A federal legislative committee tasked with appropriating taxpayer funds for educational, health and labor initiatives has proposed eliminating more than $600 million for public media outlets.

On Thursday, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies released its appropriations bill for Fiscal Year 2025, through which the Republican-led group proposed removing financial support for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (Cpb), starting two years later.

The move would result in a loss of $535 million for Cpb, the non-profit that distributes financial assistance to more than 1,400 public radio and television stations across the country. The move could significantly impact smaller radio and TV stations that rely on federal funding due to a lack of corporate grants and individual member donations in their broadcast areas, and may lead to some smaller PBS, Apm and NPR member stations and multicultural broadcast outlets to close.

Giancarlo Esposito has boarded Radio Silence's untitled Universal Monsters movie.

According to Deadline, the actor has joined the cast of the upcoming monster thriller, although his role remains under wraps at this time. Esposito is best known for playing drug kingpin Gus Fring on Breaking Bad and its prequel spinoff series Better Call Saul. He is also known for his role as Moff Gideon, the leader of a remnant of the fallen Galactic Empire, in the Star Wars Disney+ series, The Mandalorian. Besides the Universal Monsters thriller, upcoming projects for Esposito include voice roles in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and Electric State.

A Breaking Bad star has reportedly joined the cast of Scream 6 filmmakers Radio Silence's upcoming Universal Monsters movie. The production company Radio Silence made their name with cult horror films like V/H/S and Devil’s Due before taking a step up with 2019’s Ready or Not. That movie was enough of a hit to score Radio Silence their biggest project ever in 2022’s Scream franchise revival, which was followed with 2023’s hit Scream 6. Fresh off their successful resurrection of Scream, the Radio Silence gang will next tackle a different classic horror franchise, as they’re currently developing a Universal monster movie.

Details are hard to come by as regards Radio Silence's planned entry in the Universal Monsters franchise, but it’s being reported by Deadline that Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian star Giancarlo Esposito has been added to the cast in an undisclosed role. A24 and New Line Cinema are partnering on the release of James Franco’s comedy “The Disaster Artist,” which received a standing ovation as a work-in-progress screening at this year’s SXSW Film Festival. A24 will have domestic distribution rights for the film on all platforms, while Warner Bros. Pictures will oversee the international distribution. The film was produced by Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema.

“The Disaster Artist” will open in limited release on the awards-friendly date of December 1 and will open nationwide on December 8, 2017.

As we reported earlier this year, the week before the film’s SXSW debut, the film’s UTA sales agents decided to invite buyers to the SXSW screening, and more distributors will watch the film this week in New York and Los Angeles.

Ken Park, a doctor pursuing a career in comedy, has been offered a great opportunity: A starring role in Dan Harmon’s new comedy about a group of misfits at a community college.

Park is a bit of a goofball, so ultimately Harmon writes the part of Señor Chang, an eccentric Spanish teacher, for the comedian. Sound familiar?

The Season 2 finale of Ken Jeong’s ABC sitcom “Dr. Ken” rips a page out of real life, sort of. “Community” creator Dan Harmon guest stars as, you guessed it, Dan Harmon (playing a particularly surly version of himself). Also appearing:

Chennai, April 16: Ace Telugu director Sreenu Vaitla, known for teaming up with Gopi Mohan to write scripts, is likely to go solo for his upcoming action-drama "Aagadu".

"He (Sreenu Vaitla) is likely to write his own script for the film. He will be assisted by Gopi Mohan in the scripting sessions, but it will be Sreenu's own story," a member from the film's unit told Ians.

Of 13 films of Sreenu Vaitla, Gopi Mohan has penned the story for eight, which include "Dhee", "Ready", "Dubai Seenu" and "Dookudu".

In the beginning of his career, Vaitla wrote his own scripts for "Nee Kosam", "Anandam" and "Sontham".

In "Aagadu", the director has teamed up with actor Mahesh Babu and this will will their second project.

There were times during Community’s fourth season where I felt things couldn’t possibly get any worse. The changes made to the show creatively gave us couple of the worst episodes this show has ever put out, but I still managed to remain vaguely hopeful for the future. At the start of the season I made note of how things would have to play out naturally for Community to ever be truly great again. The new showrunners had to figure out their own way to run the show post Dan Harmon and the last few episodes have shown a greater confidence in their work. Things have been funnier, more heartfelt, and generally felt like the show we used to know. The only thing that was left was to see if this new version of the show could handle what it was known best for in the past: genre bending.

Chennai, Nov 21: Popular Telugu comedian M.S. Narayana, known for his work in "Dookudu", "King" and "Ready", feels comedy is an art and everybody can't champion it.

"In my career spanning over two decades, I've never felt that comedy is a department everybody can excel in because it's an art and only a few are blessed with the talent to entertain. Several people have come and gone as comedians, while only a few managed to be successful," Narayana told Ians.

John Abraham and Genelia D'Souza are all set to heat up the big screen in their next film Force.

The director of the action film, Nishikant Kamath, told the media about the chemistry shared between the actors saying, "I assure you that they will be one of those actors who share an amazing onscreen chemistry. They look sizzling together."

Kamath went on to tell the media about the film, "Force is an action love story. It's a complete Bollywood package and full of action. The movie is an wholesome entertainer."

The female lead was originally set to go to Asin, however the actress had already signed up for her upcoming movie Ready.

Force is a remake of the 2003 Tamil movie Kaakha Kaakha and is produced by director Vipul Amrutial Shah, who was behind Namaste London and Singh is King. The film is set to release in July 2011.

It has been quite sometime since we have seen Asin Thottumkal grace the big screen with her talent. She was appreciated with many awards for her portrayal of Kalpana in Ghajini and for her performance in London Dreams; however, one can sit and imagine how silly it must have been for Asin to do work so sparingly with two big budget, successful films under her belt. As we last told you, as part of the cool promotions for the Salman Khan starrer Ready, the team is holding a live music concert this week in Mumbai. The Ready Live Mad music concert is a 3-hour event that will be held on the 2nd of June, just a day prior to the film's worldwide release. Stars Salman and Asin along with the film's music director Pritam will be joined by Shibani Kashyap, Tulsi Kumar, Neeraj Sridhar, Tochi, and DJ Ramji Gulati on the stage.
