So, when he was first getting started as a photographer and showed his high school friends the shots he’d taken of them, the last thing he expected was disappointment.

“I realized it’s really tough to get photos of other people that they like of themselves,” he says. “I created something for someone and they’re like, ‘Oh, David, my calves look too big.’ I’m like, ‘Whoa, what do you mean? This looks like such a cool photo with the latest technique I learned off of YouTube.’ They’re like, ‘No, I don’t care about that. I just don’t like this photo.'”

The problem wasn’t Suh’s techniques–or his skills. To him, the people he was photographing were beautiful.

Netflix’s new competition series could’ve been called So You Think You Can Dance… Next to 100 Other People Who’ll Determine Your Longevity in This Show.

Dance 100, a 6-episode, hour-long show, was released today and pits eight choreographers against each other for an ultimate prize of $100,000. The set-up: Each week, the choreographers are assigned a song and a group of dancers who’ll perform one of their pieces in front of a live audience. After news broke that the former New York City mayor is competing on season seven of “The Masked Singer,” Marvel superhero star Simu Liu is voicing his desire to show off his triple threat talent.

The “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” actor revealed during Variety’s Actors on Actors studio that he has been wanting to be a “So You Think You Can Dance” contestant for decades.

“In my college, I was in a hip-hop competitive dance team. It was right in the heyday of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ and ‘America’s Best Dance Crew.’ I was all about it,” Liu said. “I didn’t study for any of my classes because of it.”

Liu added, “It’s all I’ve ever wanted.

Prior to 2021, Ariana DeBose and Simu Liu had certainly worked as actors. DeBose was a Tony nominee (“Summer: The Donna Summer Musical”) who’d appeared in Netflix’s “The Prom” and Apple TV Plus’ “Schmigadoon!” Liu was a former stuntman who’d co-starred on the Canadian sitcom “Kim’s Convenience.”

But after their breakout roles last year — DeBose as Anita in Steven Spielberg’s reimagining of “West Side Story” and Liu as Shang-Chi in Marvel Studios’ superhero blockbuster “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” — they’ve both suddenly become household names.

Drew Tappon has joined OWN as the head of unscripted development for programming and specials. He will report to OWN president Tina Perry.

Jabbawockeez may already be one of America's best dance crews, but now they're trying to take over the world. The masked hip hop dance crew are competing on this week's episode of World of Dance, where they're hoping to advance to the next round in order to compete for a million dollars, and E! Attention dance fans -- World of Dance is about to be your new favorite show!

Hosted by Step Up star Jenna Dewan Tatum and executive produced by Jennifer Lopez, the latest dance competition show premiered Tuesday on NBC, and as expected, it was highly entertaining from beginning to end.

"There's been dance shows, but we wanted to create the Olympics of dance," the singer, who was formerly a judge on American Idol, explained. "This is the chance to say, 'I am the best in the world.'"

The 2016 Emmy Awards take place in one week, but the Television Academy got the ball rolling on this year's festivities with the Creative Arts Emmys this past weekend.

On Saturday HBO grabbed 11 Emmys, including nine from Game of Thrones. The hit series won outstanding casting for a drama series, outstanding stunt coordination for a drama series, limited series or movie, and outstanding special visual effects, among others. Thrones had a total of 23 Emmy nominations, the most of any series this year.

Elsewhere, FX scored 10 wins, with The People v.

Another veteran MTV Networks executive is leaving the company, which has been undergoing a string of executive changes. Lauren Dolgen, who had been at MTV for 19 years, is stepping down as Head of Reality Programming and EVP of Series Development. Her position won’t be replaced.

Dolgen was named to the new post in March 2015 in one of multiple executive reshufflings over the past few years at MTV, which also underwent a company-wide round of layoffs. She previously was Head of West Coast Reality and EVP of Series Development. Dolgen’s scripted counterpart, Mina Lefevre, is staying on.

Dolgen’s departure comes three months after Michael Klein joined MTV as EVP Original Content in March. When the network’s previous head of programming Susanne Daniels exited her post in July 2015, the plan was to not fill the position, with Lefevre and Dolgen, named co-heads of programming, reporting to then-mtv president Stephen Friedman.

Quest Crew, a hip hop dance team from Los Angeles, won the eighth season of the show for the second time (they also won season 3) in a season that pitted all-star teams against each other.

Whereas So You Think You Can Dance has been a little sleepy and stale, America's Best Dance Crew has been giving us the elixir of reality-television life. This all-stars reboot is nothing short of fantastic, so it's fitting that the final three crews are the most talented, inventive, and unique crews left — Quest, Super Cr3w, and Kinjaz. The crews performed two dances on Wednesday night, and we're picking our favorite from each. They're all so great that it's more a matter of taste than ability, which is a great place for a competition show to be.Quest Crew, "Shut Up and Dance" Is it any surprise that Quest Crew toured with Lmfao? They don't quite have the laser precision of Kinjaz or the technique of Super Cr3w, but they've got a sense of drama. (Like when they did an Ariana Grande performance in drag.) This is a perfect...

Kinjaz, the group led by America's Best Dance Crew season-one alums from JabbaWockeeZ and Kaba Modern, finally had a standout performance last night. Week to week, the show has been dominated by B-boy groups Super Cr3w and Quest, who have a big bag of somersaults to draw from. The theme this week was "Crew's Control" — or, basically, "Impress Us" — which finally allowed Kinjaz to get away from the frenetic pop mixes and do something more in their flow. So they brought in Krnfx, a beatboxer, to do a "dancebox" — beatboxing plus dancing — using Mortal Kombat as the inspiration.

Somewhere in the universe, there's a Venn diagram of "corny stuff" and "cool stuff," and right in the middle of it are the best performances on America's Best Dance Crew. For last night's "fashion challenge" episode, West Coast B-boy group Quest Crew put on the most memorable show, with a dragged-out performance of "Bang Bang" — a cheesy concept that was saved by some serious commitment from Hok, dressed up like Ariana Grande.

MTV's all-star reboot of America's Best Dance Crew may have some questionable judges, but we're here for the crews, who are bringing the goods. Last week, Quest Crew stole the night with their performance for Bruno Mars's "Runaway Baby." This week, it was another Bruno Mars tune, but a different crew. Season-two champs, Super Cr3w, went hard, mixing choreography (always their weak point) with tricks in a barbershop-themed performance to "Uptown Funk." There are flips! Leg-tutting! It's been three years since America's Best Dance Crew was canceled, but MTV revived the series for an all-stars season, which kicked off last night in a lead-up to the VMAs. There are new judges, like T-Pain (!) and Frankie Grande (?), but more important, a lot of the old crews are back: Super Cr3w! I.aM.mE! We Are Heroes! (JabbaWockeeZ, the Kelly Clarkson of the series, isn't there, because why.) MTV has announced the upcoming premiere dates of Scream (June 30th), One Bad Choice (July 9th), Todrick (August 31st), and Girl Code Live (August 31st).

Returning series dates are Girl Code (June 3rd), Teen Wolf (June 29th), Catfish: The TV Show (July 8th), Teen Mom 2 (July 9th), America's Best Dance Crew: Road to the VMAs (July 29th), Awkward (August 31st), and Faking It (August 31st).

In addition, a number of TV shows have been renewed -- Are You the One? (season three), Broke A$$ Game Show (Season 2), Faking It (season three), and The Challenge (season 27).

"Fake Off" is a new truTV competition competition that makes absolutely no sense. Yet: the acts performed by its competing groups are undeniably watchable. Imagine the blacklight acts from "America's Got Talent" (e.g. Fighting Gravity)  put into a blender with "America's Best Dance Crew" and some choreography from "So You Think You Can Dance," along with chunks of the half a dozen knock-of cable TV competition series, and you have "Fake Off." It is a weird show. To start, "Fake Off" is a competition between groups that do something called "faking," but what exactly is that? It's never really defined, nor is the competition itself, since no one was eliminated in the first episode and five new teams will appear in the second episode. Is it a bracketed competition? Who knows! "Faking"--a term that does not give meaningful results in Google or Wikipedia, even when combined with other...

The upcoming "Gotham" TV series, which will tell the origin stories of Jim Gordon and Batman, has just announced that 13-year-old David Mazouz ("Touch") has been cast as Bruce Wayne and "America's Best Dance Crew" dancer Camren Bicondova has been cast as Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman). The two actors join Ben McKenzie as Jim Gordon, Sean Perwee as Alfred and Jada Pinkett-Smith as a crime boss, Donal Logue as Detective Harvey Bullock and Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepott (aka The Penguin). "Gotham" starts with the murder of Bruce Wayne's parents. From there, the show will focus on Gordon and his criminal cases, and end with Bruce becoming Batman.

"Gotham" -- which Wbtv really wants you to know is a Commissioner Gordon origin story and *not* a Batman prequel -- has cast youthful versions of two characters who are going to be really, really, really familiar to comic book, TV and movie fans. The Fox drama, already ordered to series for the 2014-2015 TV season, has confirmed casting for the roles of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle. See, I told you that you'd heard of them. He's the future man they call Batman! She's the future woman they call Catwoman! But for now, they're still just kids. David Mazouz ("Touch") has been cast as the preteen Bruce Wayne. Longtime American Idol judge Randy Jackson has announced that he will be leaving the show after the current season, Et has confirmed

"Yo! Yo! Yo! To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided it is time to leave after this season," Jackson rep confirms in a statement to Et.

VH1 has announced the actors set to play R&B/hip-hop group TLC in the upcoming biopic for the network - "Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story."

"Akeelah and the Bee" actress Keke Palmer will play Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas. "Step Up" star Drew Sidora will play Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins. Lil Mama, best known for her stint as a judge on "America's Best Dance Crew," will play Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes.

VH1's upcoming TLC bio-pic "Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story" has officially unveiled its cast: Keke Palmer ("True Jackson VP") as Chilli, Lil Mama ("America's Best Dance Crew") as Left Eye and Drew Sidora ("Step Up") as T-Boz.

"Drumline" director Charles Stone III is directing a script by "What's Love Got to Do With It" writer Kate Lanier. Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas will serve as consultants on the film, which begins shooting in Atlanta next month.

Finding actresses to play the hip-hop icons has not been without controversy, as some fans are very particular about who is worthy to play the roles.

As news of the casting leaked, Palmer has already responded to criticism via Twitter including the following series of Tweets:

VH1 has found its TLC in Keke Palmer, Lil Mama, and Drew Sidora, who have been cast in the upcoming made-for-tv biopic about the iconic nineties trio, the network announced today. Palmer, who broke out in 2006's Akeelah and the Bee and then starred in Nickelodeon's True Jackson, will play Chilli; singer, rapper, and judge on America's Best Dance Crew Lil Mama will play Left Eye; and Sidora, who co-starred in Step Up, will play T-Boz. And I've seen the gay episodes of Undressed, kids.

The bad news is that America's Best Dance Crew is over after seven very good seasons on MTV. If you never watched it, you'd be surprised how addictive it was -- honestly up there with So You Think You Can Dance, and that's a wild compliment coming from me. Randy Jackson will be back on American Idol but his America's Best Dance Crew won't be back on MTV. It's been cancelled after seven seasons on the air reports Variety.

Produced by Jackson, the reality competition features dance crews as they compete for a $100,000 prize and the Golden Abdc Trophy. Various challenges are given to the competing teams each week and judges like Jc Chasez, Lil Mama, D-Trix, Omarion, and Shane Sparks decide who will advance to the next round. Mario Lopez serves as host.

In a statement, MTV said, "We are grateful to Randy Jackson and Warner Horizon for having brought our audience seven amazing seasons of dance with Abdc, and look forward to more successful and dynamic entertaining collaborations in the future."

The dance competition show helmed by Randy Jackson saw strong ratings in its early years, with viewers dropping out as the series progressed.

"We are grateful to Randy Jackson and Warner Horizon for having brought our audience seven amazing seasons of dance with 'Abdc,' and look forward to more successful and dynamic entertaining collaborations in the future," MTV said in a statement, according to Variety.

"Abdc" wasn't without controversy. Choreographer Shane Sparks was charged with 8 counts of child molestation in 2009. Sparks was also served as a choreographer on "So You Think You Can Dance."

The series' final season wrapped up in June and featured dance crews 8 Flavahz, Elektrolytes, Mos Wanted Crew, Fanny Pak, Rated Next Generation, Collizion Crew and more. Lil Mama and Jc Chasez served as judges for all seven seasons.
