Was originally planned as a two-movie project, "Omerta 6/12" and "Omerta 7/12", followed by a six-part television series. The plan for the second movie was abandoned when Antti J. Jokinen left the production.
In the late 2000s, producer Markus Selin from Solar Films and author Ilkka Remes made an oral contract for the film option on the book "6/12" (WSOY, 2006). Director Aleksi Mäkelä was originally attached to the film, before the project moved to Antti J. Jokinen (who, at the time, was still working at Solar Films). The plans for the movie were then shelved for several years. In 2018, Jokinen left Solar Films and started to develop the film through his production company, Cinematic. After a few weeks of shooting on November 2020, Jokinen left the production and was replaced by director Aku Louhimies.
Director Antti J. Jokinen was replaced early in the shoot by Aku Louhimies. Actor Ville Virtanen dropped out immediately afterwards.
The second time director Aku Louhimies is attached to a film based on a book by author Ilkka Remes. In July 2019, Louhimies announced he was developing an international film based on the book "Jäätyvä helvetti" (WSOY, 2015).
The original cinematographer Rauno Ronkainen withdrew from the project after director Aku Louhimies was hired in December 2020. Ronkainen was replaced by Mika Orasmaa.
