Diane Kruger and Ray Nicholson are set to star in a new thriller from writer-director Neil Labute, titled “Out of the Blue.”
The filmmaker behind “The Wicker Man” and “In the Company of Men” will bring the stars together this week in Rhode Island for principal photography on the feature, billed as a contemporary tale of passionate love, deceit and the perfect murder.
Nicholson (“Promising Young Woman”) plays Connor, a man whose dull life is transformed into a thrilling fantasy world thanks to the seductive Marilyn (Kruger). He plunges headlong into the adulterous affair; the ex-con with a heart of gold seemingly destined for the raven-haired trophy wife. The only hitch in their idyllic new life together? Marilyn’s trapped in a nightmare with an abusive husband and vulnerable stepdaughter. Desperate and with a history of violence, Connor will do almost anything to see him dead.
Quiver Distribution announced the film on Monday.

Proving that original spec scripts can still occasionally get you somewhere in this world of already-existing properties, writer Brian Duffield recently sparked a studio bidding war for his buzzy screenplay The Babysitter. New Line won, and Joseph McGinty "McG" Nichol (Charlie's Angels, Terminator Salvation) was initially only going to produce, until he decided he liked it so much he was going to direct too. And he now has his lead actress, in the form of Samara Weaving. If that name isn't familiar, it might be soon. Weaving is an Aussie actress and model (and Hugo Weaving's niece) who escaped Home & Away and Out Of The Blue and will shortly be seen in roles of varying sizes in the upcoming movies Bad Girl, Monster Trucks and Before Dawn. Variety say she's also starring with Bruce Campbell in the TV series Ash Vs Evil Dead, although that information doesn't seem to appear anywhere else yet.

The CW’s upcoming Supernatural spinoff has cast its two leads, and the actors chosen fit the usual network strategy of casting pilots with relatively unknown faces that have previous CW experience.

Coming off the success of The Tunnel, production partners Enzo Tedeschi and Julian Harvey have released the first episode of their seven part web series, Event Zero.
.We wanted The Tunnel to appear real in every way., says Harvey, producer and co-creator of the hit Australian horror film, .but for Event Zero, we.re going for a hugely cinematic feel. Hopefully people will be caught off guard by what we accomplished with the money we had. We wanted to show people that we could tackle the big scenes..
Event Zero is a collection of seven stories all centered on a train derailment near Circular Quay. When the emergency services arrive at the scene, seemingly unaffected people begin to die. The story is loosely based on the 1995 Sarin gas attacks in Tokyo.
Tedeschi and Harvey received funding for Event Zero through Screen Australia and Movie Extra after their concept won the 2012 Movie Extra Webfest 2.0 competition.

Vampire Diaries – Two Brothers for Klaus
Since we’re spending so much time getting to know Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) family on The Vampire Diaries, we might as well get to meet the last of his brothers. Since two of them are long dead, the only ones left are locked away tight in those coffins Klaus are been keeping around. That is, until Stefan took them right from under Klaus’ nose. Now they won’t be locked up for long and the show has found two attractive men to play the parts.
TV Guide reported British actor Casper Zafer (Le Femme Muskateer) and Australian actor Nathaniel Buzolic (Out of the Blue) will play the remaining two brothers, Finn and Kol respectively. You can bet they are not pleased once they have been set free from their prisons, causing even more trouble for the cast of Vampire Diaries. They could play a...

From everything we're hearing about "The Secret Circle", it sounds like once we get through the first couple of episodes, we can expect shit to be hitting the fan in typical Kevin Williamson fashion. First, though, we have to get to know the characters, and helping in that regard is today's video interview with Jessica Parker Kennedy, who introduces us to Melissa, bad girl Faye's best friend.
Be sure to tune in to The CW next Thursday, September 15th, for the season premiere of "The Secret Circle"!

"The Secret Circle" has the potential to be one of the more interesting shows of the new TV season. Maybe it's because there isn't very much to look forward to as the fall shows are just around the corner, but there is an interesting premise here. Put me down to check out the pilot at least. And while we're waiting for 9/15 to arrive, we've got an expansive gallery of images from the premiere for you to check out!

It's hard to believe summer is almost over, but on the plus side that means all the new genre related TV shows we've been waiting to check out this fall are on their way soon. One of the first is "The Secret Circle" on The CW, and today we have the first episode's official synopsis along with one more video look at the series' characters in the form of Natasha Henstridge introducing us to school principal Dawn Chamberlain.

Like always, Comic Con International is revealing the schedule of events day by day. It certainly makes planning a lot easier. But that's neither here nor there. There's a lot of panels to cover, so let's just get to it. Check out the pertinent film and television panels set for the first two days of the show after the jump.
The first "day" of the show is Preview Night only, so there's only a couple things happening that night:
6:00-9:00 Special Sneak Peek Pilot Screenings: Alcatraz, Person of Interest, The Secret Circle, and Supernatural: The Anime Series—
Comic-Con and Warner Bros. Television proudly continue their annual Preview Night tradition with exclusive world premiere screenings of the pilot episodes of three of the most highly anticipated TV series pilots of the 2011-12 television season — Alcatraz, Person of Interest, and The Secret Circle — as well as Supernatural: The Anime Series,...

We're less than two weeks away from the 2011 San Diego Comic Con, and convention organizers have finally released the schedule for the first day of programing. You can find the full schedule on comic-con.org [1], or after the jump I've listed the film and television highlights, which includes the Masters of the Web panel which I've been invited to be a panelist on (In full disclosure, I've been asked to be on this panel for a few years now, but I've only just recently gotten over my fear of speaking in front of large audiences). It should be a fun panel, and I hear they will be giving away some really cool prizes as well. If past years are any indication, Comic-Con will begin releasing its official 2011 panel schedule later today (Wednesday) with the schedule for Preview Night, Wednesday, July 20. If that happens then we can expect them to follow suit for the rest of the days, so that Thursday will see the release of the Thursday of Con schedule, etc., through Sunday.
Once the official schedules are posted these “TV and Movie Panels and Screenings Updates” will be scaled back to just the date, time, title, and location, since the rest of the information and So Much More (including comics panels, autograph signings, etc.) will be available on the Comic-Con schedule link we’ll provide. Consider this, then, the last of the extremely long posts, and hopefully we’ll be getting that official schedule soon.
Hmm, here’s an interesting matchup: Glee will be in Hall H on Sunday at 10:00; Supernatural will be...

The second update but absolutely not the last. We have yet to hear from the major networks, Syfy, TNT or USA about their panels. More to the point, we have yet to hear from Comic-Con, at least as to the official schedule.
As you may know, they resold the returned 4-day passes on Friday, and those sold out within a couple of hours. It likely only took that long because only a certain number of people could be purchasing at one time. Returned one day tickets will go on sale shortly; if you’re interested in attempting to be amongst the lucky few who will achieve tickets, you must be following Comic-Con on Twitter for the latest updates
Information added to this update includes Locke & Key, Dexter, Shameless, Homeland, Archer, Wilfred, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Sons of Anarchy, Shark Night 3D, Haywire, The Raven, Immortals, Thanks to THR...

Woo Hoo! Comic-Con 2011 info is really starting to flow! As a veteran attendee, one of the most exciting things I’ve seen are the blurbs that come out on the official schedule, being released early by studios! First out of the gate for that appears to be from Warner Bros. Television Group. The panel blurbs, along with the dates, times, and room numbers, have been released in a statement. For this post we scrapped the previous format in favor of Comic-Con’s format whenever that information is available. Here we go!

Home and Away star Samara Weaving has opened up about the early days of her acting career, admitting that she learned humility after making her soap debut on Out of the Blue. The actress, now best known for playing Summer Bay's Indigo Walker, portrayed schoolgirl Kirsten Mulroney on the Sydney-based drama three years ago. Out of the Blue was produced in Australia for the BBC but only ran for one series, consisting of 130 episodes. Reflecting on her first regular role, Weaving told The Daily Telegraph: "I was 17, on TV, and kind of thought, 'I'm awesome, why don't you treat me like an adult?' "I was arrogant. I was the youngest on the show and scared, and covered it with this confident (more)...

It’ll be safer than getting married.
When I first heard about this film, it was when I was being sent a review disc from the Warner Archive. A Blake Edwards film that was a western? How hadn’t I ever heard of this film before. Known for his off the wall comedies, Wild Rovers is a peculiar departure in his filmography. Coming off of a $25 million dollar flop in 1970 called Darling Lili, Edwards’ next film was this one, which was supposed to originally me close to a three hour roadshow. Sadly for Edwards, MGM took control of the film in post production and cut it down to 106 minutes, which put a heavy burden on Edwards in general.
Luckily in 1986, the film was restored to a lengthier 136 minute running time, this time with the originally intended overture, intermission card and exit music. Thankfully for the restoration and Warner Archive for releasing this version,...

Six down, one to go, "Secret Circle" fans.
After weeks of speculation, the CW pilot based on the book series by "Vampire Diaries" author L.J. Smith has finally found its Nick. Zap2it has exclusively learned that Australian actor Louis Hunter has been cast as Nick Armstrong.
Hunter is a virtual unknown in the states but appeared in the Australian TV soap "Out of the Blue" as Kyle Mulroney in 2008.
Nick is one of seven members of the show's coven of witches and could be described as the group's "bad boy." He appears to be a drug dealer and casually hooks up with Faye (fellow Aussie Phoebe Tonkin). He is new girl Cassie's (Britt Robertson) next door neighbor.
The pilot script was written by "Tvd" executive producer Kevin Williamson and Andrew Miller. Also serving as executive producers on the project are "Dollhouse" alums Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain.

Actress Samara Weaving has spoken of her happiness after landing a regular role on Home and Away. The 18-year-old recently signed up to reprise her part as Indigo Walker, who she played briefly on the Summer Bay soap last year. Home and Away is the star's second major TV project as she previously portrayed Kirsten Mulroney on the BBC-commissioned show Out of the Blue, which was also based in Sydney. Speaking to The Daily Telegraph about her latest commitment, Weaving commented: "It's a bit easier this time around as I don't have (more)...
