Prison Break was always one of the best looking shows in HD. Its crisp color palette, hard lines in gritty settings and juicy man sweat provided a lot of detail to see. On Blu Ray, it.s one of the only shows that holds up to film.
On Blu-Ray: Prison Break: The Final Break
The Final Break still looks like a TV show. Even though it.s a .movie,. it.s really just a two part series finale episode. You can tell by the camera work and staging that it.s constructed to get the job done, a little looser thanks to modern cameras, but not painstakingly staged for each frame to mean something.

The cover of the packaging boldly states to .Prepare Yourself for the Truth.! Umm, I think I might have missed the truth? Perhaps it was just a little white lie instead. At any rate, this final chapter (.The Final Break.) caps off the successful .Prison Break. TV series on a completely unnecessary, but reasonably, entertaining note. Admittedly, I never watched the preceding four seasons and while the first season was highly acclaimed, the word on the street is that the series got increasingly long in the tooth, an excellent premise that could only sustain a couple seasons worth of material at best (and, yep, I.m also looking at you, .Lost.). .The Final Break. is a somewhat contained story...

The back side of the Prison Break: The Final Break Blu-ray packaging states that you should "brace yourself for the electrifying final chapter of the Prison Break saga." However, this recently made available DVD and Blu-ray release can best be summarized as an unnecessary and redundant final chapter in the series. Just like the show's premise was stretched beyond recognition, Final Break gets its footing from yet another ridiculous scenario. A pregnant Sara Tancredi, who was previously exonerated of all charges associated with the original break out, is now being incarcerated for killing Michael's mother. And, you guessed it, Michael takes it upon himself to break her out. Add in the fact that The General has ordered a hit on Sara and you've got yourself another impossible predicament for this gang of characters. With only 90 minutes of run time, the film becomes a light speed rehash of things we've seen...

Chicago – Very few shows have plummeted as far from their peak to their ignominious end as did Fox’s once-great “Prison Break”. For proof, look no further than the misguided “Prison Break: The Final Break,” what is essentially a straight-to-dvd epilogue at least here in the United States.
Blu-Ray Rating: 2.0/5.0 “The Final Break” is a film of roughly two-episode length that actually aired overseas but was basically encapsulated in a coda here on the final episode of the show in May. The broadcast finale skipped from the downfall of The Company to reveal that Michael Scofield had died. How did that happen? Find out in “The Final Break,” which, believe it or not, involves one more character going to jail and trying to escape. They sure knew how to beat a dead horse the last few years.
The first season and most of the second were clever thrill rides, a...

Blu-ray Discs are showing some real clout. The action hit "Watchmen," from Warner Home Video, shot to the top of the national home video sales and rental charts its first week in stores, with 36% of its total unit sales coming from the high-definition edition.
Universal Studios' "Coraline" snagged the No. 2 spot on all three charts -- the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert and Blu-ray Disc sales charts, and Home Media Magazine's rental chart -- and even though the edgy animated hit didn't play straight to the young-male demo that swarmed all over "Watchmen," a solid 18% of its unit sales came from Blu-ray Discs, a surprisingly strong showing that indicates the format is fast moving out of the early adopter phase and into the mainstream.
Summit Home Entertainment's "Knowing" placed third, again on all three charts, with 17% of its sales in its third week of release coming from Blu-ray.

On This Week's Show: Neil is back from the nation's capital after an arduous road trip over half the country. Kevin relishes in making fun of the fact that he hasn't seen any of the major releases this week. Neil prepares to head west, young man, for the San Diego Comic-Con to worship at the Mecca of Geekdom. But before he goes, Neil sits down for one last podcast to talk about Katherine Heigl's new teeth, Gerard Butler's sexiness, evil orphans, the Iraq war and 3D secret agent Guinea Pigs. [Editor's note: This episode of Fg@Tm was recorded earlier this week before Neil and Cole Abaius embarked on their road trip to San Diego, which inluded an unfortunate pitstop in Pahrump, Nv where they await arraignment by a judge who bears an uncanny resemblance to John Goodman.] Films Reviewed this Week: The Ugly Truth, G-Force, Orphan and The Hurt Locker [audio:http://www.podtrac.com/pts/redirect.mp3?http://media.filmschoolrejects.com/audio/episode124.mp3] Download this Episode Episode Schedule: Segment 1 [8:50] - Review of Orphan and G-Force Segment 2 [10:40] - Review of The Ugly Truth and The Hurt Locker Segment 3 [12:45] - Box office recap and predictions and the Fat Guy Five: Five Coolest Things to See at Comic-Con Segment 4 [6:35] - DVD Round-Up: Neil's pick is Watchmen, Coraline...

Finally after weeks of lacklustre DVD releases, we've got a decent assortment of must-buy discs to gorge on including Zack Snyder's Watchmen (both the theatrical version and the director's cut) and the beautiful stop-motion animated Coraline. There are also some interesting indie releases this week including the superhero comedy Super Capers, the surreal Zach Galifianakis flick Visioneers, and Bruce McDonald's cerebral take on the zombie genre Pontypool (unfortunately, only available in Canada at the moment). In terms of TV, we've got the second and final season of Pushing Daisies, the final season of Prison Break, and all three seasons of the cult British comedy The Mighty Boosh. Is that enough for you? What will you be picking up this week? Watchmen [1] Watchmen: Director's Cut [2] (DVD, Blu-ray [3]) Coraline [4] (DVD, Blu-ray [5]) Pontypool [6] (Canada only) The Great Buck Howard [7] (DVD, Blu-ray [8]) Echelon Conspiracy [9] (DVD, Blu-ray [10]) Visioneers [11] Super Capers [12] The Mystical...

The actress who plays Gretchen Morgan talks about the series and the upcoming DVD movie
Jodi Lynn O'Keefe certainly got off to a fast start in Hollywood. The actress landed the role of Marguerite Cory on the soap opera Another World when she was a sophomore in high school and was on the show for six years. Right after that she played Cassidy in all six seasons of Nash Bridges while also starring in films like Halloween: H20 and the teen flick She's All That as high school hottie Taylor Vaughn. O'Keefe returned to the small screen in 2007 with her role of the devious Gretchen Morgan on Prison Break. The fourth and final season of the show just hit the DVD shelves this week on June 2 and fans of the hit Fox series will get some closure with the upcoming DVD movie, Prison Break: The Final Break, which comes to...

The upcoming Prison Break spinoff will be completely separate from its parent show, the executive producers have confirmed. The series, Prison Break: Cherry Hill, was originally supposed to begin life in Prison Break following the introduction of a new female character that would then transfer to the spinoff show. "We had trouble casting for it ... then the strike happened," said exec producer Matt Olmstead at a TCA session yesterday. "By the time we resumed the season, we decided to scrap the idea of doing (more)...

Fox's long-rumored "Prison Break" spinoff might be less like "Private Practice" and more like "CSI: Miami."
Executive producer Matt Olmstead and co-executive producer Zack Estrin said Monday that they've ditched their previous plan to introduce a female character in the regular series and then spin her off into a separate show set in a women's prison. Instead, they're planning an entirely new series under the "Prison Break" brand.
"We had trouble casting for it ... then the strike happened," Olmstead said during Fox's portion of the Television Critics Assn. summer press tour. "By the time we resumed the season, we decided to scrap that idea of doing it that way. We're in the homestretch of writing it."
Estrin added, "This is more like a "CSI: NY" -- more of a brand spinoff than a character spinoff."
The working title remains "Cherry Hill" (possibly "Prison Break: Cherry Hill"), and it's still set in a women's prison.
