There are many animals associated with the world of darkness: bats, rats, black cats, hooting owls and slithering snakes are all horror film fixtures. But, consider the humble primate — humanity's clever cousin, benign enough to help out around the house, or entertain families under the big top. As friendly as Hollywood makes these animals seem, they have proven to be excellent villains. In anticipation of the Stephen King film The Monkey, here are ten of cinema's most terrifying simians.
Though King Kong is clearly the reigning champion of hominid horror, this collection of underrated evil apes, homicidal chimps, and human-primate hybrids will keep horror fans busy until The Monkey arrives on February 21. Readers can even use this list of films by the likes of Peter Jackson and George Romero to enjoy a monkey movie marathon while they wait for the latest Stephen King adaptation to hit the big screen.

Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise have made it their mission to deliver the best thrill rides in cinema with the Mission: Impossible franchise. However, 2023’s Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning proved to be a disappointment in many ways despite delivering what any other franchise would consider a reasonable box office result. As the pair prepare to bring Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning to cinemas this summer, the filmmaker has addressed the lackluster response to its predecessor – something which led to a complete overhaul of the new movie.
Dead Reckoning was released after a long production that was hindered by many issues, including the fallout of the Covid pandemic, which saw its budget soar to over $300 million, making it unlikely to pull in a huge profit. Thrown up against several other blockbuster movies, the action thriller was able to hold its own well enough to not be a complete flop, but...

The Walking Dead is an award-winning series, with 11 seasons and multiple spinoffs set all across America and Europe. It starred household names such as Andrew Lincoln, Danai Guria, Lauren Cohan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Norman Reedus, who’ve been the avatars for some truly brilliant story writers that have told some truly brilliant stories.

‘Dead Lover’ Review: Macabre Attempt to Keep a Lost Romance Alive Is Both Entertaining and Inventive
When a film starts with a quote from Mary Shelley, it’s tempting to predict exactly where the story might be going. Sure enough, “Dead Lover” features the resurrection of a dead creature, and yet, writer-director Grace Glowicki keeps surprising the audience and gives much more than they expected. The characters she creates and the situations she puts them in are bizarrely funny. The visual ingenuity in costumes, art direction and makeup proves “Dead Lover” a singular and strange vision. Premiering in Sundance’s Midnight section before going on to play Rotterdam and other festivals, the unique film should garner a small but fervent audience.
Glowicki’s peculiar tale starts with the introduction of its main character, whom the filmmaker plays herself: a stinky gravedigger looking for love. She’s been around corpses for such a long time that she reeks of their smell and thus cannot find anyone who wants to be her mate.

It’s been nearly 30 years since the Tom Cruise-led Mission Impossiblefranchise debuted its first movie in 1996. Cruise is known for doing his own stunts as his character Ethan Hunt, but his co-star Hayley Atwell is revealing that a lot of the scenes are executed on the spot.
Per Deadline, Atwell, who played Grace in 2023’s Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part Oneand is reprising her role for this year’s eighth installment, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, said she thought up an idea for her character. Atwell, who has also appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness(2022) and Paddington in Peru (2024), said her idea that Grace is a pickpocket was included in the script for the movie. Improvisation was a key part of the movie, she said.

More than 15 Grammy Week events sponsored by the Recording Academy and many other Grammy-related parties were canceled this year due to January’s devastating Los Angeles fires, with the actual Grammy ceremony, which will still take place on Sunday, Feb. 2, pivoting to focus on raising funds for wildfire relief. But Friday’s MusiCares Persons of the Year Gala, honoring 2007 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipients the Grateful Dead, went on as planned. And the annual charitable event actually felt more celebratory than ever, providing much-needed release and escape on the final night of a particularly rough month.

Few film franchises have captured the imagination of audiences as profoundly as Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy. With stunning visuals, a sweeping score, and a cast that brought J.R.R. Tolkien's beloved characters to life, the movies are often hailed as cinematic masterpieces. However, for fans deeply familiar with the books, certain changes or omissions in the films stand out. Despite their love for the movies, some fans can't help but revisit these scenes with a critical eye, noting where the adaptations diverged from the source material.
Yet, these nitpicks don't diminish the monumental achievement of the films. Jackson and his team faced the daunting task of condensing Tolkien's sprawling narrative into a cohesive cinematic experience, and the trilogy remains a masterclass in fantasy filmmaking. Still, even the most dedicated admirers of the movies find themselves pondering these deviations, not out of disdain but from a deep reverence for the books.

Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) was resurrected at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, but his return was actually foreshadowed much earlier in the film than most people realized. Barbossa, who is one of the Pirates of the Caribbean characters who was inspired by a real person, died at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl after Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) lifted the curse, turned the pirate ship's crew back into mortals, and shot Barbossa in the chest.
He wouldn't stay dead for long, however, as Tia Dalma (Naomi Harris) brought him back to life in the sequel, ironically, to save Jack from Davey Jones' locker. Barbossa's resurrection was a major surprise for Dead Man's Chest, but the film actually set up Barbossa's return, albeit quite subtly, long before he was revealed. The Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy is an anthology film trilogy written by Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg. The trilogy consists of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End. Every film stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, with a star-studded supporting cast. The films don't follow the same timeline nor do they share a single storyline, but the three movies are connected by passing references to the Cornetto ice cream cones, earning the trilogy its title. Shaun of the Dead, the first film in the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, debuted twenty years ago and quickly became one of the funniest and most beloved cult classic films.
While the Three Flavours Cornetto movies don't follow a cohesive storyline in common, they do feature similar themes in different settings. Love, friendship and maturity are the main concepts throughout the Three Flavours Cornetto movies. The films are also a parody and...

Almost every human in the apartment building that acts as the setting forEvil Dead Rise are killed by Deadites, but many viewers are wondering if someone else died: the cat. Although the Evil Dead franchise constantly tears through humans in an attempt to maximize gore, animals are rarely a target of the Deadites' rampages. However, a cat in Evil Dead Rise may have become one of the franchise's few animal victims, with the ending of Evil Dead Rise leaving the animal's fate ambiguous.

The Evil Dead franchise has steadily revealed more and more about the Necronomicon and its different variants. The cursed tome is at the core of the franchise, debuting in 1981's The Evil Dead as the source of the mystical maladies that befall Ash Williams and his friends. A version of the book has subsequently been vital to the plots of each movie and show in the Evil Dead timeline, even when shifting focus to different characters or settings. However, that's in part because there's more than just one version of the book.
Films like Army of Darkness and Evil Dead Rise expanded the lore of the franchise by hinting at the separate copies of the book. The one from the original trilogy has even shifted and evolved over time, reflecting the age of the series and the way it's changed. Evil Dead's characters have done their best to rid...

Evil Dead Rise introduces the franchises third Book of the Dead, which unleashes a horrifying new Deadite monster. Lee Cronins Evil Dead Rise is the fifth movie in Sam Raimis Evil Dead franchise, and while Evil Dead Rise's characters have no direct connections to past characters and events, there is one key uniting factor: The Book of the Dead. Each installment of the franchise sees the lead character contend with the cursed Book of the Dead (A.K.A. Naturom Demonto or Necronomicon Ex-Mortis), the books unique demonic creatures, and their Deadite friends and family.
In Evil Dead Rise, Beths nephew Danny (Morgan Davies) discovers vinyl recordings made by priests and an entombed book underneath his familys apartment building; he unintentionally releases a demonic spirit from the book, which turns his mother and Beths older sister, Ellie, into the lead Deadite. If you’re wondering how to kill Adam the Clown, the annoyingly mobile Psychopath you face in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster during the ‘Out of Control’ scoop in Wonderland Plaza, you’ve come to the right place.
Once a beloved mall entertainer, Adam was driven insane after witnessing a zombie horde tear through his audience. You’ll find him guarding the malfunctioning Space Rider roller coaster, which he refuses to shut down because the noise keeps the zombies away.
Armed with two chainsaws, this boss is highly acrobatic for his size and unpredictable in his attacks. Since you face him pretty early on in the game, it can easily be a huge obstacle in your progression, even for those who played the original Dead Rising 1.

Judged by her sisters for her anomalous personality and experimental past, Christina is the only one of them who does not live in New York and instead lives in the western part of the United States.
His Three Daughters was released on Netflix on September 20, 2024 following a two-week theatrical run in select theaters. The film originally premiered over a year ago at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 9, 2023. Sharon has been worrying her family on The Young and the Restless. Nick and Mariah are desperate to get to Sharon before she does something horrible. But what if their angst has been for nothing? What if Sharon has everything under control—and has from the very beginning?
Crazy Like a Scheming Fox
Sharon (Sharon Case) gave us all a major clue last week when she had Dead and Bloody Cameron (Linden Ashby) vocalize that she knows he’s not a ghost but just a manifestation of her own inner thought process. Sharon isn’t having a psychotic break—she’s just talking to that voice in her head that we all have.
For Pinocchio, it was Jiminy Cricket. For Sharon, it’s a guy she killed. Hey, to each their own, we’re not here to judge!

The world lost an icon on both the small and big screen on Monday. James Earl Jones passed away at the age of 93. Star Wars fans remember him as the voice of the evil Darth Vader, but he was also fondly remembered for many other roles throughout his storied career.
Here are his top five that did not take place in the Star Wars galaxy.
5. Norman Royster - Frasier Season 4 "Roz's Krantz & Gouldenstein Are Dead"
Although only on screen for a short time in the Season 4 episode of Frasier, Jones's portrayal of a blind man who keeps a mask of his wife to remember her by leaves an impact on anyone who sees it. His humor and chemistry with Kelsey Kramer are also remarkable.
4. Mr. Mertle - The Sandlot
Jones's turn as a blind man who befriends the kids on the baseball field in the 1993 film The Sandlot is as humorous as it is touching.
