If you’ve been putting off watching the terrifically adventurous Brendan Fraser-led “The Mummy” again, now’s the time to prioritize it. The 1999 film is one of a bevy of movies leaving HBO Max in June, the full list of which you can read below.
Also leaving HBO and HBO Max this month is a bevy of Tyler Perry’s Madea movies, “Rounders,” “She’s All That” and “Real Steel.”
If you’re looking to prioritize some selections, “Presumed Innocent” is one of Harrison Ford’s most underrated films (featuring one of his best performances) and the Melissa McCarthy/Jason Bateman comedy “Identity Thief” is good for some solid laughs.
Check out the full list of what’s leaving HBO Max below.

This news will be to book nerds what Emma Stone was to “Spider-Man” nerds.
We love Ricky Gervais. We love “The Wind in the Willows”. We love that director Ray Griggs (“Super Capers”) has cast Ricky Gervias in his live-action/animatronic adaptation of “The Wind in the Willows”. We’re back and forth on Ricky Gervais playing mole, as reported today by Gaurdian.co.uk.
Scratch that, we’re not convinced this casting is quite right. In our minds, being the bookish nerds we are, Gervais should play Mr. Toad.
For those who’ve never read the book, seen the movie or rode the ride, and probably think us a bit obsessive, “The Wind in the Willows” is a children’s book by Kenneth Grahame.
The story goes as follows: a Mole (to be played by Gervais) has had enough with cleaning his house and strikes out to see life.

'I had Ricky in mind for this role from the inception of the project,' says director behind new take on Kenneth Grahame's classic
Ricky Gervais is to voice the character of Mole in a new live-action/animatronic version of The Wind in the Willows. Directed by Ray Griggs, whose previous credits include a superhero comedy called Super Capers and a documentary titled I Want Your Money (both unreleased in the UK), the latest adaptation of Kenneth Grahame's pastoral classic will be penned by Bill Marsilii, who wrote time-travelling crime-solving Denzel Washington vehicle Deja Vu.
"It's a natural fit to have an iconic British actor star in an iconic British tale," Griggs said. "I had Ricky in mind for this role from the inception of this project." Mole is the peaceable home-lover whose boredom with his spring cleaning triggers an adventure with Badger, Ratty and Toad. Other casting has yet to be announced.

Last year we reported a few times on a new version [1] of The Wind in the Willows, which is being produced by Rg Entertainment with Ray Griggs (Super Capers) directing and Weta and Richard Taylor working on the effects for the live-action/animatronic film. Now the movie has its first cast member, as Ricky Gervais will voice Mole. The film was originally set to shoot last fall, and debuted a teaser trailer [2] at Comic Con. Variety [3] now says only that the film will shoot 'this year,' and that the rest of the cast will be announced shortly. Given that the film was announced as relying on animatronics to a good degree, the Comic Con teaser was more CGI-reliant than I would have hoped, but the maquettes and designs we saw at the show [4] were more or less on target. Previously: The story follows four anthropomorphized characters in a classic pastoral English countryside,...

Ricky Gervais has signed on to star in the live-action/animatronic feature adaptation of the Kenneth Grahame children's book The Wind in the Willows. The actor/comedian responsible for such gems as The Office and Extras will voice the story's main protagonist, Mole. Back in June, we reported that Ray Griggs (Super Capers) would direct and Bill Marsilii (Deja Vu) would adapt the 1908 classic with Peter Jackson's visual effects company Weta Workshop handling the film's special effects. Per Variety, Marsilii's script will see Mole, Rat, Badger, and Toad "join forces to save their land from a sinister plot that threatens to destroy the uneasy truce between the peaceful animals of the Willows and what remains of Mankind." To check out the teaser trailer dropped by Griggs and Co. at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con, hit the jump. The Wind in the Willows is currently aiming for a 2012 release. Here's the...

I first heard about this teaser trailer when I stumbled across an article about how fans are mystified and more than a little outraged to see how dark and grim and Tim Burton-y is Weta’s adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s bright and jaunty book. Having now seen the teaser, I have to agree. What are these people thinking? Of course, Peter Jackson doesn’t have anything to do with this, though the sunny pastoral quality of his version of the Shire would seem to be exactly what a Willows film would need. And the bizarreness of the animation, not to mention its frankly amateur quality, make more “sense,” of a kind, when you learn that this is being directed by Ray Griggs, who made the appallingly amateurish Super Capers as well as the weird animated short “Lucifer.”...

Like most my age, I learned about the Wind in the Willows not through those dumb things called books, but by the Disney cartoon The Adventures of Ichabod Crane and Mr. Toad that was shown on TV every Halloween. Looks like Hollywood wants one more go at a live action Wind in the Willows movie. Here's the low down from the trades:"The Wind in the Willows" is being developed in a live-action and animatronics version by Rg Entertainment for a fall shoot in New Zealand, with Peter Jackson's visual effects company Weta Workshop onboard. Ray Griggs ("Super Capers," "I Want Your Money") will direct and produce the $30 million feature, based on the 1908 tale by Kenneth Grahame. Richard Taylor will handle special effects, and Kim Sinclair will be production designer. The last time we dallied by the riverbank it was to announce Banking on Mr Toad, the Ioan Gruffudd starring biopic of Kenneth Grahame which I’ve not heard hide nor hair of since that news broke almost a year ago. Now though, it looks as if we’re about to welcome a big screen return to Grahame’s greatest creations as a new Wind in the Willows project gets the go-ahead.
The trials and tribulations of Mr Toad, Mole, Ratty, Badger and the rest have been adapted many times before, I fondly recall the stop motion animation version of my childhood and have worked hard to lay out a defence of the Pythons Terry Jones and Eric Idle in their 1996 version, but this new version will be directed by Ray Griggs, whose previous work I had to look up but the titles Super Capers and I Want Your Money...

Whoa, this might be pretty cool. Variety has announced that Rg Entertainment is developing a "live-action and animatronics version" of The Window and the Willows, Kenneth Grahame's classic 1908 fairy tale. The film will start shooting this fall down in New Zealand with Peter Jackson's visual effects company Weta Workshop on-board to create the animals. Director Ray Griggs (of Super Capers, I Want Your Money) will helm and produce with a $30 million budget. The script was penned by Deja Vu writer Bill Marsilii, who recently sold a big sci-fi script he co-wrote with Terry Rossio to Jerry Bruckheimer. So far so good. Read on! So what is Wind and the Willows again? The classic story is about four talking animals - Mole, Rat, Badger and Toad - and mixes mysticism, adventure, morality, and camaraderie. You might know it better as The Adventures of Ichabod Crane and Mr. Toad, which...

The 1908 Kenneth Graham children’s book The Wind in the Willows has been subject to many an adaptation — the 1949 Disney cartoon, the 1980s TV series, the 1996 Terry Jones film — but Rg Entertainment thinks one more couldn’t hurt. The studio has hired Ray Griggs (Super Capers) will direct and produce a new Willows feature with a script from Bill Marsilii (Deja Vu) on a $30 million budget. Variety reports that Peter Jackson’s visual effects company Weta Workshop has signed on to do the special effects for the live-action/animatronic film.

Today marks the day when the nominations for the 36th Annual Saturn Awards are given out. In case you’re not familiar with them, they are given out by The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films (they also include TV shows and stage productions) so as a reader of Screen Rant I believe they’re right up your alley .
The awards will be given out on June 24th, so we have over four months to speculate and choose the nominees we’d give the award to. The categories range from the usual Best Film (separated into Fantasy, Horror, Science Fiction etc) to Best DVD release and Best DVD Special Edition.
Keeping in line with all of the rest of the major awards, films like Avatar, The Hurt Locker and Inglourious Basterds have snagged a high amount of noms, with a couple of fan-favorites like District 9 and Star Trek also being included.

If you aren't watching NBC's Chuck, then you really are missing out. I've long held this belief, but for some reason there are many folks out there who don't believe me. However, if this little tidbit from the folks at Moviehole turns out to be true, you might just have to go back and catch up. According to Moviehole, Chuck actor Ryan McPartlin (pictured above in Super Capers) said that he's recently auditioned for the role of Steve Rogers, known more affectionately as Captain America. It seems fitting, as McPartlin's character on Chuck is affectionately known as Captain Awesome. To his credit, McPartlin seems aware of the fact that even talking about it at this point is ludicrous: “The one thing I can't stand are these actors that are twittering about auditioning for Captain America. It's really tacky," he said. "With that said, it is in the casting process and like many other actors, I...

Oh great, just what we need... another superhero comedy. I probably would have brushed right by this next bit of news if not for the fact that it happens to be written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The movie is called Super and it is about a normal man who decides to become a superhero named Crimson Bolt, in order to win back his wife from the clutches of a "charming drug dealer". Since he doesn't actually have any super powers, he kicks ass using a wrench. Hasn't this idea been done to death already? Rainn Wilson has signed on to play Crimson Bolt, which frankly, doesn't have me all that excited either. His first full starring vehicle The Rocker looked pretty terrible, and bombed at the box office. Liv Tyler will play his wife, while Ellen Page, on the other hand, is now confirmed to be playing Crimson Bolt's sidekick,...

Citizens/potential buyers/renters beware! Do not be fooled by the slickly Photoshopped DVD cover of this nauseating film. Super Capers, brainchild of director/writer Ray Griggs, is an underfunded, overcooked, lame-brained super hero parody that doesn’t manage one genuine laugh. Much like the smug mug of Justin Whalin (he of Dungeons & Dragons film fame), the film is content to prance around mindlessly until you pray for a way out, a rushed ending, anything to put a stop to the unimaginative low-budget horror.
Possibly the only genuinely enjoyable section of the film is its animated intro. Studios take notice - Tom Richmond is a talented illustrator who should be doing better work than this (yes, I had to look him up). The score, by Nathan Lanier, is also quite good, and you’ll be tuning into it a lot when you are unable to stomach the action onscreen. Make...

Finally after weeks of lacklustre DVD releases, we've got a decent assortment of must-buy discs to gorge on including Zack Snyder's Watchmen (both the theatrical version and the director's cut) and the beautiful stop-motion animated Coraline. There are also some interesting indie releases this week including the superhero comedy Super Capers, the surreal Zach Galifianakis flick Visioneers, and Bruce McDonald's cerebral take on the zombie genre Pontypool (unfortunately, only available in Canada at the moment). Ray Griggs, creator of the abysmal Super Capers, previously made this short as a promo for his vision of a film trilogy about the rise and fall of Lucifer. Not a bad idea for a movie trilogy, and this certainly looks much more impressive than Super Capers. Well, until it starts to look like a videogame after the dragon attack-- er, Cerebus attack. And until the angels start pouting at each other with stuff like, “I thought we agreed not to use our abilities.” Then it’s remarkably like Super Capers. I would expect archangels to have snappier things to say to each other than that. If this is what Heaven was like before God invented humans -- kinda like a D&D campaign, or a bad novel by Anne McCaffrey called Dragonriders of Hell -- then no wonder He needed some distraction. Wonderangel powers activate!

“Not too long ago, in an alley not too far, far away...” is what kicks off this brutally stupid superhero sendup, which consistently mistakes wholesale theft -- from beloved geek favorites from Star Wars to Back to the Future to The Matrix -- for creative cleverness. No, actually, it’s even worse: Writer-director-star Ray Griggs revels in the larceny, shamelessly. If this had been the work of a gang of ambitious 12-year-olds, we might pat them on the head and applaud their initiative and explain that next time, they need to come up with their own story, but Griggs is old enough to know better. Justin Whalen, who geeked out in a respectable way as Jimmy Olsen in Lois & Clark, here debases himself as Ed Gruberman, who is patently not a superhero but somehow manages to convince Powers That Be that he is worth courting as one, and gets sent...

With Super Capers hitting select theatres this weekend, I suppose it's a good time to talk about yet another superhero parody that's coming to the small screen in the near future. Once again a U.S. network is mining British TV for ideas, with ABC set to bring a remake of ITV's No Heroics to North America. The series, created by Drew Pearce, focuses on the exploits of a group of costumed superheroes during their off-hours. Freddie Prinze Jr. will star in the American version, along with Paul Campbell, Eliza Coupe and Arielle Kebbel. Apparently they are changing the names of the heroes and their powers, since Campbell will play Chillout, "a Canadian-born superhero who can freeze small objects", while Fpj's character is Ultimatum, an "egotistical Alpha male who has all the women and fame and money a guy could want". I've seen the first couple of episodes from the...

There are three major new releases vying for your money at the multiplex this weekend. I really don't think anyone will touch the Paul Rudd/Jason Segel comedy I Love You, Man, but older audiences might gravitate toward the Clive Owen/Julia Roberts thriller Duplicity, while genre fans will want to consider checking out Knowing. In select theatres we have the superhero spoof Super Capers, the Colin Hanks/John Malkovich comedy The Great Buck Howard, and the critically-acclaimed Spanish thriller Sin Nombre. What are you checking out this weekend? I Love You, Man [1] Duplicity [2] Knowing [3] Super Capers [4] (limited) The Great Buck Howard [5] (limited) Sin Nombre [6] (limited) Hunger (2008) [7] (limited) Valentino: The Last Emperor [8] (limited) [1] http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer/i-love-you-man/red-band-trailer [2] http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer/duplicity/trailer [3] http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer/knowing/trailer-b [4] http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer/super-capers/trailer [5] http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer/the-great-buck-howard/trailer-b [6] http://www.

Have you ever walked out of a movie theater and thought: “There went 90 minutes of my life that I will never get back!” That was seeing Super Capers for me. But instead of thinking it only as I exited, I thought it throughout the movie. “That was 5 minutes of my life that I will never get back.” “Oh boy, there goes another 5.” I’ve compiled a list of some activities I would have rather been doing:
1) Getting a filling at the dentist. The bright light glaring at you, the white gloves coming at you with shiny silver utensils that look sharp enough to do some real damage. I tell you, one slip of the tools and you could lose a cheek. Or at least shoot a hole through one.
2) Cleaning up cat vomit. As much as you love the little mongrels, when they beg for food and then eat it...

A halfway house for superheroes? Oh dear. A cameo by Adam West? Oh dear. A superpower that plays off of the hero being scared? Oh dear. A getaway van actually labeled “Getaway Van”? Oh dear. Poop jokes and fat jokes? Oh dear. And these are all the best moments? Oh dear. Super Capers opens in the U.S. on March 20; no U.K. release date has been announced.

So I drove two hours to La yesterday, thinking I was watching "Monsters Vs. Aliens," but lo and behold, I had the date wrong! It's for next Saturday, the 21st!
The movie showing yesterday was "Super Capers" a B-movie superhero flick that at its best, is the anti-"Watchmen."
The good thing about the film? Well, the filmmakers knew that they're making a campy (short hand for bad) film. But dudes, I'm all for camp and everything, but "Super Capers" lost its momentum from the opening credits.
Justin Whalin stars as Ed Gruberman, a superhero wannabe who is sent to train with real caped crusaders by a mysterious judge (Michael Rooker). Gruberman learns to be a superhero and solves the mystery of his childhood.
That may sound interesting, or probably, I just presented it well Ha!, but "Super Capers" is a comedy with very, very few laughs, uninteresting setups, and predictable subplots!

Does the world really need another superhero spoof right now? No, we don't, but a few things caught my eye in the trailer for Ray Griggs' Super Capers, even though I didn't find it very funny. Number one... Adam West. Yeah, he's old, and desperate for work, but he still rules. I just wish he was playing an actual character instead of riffing on Batman for the thousandth time. Number two... Michael Rooker. From what I can tell, his character, The Dark Winged Vesper, is the main villain of the movie. Michael Rooker also rules. Unfortunately, the rest of this trailer is pretty painful. Most of the cast is made up of unknowns (including writer/director Griggs himself as "Puffer Boy"), and ...
