While artsy drama films may not be the most popular cinematic experiences, they often nurture future talent. These “niche” films tend to employ otherwise unknown actors in demanding roles and allow them to showcase their talents.
Perhaps one of the best examples of such career-launching moments is the little-known British film Remembrance. The disjointed drama film weaves its interconnected plot like a complex stage play. Its fleeting glances into each character’s life highlight every actor’s best talents. More importantly, the film highlighted four soon-to-be-famous British actors: John Altman, Gary Oldman, Lisa Maxwell, and Timothy Spall.
Colin Gregg’s Remembrance Explores the Calm Before the Storm Image via Channel Four Television Corporation Director Colin Gregg modeled the film after his personal college experiences. Remembrance received a limited theatrical preview in June 1982. The film was part of Channel 4’s debut lineup, airing days after the station began broadcasting.

Zephram Cochrane's Phoenix was Earth's first warp-capable craft, leading to First Contact with the Vulcans. Thadium Okona's Erstwhile was a small cargo freighter requiring assistance from the USS Enterprise-d. Quark's Treasure was an advanced shuttle that met an unfortunate end due to sabotage.
The Star Trek franchise has introduced and showcased a wide variety of impressive starships throughout its numerous series and feature films. Every iteration of the USS Enterprise holds a place of special significance for generations of fans, with other ships attempting to measure up or even technologically succeed the franchise’s signature ship. Alongside Starfleet and the armadas of other galactic powers like the Klingons, Vulcans, and Romulans, however, independent operators throughout the galaxy possess their own vessels for transportation, trade, or other purposes.
Throughout the expansive timeline of the Star Trek multiverse, certain characters who control their own personal ships, each unique in design and purpose.

Noora Niasari was editing “Shayda” when the world changed — again — for Iranians.
It was September 2022, and Mahsa Amini had just died in police custody, igniting the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement in Iran. Halfway around the world, Iranian-born filmmaker Niasari struggled to concentrate on completing her film, which she hoped would offer a portrait of female defiance very much in line with the burgeoning movement. She would finish the film that fall and dedicate it to “my mother and the brave women of Iran.”
Since its Sundance 2023 premiere (where it won an audience award and was picked up by Sony Pictures Classics), it has screened at roughly 50 festivals and earned a DGA Award nomination. Last year, Australia picked it as its Best International Feature Film submission.
Set in 1995 during the lead-up to the Persian New Year, “Shayda” marks Niasari’s feature debut. She previously directed a string of shorts films that,...

While Harry Potter was full of love, magic and light, the story of The Boy Who Lived was always steeped in tragedy. A fight against evil meant that those who stood for good always faced pain, grief and loss, and Lord Voldemort made sure to make people suffer for defying him. Even beyond that, characters like Luna Lovegood had familial troubles and losses that they had to deal with.
Even with their tragic backstories and character arcs, the beauty of Harry Potter was that these characters were never defined by their adversities. They always rose above their sorrows and, in some cases, were remembered for their heroism in the series.

Defense Against the Dark Arts is one of the staple classes Hogwarts students attend throughout the Harry Potter series, and its rotating cast of professors makes it extra intriguing — here's every one of the Harry Potter Defense Against the Dark Arts teachers explained. The Harry Potter franchise has reached its penultimate success as the Wizarding World produces the Fantastic Beasts spinoff and the long-awaited video game Hogwarts Legacy. The class in question, also known as D.A.D.A., taught students to defend themselves against all kinds of dark magic, including curses, jinxes, and hexes. The curses weren't just limited to the classroom: the D.A.D.A. teaching position itself seemed cursed. No D.A.D.A. professor lasted in the role for longer than a year during Harry's time at Hogwarts.
While the jinxing of the class was rumored by Hogwarts students, it was later confirmed that the...

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy is arguably the most important location in the Harry Potter franchise - it's where he spends most of his time, where Harry considers his home, and even where Voldemort and Harry have their final battle. While it's arguably unrealistic that so much of the Wizarding War would center on a school, that doesn't change the fact that Hogwarts is the symbolic home of the Harry Potter franchise.

Just two songs into Green Day’s headlining set at the Hella Mega tour launch at Arlington, Texas’s Globe Life Field, Billie Joe Armstrong asked for the houselights to be turned on so he could see the roughly 35,000 people in the audience. This was quite possibly the largest rock audience that had assembled anywhere in the world since the start of the pandemic, and he wanted to bask in their glow.
“Take a look around you,” he said. “This is human contact. We cannot be locked up anymore. We need to be together.

In Harry Potter, there are two Orders of the Phoenix — the first one formed in the seventies, around the time Lord Voldemort and his minions began gaining power through force and violence. It was among the most influential combat entities in the First Wizarding War, a role reprised by its successor, which finally defeats the Dark Lord once and for all.

It’s easy as a reviewer to just pick up and review books you know you will like. I’m as guilty as anyone. If I see a certain character guest starring, or a certain creator involved, I will probably pick up that book and possibly review it. Nothing wrong with that of course. Comics are there to be enjoyed, and everyone picks their own poison. Sometimes, though, to keep things fresh it’s worth just checking out a random book. If you enjoy it, great, you’ve expanded your reading pull list. You don’t enjoy, no harm no foul. You’ll have a deeper appreciation for the books you do like. I literally chose this book, Avengers #41, to review at random. Of late, the books I would willingly read every month from Marvel are a small,...
