The voice of Milhouse is leaving after season 35 of "The Simpsons." Pamela Hayden has been a part of the long-running series since the first season aired back in 1989 and also voices Jimbo Jones, Rod (and sometimes Todd) Flanders, and Chief Wiggum's wife Sarah. Now, however, fans of Milhouse will surely be feeling conflicted about one of the show's best characters being voiced by another actor.

Rather than dwell upon what is truly the end of an era for "The Simpsons," however, why not celebrate the legacy of Hayden's Milhouse? The true-crime machine now feeds and is fed by those who were once on the sidelines, so much so that popular dramedies like Only Murders in the Building and Based on a True Story make winking commentary about the symbiotic relationship between the two parties. But 2024 marks the most meta development yet, as multiple true-crime documentaries center those obsessed with true crime.

In the latest TV ratings, CBS’ NCIS was Monday’s most-watched program and tied ABC’s The Bachelor for the nightly demo win.

CBS | The Neighborhood (with 5.1 million total viewers and a 0.4 demo rating) and Bob Hearts Abishola (4.8 mil/0.4) both dipped from their season premieres. NCIS (7.3 mil/0.5, average TVLine reader grade “A”; read post mortem) added some viewers and was steady in the demo, while NCIS: Hawaii (5.1 mil/0.4) dropped a few eyeballs but held steady in the demo.

A groundbreaking series that very much preceded the scads of true crime podcasts, documentaries and docuseries now trying to claim our time, America’s Most Wanted will kick off its first new season in almost three years on Monday, Jan. 22, at 8/7c.

As the aftereffects of the writers’ and actors’ strikes hit streaming in a big way, there’s not a lot of new content to offer subscribers early in 2024. Hulu still has some interesting things to offer in January, though.

The biggest new Hulu Original series in the new year is Death and Other Details, a locked room murder mystery starring Mandy Patinkin as Rufus Cotesworth, who is said to be the world’s greatest detective – at least in this universe. The 2023-2024 primetime television season looked nothing like previous years, with reruns, unscripted shows, and international imports populating broadcast networks’ lineups. The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, though undeniably justified, took quite a toll on all the networks. Fortunately, the strikes have been settled, production has begun on nearly every new and returning series, and the midseason January lineup hints that things are slowly returning to normal.

Here’s a look at the shows scheduled to launch their new season – or series – premieres in January 2024. NBC’s Chicago shows – Chicago Fire, Med, and P.D. – will kick off new seasons on January 17th, with the Law & Order franchises returning on January 18th. New highly anticipated series debuting in January include Echo, Expats, Masters of the Air, The Brothers Sun, and Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale.

But as series return to production with lower episode counts this truncated season, here again is Deadline’s annual list of premiere dates for new and returning TV series.

John Walsh is coming home. The second season of Fox's revival of the America’s Most Wanted TV series will see original host John Walsh return, replacing journalist Elizabeth Vargas. Walsh will be joined by his son Callahan on the revival.

The original version of America's Most Wanted, which enlists the public's help in locating fugitives, debuted in 1988 on Fox and ran until 2011 with Walsh as host. It moved to Lifetime until it was cancelled there.

Reportedly, more than 1,190 criminals (including 17 on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list) have been captured as a result of the show. In addition, 43 missing children have been reunited with their families.

Previous, Nov. 21 1:15 pm: The America’s Most Wanted revival is returning to Fox.

The series, which originally ran on Fox between 1988 and 2011, returned for an Elizabeth Vargas-hosted revival in 2021.

It will be back next year for a second season of the new look.

The series will premiere on Monday January 22 at 9pm after TMZ Investigates. It is produced by Fox Alternative Entertainment with John Ferracane serving as showrunner and executive producer.
