    Profound, beautiful, melancholic

Loved this film - it is a slice of life far from glossy romantic comedies. The characters are complex and interesting and the plot is curiously realistic even if the premise is odd. I could almost the food, the raki and the cigarettes.

The setting is perfect - the Greece not shown in tourist brochures or on Instagram. I feel I know this place - even the taverna - and the people, with all their quirks.

The two negative reviews say more about the reviewers than the film (the critic of Greece is breathtaking in its arrogance and ignorance and tells you nothing about the film).

Definitely worth watching (though perhaps not if you only like action movies, thrillers or romcoms).

    Very peculiar and intriguing

I like the movie very much. It's very quiet but full of inner power. Good actors and feels like the real person. It is an super intriguing story and with nice and special scenes. I kept wondering what would be the next, so definitely the opposite of being boring. Speaking of that, I didn't fully get the ending. Checked the internet but couldn't not find an explanation. The ending is a bit too sudden, the light is on and then the end. Are they together? Would love to see it and know it for certain. As family or as lovers? Don't know. I would definitely recommend it. Perhaps someone can even help to interpret the ending?

A Search for Self in 'The Green Sea': A Poignant Tale of Lost Happiness

"The Green Sea," a compelling Greek film, delves into the intricate journey of self-discovery and the elusive nature of happiness. The story revolves around a female protagonist who, in her pursuit of happiness, realizes that she was more content during her quest than when she believed she had found herself. This poignant revelation upon her return underscores the film's exploration of self and satisfaction.

Conversely, the male lead spends much of the film convinced that his happiness lies buried in the past. However, in a fleeting moment of clarity, he discovers that true happiness resides within the present, within oneself. But this realization comes too late, adding a layer of tragic irony to his journey.

At the heart of "The Green Sea" is the theme of searching for happiness. A critical moment occurs when the main character reads a book and comes across a line suggesting that unfulfilled, suppressed desires might someday manifest themselves. This moment encapsulates the film's central thesis: the complexity of understanding where one's happiness truly lies.

"The Green Sea" is a thought-provoking film that beautifully captures the human condition's complexities. It is a narrative that resonates deeply, reminding viewers that the pursuit of happiness is often more about the journey than the destination. This film is a reflective exploration of the paths we take in life, the choices we make, and the unexpected places where we find or lose our sense of joy.

    A breeze from the sea.

    A great movie.

    A beautiful story, excellent implementation.

    Very strong characters.

The director created the ideal micro world for a miserable but sincere world. A crystal clear narrate of a world between flotsam and jetsam. The fatigue of working, achieving, hunting a dream and on the contrary the satisfaction of what we really are. The loneliness of a long distance runner and the isolation of success against solidarity and human relationships.

There is also some splendid acting. Both leading actors bring to life two solid characters. The rest of cast is also very good.

It's definitely not a Holywood movie, with fast paced plot and plot twists. This is pure art given straight forward.

    A captivating story

This film is a touching and human story that captivates with its simplicity and honesty. The main heroine, despite having lost her memory, discovers the power of everyday life and connection through cooking and contact with the people who visit the tavern.

The seaside atmosphere and realistic characters create a warm and authentic world, while food acts as a metaphor for the recovery of the identity and memories of the protagonist. The film combines dramatic and optimistic notes, emphasizing human resilience and the ability to find joy even in the most difficult moments.

It is an inspiring story that evokes nostalgia, emotion and a sense of hope, ideal for those who appreciate films with deeper emotional content.
