Boggy Creek - The Bigfoot Series

Undecided!!

This is a very difficult show to rate, it's a sort of poor man's X-Files, and when I say poor I mean not a pot to pi$s in. Each episode is a mini story involving The Beast of Boggy Creek,(should be a winning formula), getting into various larks and scrapes in and around the Creek. On his size 30 tracks are the American Yeti Project, a pair of gormless nincompoops who couldn't find sand on a beach, believe everything and question nothing, no matter how ludicrous the situation. Everything about this show seems conflicted, the stories are childlike yet there's a smattering of gore, the acting is class leadingly awful but the sweeping views and cut scenes are incredibly beautiful,,, I can only assume Amazon threw money at the production team and then hired a pineapple to write the script. To sum up I liked it enough to watch the whole series, but I do love a rubbish creature, if you don't expect too much and don't take it seriously it does have it's moments, but you can say that about getting your nose caught in a fan..

Fun stories in the golden age of video style!

I really wasn't expecting much when I started this show, but was pleasantly surprised. The acting and production may be below the standards of mainstream, but the stories are fun and full of heart with an obvious love of horror cinema. It was awesome seeing Brinke Stevens pop up in the first episode. Then Fred Olen Ray was credited. It all then made sense. If you enjoyed the heyday of the video horror days, you should enjoy this. That being said, I kinda then expected a bit more exploitation from ol Fred. Enjoy!

Unwatchable.

I have a soft spot for horror and love anything with Bigfoot --- I'm currently reading the Sasquatch novel DEVOLUTION by Max Brooks. That being said, Boggy Creek - The Bigfoot Series was beyond awful and I couldn't get past the first two episodes. Cheesy can sometimes be okay, but there has to be a good story filled with suspense/horror to make it work. This TV Series fails on both of those. The acting is some of the worst I've ever seen, at some points beyond cringe-worthy. The effects and Bigfoot suit were awful and pure cheese. I really would love to know what the reviewers who gave this between a 7 & 10 were thinking. I wish I could have given it less than a 1. Perhaps, a golden turkey (or Yeti, in this case). Avoid at all costs!!!

Video vomit

Calling this bad would be insulting to bad tv. This show would need to be 10 times better to be bad. The acting is awful, the effects are pathetic, and the concept is completely unimaginative. If you dare to watch, you'll know exactly what I mean 5 minutes in

A must for all Fauke Monster fans.

I remember, as a kid, seeing the Boggy Creek movies, and I thoroughly enjoyed them for their simplicity and their modern folklore hook in cryptozoology, which ironically folklorists don't think is folklore, even though folklore is rife with such creatures. Back to the story. As with most skunk ape/southern sasquatch offerings in video, due to low budget, the directing and cinematography is not exactly on par, as the inside scenes look like old video camera recording equipment with some of the actors giving wooden turns while others do amazingly well for the limited budget. Aside all that, the creature gives decent performances, and you just want to believe that this could be true. And of all the cryptids that we always hear about, this is the one I truly wish could be true. It has a familial feel, like it should be there wanting to live peacefully in the swamp on the fringe of humanity. Narrated by Eric Roberts, with his true southern accent, just makes it that more fun. The scenery makes up the rest. It's scenery of the outdoor south that is lacking in movies these days. This series also portrays this good old Fauke Monster as menacing looking but not at all frightening so as to give you nightmares, almost like you want to root for Godzilla. While this may only get one season, I do hope it is picked up for more seasons, maybe with a little more money in the bank for a little more quality. This has the potential to be a nice little gem of a story somewhat like the tales told around the campfire at a primitive site.
