Shailene Woodley (“Big Little Lies”) is set to headline “A Beautiful Journey,” an English-language comedy-drama feature from French writer-director Nathalie Marchak (“Out of Instinct”).

“A Beautiful Journey” is being produced by Anonymous Federation, a joint venture between Anonymous Content and Federation Studios, and Gabman, the company founded by Valerie Garcia, who previously co-headed one of France’s leading distribution shingles, Mars Films.

Rosalie Cimino, a former top agent at Paris-based firm Ubba, will produce on behalf of Anonymous Federation, while Garcia will produce on behalf of Gabman. Principal photography will begin in the fall.

Woodley will play Mary, an ex-swimming champion who now works as a mermaid at the New York Aquarium, struggling to raise her 7-year-old son, Lulu, on her own. A new NCIS spin-off debuts this fall that will tell stories from the earlier days of Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

The downside for some fans is that Mark Harmon won’t star in the show, even though he does have extensive involvement.

While Mark won’t appear on screen, he will narrate and executive produce NCIS: Origins.

Mark’s son Sean is also involved in the project. Sean played Gibbs during several flashback episodes of NCIS.

Now we know who will play the (new) younger version of Gibbs.

NCIS: Origins adds Austin Stowell as Gibbs

It has been confirmed that actor Austin Stowell will star as Gibbs on NCIS: Origins.

The news comes from CBS Studios and ends months of speculation from fans.

As a reminder, NCIS: Origins begins in 1991 when Gibbs and Mike Franks work at a Camp Pendleton office.

It was reported earlier this year that CBS had given a straight-to-series order to NCIS: Origins, a prequel series about young Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Well, the role of the iconic character has now been filled as it was announced today that Austin Stowell will be playing the character in the new series.

NCIS: Origins will be narrated by Mark Harmon, who played Gibbs on NCIS for nearly twenty years, and takes place in 1991, years prior to the events of NCIS. The description reads: “In the series, Gibbs starts his career as a newly minted special agent at the fledgling NCIS Camp Pendleton office where he forges his place on a gritty, ragtag team led by NCIS legend Mike Franks.”

Austin Stowell will play the young Leroy Jethro Gibbs in NCIS: Origins.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, it's been revealed who will play the younger Gibbs in the upcoming NCIS prequel series. Austin Stowell has been tapped to play the role of Gibbs, and his real-life age, 39, coincides with the prequel beginning about 12 years before the start of Mark Harmon's run playing the character in 2003, when he was 51. Harmon will be providing the voice of the older Gibbs as the show's narrator, and the actor is also serving as a producer on the series.

According to Deadline, Coolidge — who is coming off her second Primetime Emmy win for HBO's The White Lotus — has joined Minecraft, which is currently filming in New Zealand. The series centered around Bo and Luke Duke, played by John Schneider and Tom Wopat. They delivered vigilante justice for their county, protecting it from the corrupt political power-player, Boss Hogg. They are saddled with trying to save the Duke family farm from Hogg's grasp, which forces them to devise get-rich-quick schemes and lands them in various hijinks.

Many of the supporting actors were already middle-aged when the series aired, so sadly, Denver Pyle who played Jesse Duke, James Best who played Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane, Sorrell Booke who played Boss Hog, and Waylon Jennings who played The Balladeer have all since passed.
