Not the worst but pretty awful

Renamed "Solar Destruction" on Amazon Prime, we have an absurd story, mediocre acting, typical big bad corporate guy, cliche story from the beginning to the end, anticlimactic ending. I liked the portrayal of Mom, who at least is pretty enough to draw some attention. The rest of the actors didn't have much to work with script-wise. The best part of this movie consists of tidbits that you'll be able to pick apart on a "bad movie Saturday" party with your friends. Example: evidently it is possible to lock someone INSIDE a storage room... because apparently the inside wouldn't have any kind of lock override like pretty much ALL storage rooms have. I'd go further, but I only need 16 more characters and I... ding! That's all this one gets! :D.

Theatrical disaster

Although all of the acting is horrible, the female lead, Tracey Gold, wins hands down as the worst. She has one expression, which I can only describe as incredulous disgust. Once you've seen her make that, "You've got to be kidding me" face you can't help noticing it in EVERY SINGLE SCENE! Trite, cliche, insipid, moronic,.. I don't know what else to add. This was at the bottom of a very long list of worst movies ever.

Truly the worst

I love disaster movies, high budget, low budget, whatever. I don't expect great acting, story, or science. My bar is pretty low.

Even by those standards, this movie is awful. Unless you watch it as a drinking game. In which case, your options are: 1) Bad science 2) Terrible decisions 3) Scenery chewing villainy

Usual Global Warming Junk

Disaster films of the 60s and 70s were better. They used to be the result of some human doing something stupid. Like a high rise catching fire on it's dedication day, because the contractor cut corners in the electrical system during it's construction (The Towering Inferno) or a ship capsizing on New Year's Eve, because one of the owners tried to push it's speed past the safety speed, because They were behind schedule (The Poseidon Adventure). They were also packed with stars. Now every disaster movie is spouting same old lib party line of global warming. I miss the disaster films of the 60s and 70s.

An intriging movie

Unlike a lot of the other low budget looking made for tv disaster movies, solar flare really wasent as bad as some of them are. Sure the acting couldve been better but it had an interesting story line that actually had flavor to it. Chris bochu plays chris. A pretty smart kid that has somehow worked out the suns solar flares and one is going to be bigger and more. His mother is jamie, played here by michelle clunie and looks young enough to be his sister. We also have tracey gold as dr clark. A woman that tries to get the message across and so people are after them. It was not that bad and the cgi was not bad either. Overall solar flare was a pretty good movie not great but hey for what it was, it was entertaining.

Pleasantly surprised

Yup, it has the usual trope of discovery, prediction and denial. Man v Man, Man v Nature but. The acting was great, characters were well presented and all in all I really enjoyed the movie. The writing and directing were OK but I was impressed with the work the actors put into this movie. Don't go looking for ILM effects but the story worked around that. I'll probably watch it again.
