Executive Music Producer.
We had a chance to catch up with Timbaland to shed some insight into his work on the new series, how music continues to speak to him and just what he may look like as a “Be@Rbrick” himself!
1. What attracted you to working on the Be@Rbrick series?
“The creativity, man. Be@Rbrick is about breaking boundaries, about art, music, and storytelling coming together. That’s exactly what I do in music, so it felt like the perfect fit.”
2. What challenges did you face with creating the music for the series? Did you have a lot of creative freedom with the songs?

Like the hair of a Chia pet Troll doll, the "Trolls" franchise seems to never stop growing. The glittery DreamWorks reimagining of Thomas Dam's ugly-cute collectibles kicked off in 2016 with the music-filled animated adventure movie "Trolls." Since then, the movie has spawned two sequels, two holiday specials, two TV shows, a series of short films, and countless toys and tie-ins. It's also picked up an Oscar nomination (for Justin Timberlake's song "Can't Stop the Feeling!") and a cool $600 million at the box office (per Box Office Mojo) despite one of its three installments debuting during pandemic lockdown.
The "Trolls" movies are successful, but they aren't exactly the most coherent kids' movie franchise around. If you're anything like me, you've likely caught bits and pieces of several movies, potentially out of order, when the little ones in your life decided to watch (and rewatch ... and rewatch) them. “Funny enough Evan helped start my career well over a decade ago and we have remained good friends ever since,” Graham told Deadline. “I have consistently turned to him for guidance over the years as I navigated my journey in this industry, and he has never steered me wrong. This is a natural alignment. I am very grateful to join forces with a great man and solid friend like him.”
Graham broke out with her series regular role as witch Bonnie Bennett across all eight seasons of The CW’s supernatural teen drama The Vampire Diaries, which aired between 2009 and 2017. Developed by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec, the show based on L.J. Smith’s books had her starring alongside Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, and more.

X-Men '97 serves as a continuation of the original animated series from the 1990s, though one character comes with a change for the new show.
In a new issue of Empire magazine showcasing X-Men '97, brief character profiles are given for several of the returning characters from X-Men: The Animated Series. With the shapeshifter Morph, it was revealed that X-Men '97 will feature a "lighter take on the character, who is nonbinary and has an interesting buddy relationship with Wolverine." Establishing Morph as nonbinary is a key change for the character, who had never been identified as nonbinary in the original show or any of the comic books. It's also teased that Morph's past with Mister Sinister will "come into play" in some way in X-Men '97.

The Vampire Diaries cast helped make the show one of the best supernatural-teen dramas as they portrayed several engaging characters. Beginning in 2009 (and based off of the books by L.J. Smith), The Vampire Diaries was a truly immersing show as it followed the life of 17-year-old Elena Gilbert, who quickly discovers the supernatural world actually exists after meeting two vampire brothers, Stefan and Damon Salvatore. While the show quickly established a love triangle between Stefan, Elena, and Damon, Elena's arc also saw her fighting for her life as a variety of supernatural entities tried to use her for their evil schemes.
Seeing the obstacles Elena had to face and overcome daily was highly entertaining; however, she wasn't the only memorable Vampire Diaries character. Thanks to the talented cast, Mystic Falls was full of dynamic and charismatic personalities that constantly helped to drive the narrative forward and provided plenty of laughs in the darkest of moments.

Megan Hilty has broken her silence on the tragedy of her sister’s death, who was pregnant at the time, as well as the loss of her brother-in-law and young nephew. The “Smash” star’s family was killed in a sea plane crash off the coast of Washington state on Sunday.
On Wednesday evening, Hilty took to Instagram to recount the tragic accident and share her immense grief. She wrote, “On Sunday afternoon, a small float plane crashed into Puget Sound off the coast of Whidbey Island. My beloved sister Lauren, brother-in-law Ross and baby nephew Remy were on that plane. To make this news even more devastating, my sister was eight months pregnant and we were expecting to welcome baby boy Luca into the world next month.”
She continued, writing, “The last three days have been the worst of our lives. There are truly no words to appropriately convey the depth of our grief.

Not all trolls are internet cynics and curmudgeons living under a bridge. Sometimes, being a troll isn’t such a bad thing. Just ask Poppy, The Queen of the Pop Troll Village. As the protagonist of the Trolls movie and television franchise, her cheery attitude and sunny disposition are the opposite of what many might expect of such a maligned creature. Now, Poppy (Amanda Leighton) and friends are back for the seventh and final season of the 2D animated series Trolls: TrollsTopia.

September usually means the beginning of the traditional fall TV season. As such, Hulu’s list of new releases for September 2021 contains some impressive TV swings.
For starters, all of ABC and Fox’s (both now united under the Disney banner alongside Hulu) fall season offerings will be made available to stream on Hulu the next day. More impressively, however, two FX on Hulu originals make their way to the streaming world this month.
The first is the long-awaited adaptation of the classic comic Y: The Last Man. The story of a virus that destroys every mammal with a Y-chromosome (save for one escape artist and his monkey) is set to premiere on September 13. Shortly after that, the B.J. Novak-produced anthology series The Premise arrives on September 16. Even those who are fatigued from timely anthology concepts will want to check this one out.

Hulu’s list of new releases for June 2021 is highlighted by a host of useful library titles and one fascinating original film.
The original film in question is the one that lends its delightful photo of Pierce Brosnan delivering a baby to this post. False Positive stars and was written by Ilana Glazer (Broad City). It sounds like a really fun, creepy time with a synopsis that reads: “After months of trying and failing to get pregnant, Lucy (Glazer) and Adrian (Justin Theroux) finally find their dream fertility doctor in the illustrious Dr. Hindle (Pierce Brosnan). But after becoming pregnant with a healthy baby girl, Lucy begins to notice something sinister through Hindle’s gleaming charm, and she sets out to uncover the unsettling truth about him, and her own “birth story.” Cool!
Hulu’s other original offerings aren’t too inspiring this month. Only Love, Victor season 2 on June 11 moves the needle much.

The “Trolls” movies and TV shows — like “TrollsTopia,” which premiered its second season on Thursday — are among the better kids content for adults to also sit through. With all due respect to Poppy and Smidge, much of the entertainment value comes courtesy of Branch and secondary character (at best) Cloud Guy’s bizarre relationship, with lots of the laughs emanating from the cumulus prankster.
So this reporter and father of two asked (TV) Branch, Skylar Astin, why I like Cloud Guy so much. He seemed qualified enough to answer, and Astin’s thoughtful response did not disappoint.
“I love Cloud Guy, and I love Branch and Cloud Guy together,” Astin told TheWrap. “It’s my mom’s favorite stuff. She loves the Cloud Guy-Branch episode. I think it’s just like the classic ‘odd couple.'”
He added: “And Cloud Guy gets to kind of maybe be the voice of the adults,...

Justin Timberlake plays Branch in the “Trolls” movies. Skylar Astin plays Branch in the intertwined TV shows, “Trolls: The Beat Goes On!” and “TrollsTopia,” the latter of which premiered its second season Thursday on Peacock.
Though Astin is a successful actor (Jane Levy’s co-star on NBC’s “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist”) and talented singer (he also played Jesse in the “Pitch Perfect” movies) in his own right, those are some pretty big troll feet to fill.
How did he approach that? Astin kind of didn’t, he told TheWrap — or at least he didn’t try to be *Nsync with Jt’s Branch for very long, thanks to one wise creator/executive producer named Matthew Beans.
“I’ve only seen the ‘Trolls’ movie one time, the original film, and I’ve yet to see the sequel. And that’s not for any real reason. But when I was auditioning for...

Hopefully March will bring respite from crippling snow storms and frigid temperatures for much of the globe. And if it doesn’t? Well, Hulu’s got some new streaming options at least!
Hulu’s list of new releases for March 2021 are relatively slight on Hulu originals. Thankfully, one beloved original of note is coming back this month. Solar Opposites will premiere all episodes of its second season on March 26. This sci-fi animated comedy from Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland is a breath of fresh alien air.
On the movie side of things, Hulu is premiering Boss Level on March 5. This actioner will star the delightful Frank Grillo and the decidedly less delightful Mel Gibson. Speaking of delightful though, the documentary Kid 90 will arrive on March 12. This comes from Punky Brewster star Soleil Moon Frye and features hours of footage she shot in the ’90s that will depict what...

Here’s something worth actually celebrating: Peacock has renewed “Trolls” series “TrollsTopia” for a second season.
Friendships between the tribes are stronger than ever with the arrival of “Pal-entine’s Day” and the help of the new Metroll train station, connecting all of the neighborhoods together, according to the Season 2 logline. But when Chaz, a smooth jazz troll arrives, Poppy realizes she accidentally excluded an entire tribe from TrollsTopia and must do everything she can to make her new friends feel at home.
We’re sure that will mean glitter and hugs and songs and holidays and cupcakes and scrapbooking and….

Tony Hale’s cartoon chicken Archibald is moving from Netflix to Peacock for “Archibald’s Next Big Thing Is Here.”
Netflix ran two seasons of a series titled “Archibald’s Next Big Thing,” which will continue streaming on that platform. This new season — which is technically a new series based on Hale’s feathery character — consists of six episodes, which will launch Feb. 18 on NBCU’s Peacock.
Per “Archibald” studio DreamWorks Animation, “Archibald’s Next Big Thing Is Here” is the next chapter for Archibald Strutter, a chicken who “yes-and’s” his way through life. While his adventures don’t always go as planned, Archibald takes it one step at a time with the help of his three siblings, Sage, Finly and Loy, and his trusty sidekick, Bea.
