A new television show based on the best-selling Blue Bloods series of vampire novels is officially in the works courtesy of Paramount's Awesomeness.

Per Deadline, the series is currently being developed by Awesomeness, owned by Paramount Digital Studios, under the working title of Blue Bloods, the same as the novel series by author Melissa de la Cruz. Blue Bloods is slated to be written and produced by Jacquie Walters, while Richard Abate, 3 Arts Entertainment's Katie Newman Krandel, The Gotham Group's Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, and Cruz will serve as co-executive producers on the series.

The Apple series “Dear Edward” from creator Jason Katims has added eleven new cast members, Variety has learned.

Audrey Corsa, Eva Ariel Binder, Idris Debrand, Amy Forsyth, Brittany S. Hall, Carter Hudson, Maxwell Jenkins, Jenna Qureshi,, Anna Uzele, Ivan Shaw, and Dario Ladani Sanchez will all star in the series alongside previously announced cast members Connie Britton, Taylor Schilling and Colin O’Brien.

Jo Koy’s ABC comedy pilot “Josep” is filling out its cast with three new series regulars.

Kimee Balmilero, Tess Paras and Jason Rogel have been added to the series, which stars Koy as Jo, a divorced Filipino American father navigating dating, his career as a nurse and his complicated relationship with his mother.

Balmilero will play Geraldine, Koy’s married sister who runs a Filipino restaurant with her white husband. Paras plays Cheryl, Jo’s ex-wife and mother to his son Miles. Rogel plays Will, a pharmacist and Jo’s childhood best friend.

Balmilero is best known for her work on procedurals “Hawaii Five-o” and “Magnum Pi,” both of which saw her play medical examiner Dr. Noelani Cunha. Kimee Balmilero, Tess Paras and Jason Rogel are the latest additions to ABC’s Filipino American pilot Josep, starring Jo Koy. They join the pilot as series regulars and will appear opposite previously announced cast members Mia Katigbak, Rory O’Malley and Kaden Alejandro.

Josep, from 20th Television, follows Koy as a recently divorced Filipino American nurse attempting to navigate dating, fatherhood and a very Filipino mother who loves to “help.”

Balmilero plays Geraldine. Wearing hipster glasses and pink highlights, Geri is Jo’s married sister. She runs a Filipino restaurant with her husband Seth (who is white but adores Filipino culture), and she’s a relentless self-promoter. The show described as a cross between Stranger Things, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson and Gravity Falls stems from an original idea on the part of producers Michael Zoumas and Charlie Matthau, which was then turned into the book Field Guide to the Supernatural Universe by #1 New York Times bestselling author Alyson Noël.

The book set for publication this spring via Simon & Schuster is set in Glimmerville, a small town known for its incessant fog and enchanted pies. It follows a boy who longs to be normal, but must rely on his suppressed supernatural abilities to defeat an unearthly nemesis and save his town. The series adaptation has not yet been set up at a network or streamer.

Mark Hamill and Lupita Nyong’o were among the winners on Saturday night as the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced the winners of the 48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards in the children’s and animation categories. The show represented the second of three Daytime Emmy ceremonies this year; the third will be live streamed on Sunday.

Nyong’o won the limited performance in a children’s program Emmy for playing the Storyteller, in Netflix’s “Bookmarks: Celebrating Black Voices. Hammil was named outstanding performer in a preschool animated program for Disney Channel’s “Elena of Avalor.”

This represented the first year that all children’s programming, regardless of timeslot, shifted to the Daytime Emmys, under a new agreement between New York-based NATAS and L.A.-based Television Academy.

ViacomCBS’ 2021 Showcase is going virtual this year — and they have set the producing team for the annual event that highlights diverse talent in the industry. Tess Paras will executive produce and direct while Tien Tran will serve as executive produce and return as head writer. For the past 15 years, the CBS Showcase has been giving shine to up and coming talent in Hollywood. As the title of the yearly event entails, it gives the chance for performers to showcase their acting chops in a comedic space. It’s a fast-paced comedy variety show echoing Saturday Night Live with a hearty helping of musical elements. Last week, the tradition continued as 20 players took the stage at the El Portal in North Hollywood for the yearly CBS Diversity Showcase — but diversity wasn’t always the focus of the showcase.

Tess Paras, who served as director of this year’s show alongside director Stephen Guarino and head writer Tien Tran, was a performer in the 2014 CBS Showcase. She admits that it was once widely known for being problematic and stereotypical in the way it portrayed its performers.

“That was the norm back then and it remained unchallenged,” Paras tells Deadline.
