Steve Harvey and Bernie Mac were once thick as thieves, two comedy kings ruling the stage, cracking jokes, and making audiences laugh so hard they needed a chiropractor. Back in the early 2000s, their careers were skyrocketing.
Harvey had his talk shows and sitcoms, while Mac was bringing the house down with his stand-up and his iconic role in The Bernie Mac Show. Together, they had cemented their legendary status with The Original Kings of Comedy film, proving that no stage was big enough for their comedic genius.

But somewhere along the way, the laughter stopped, and the friendship faded. And if you’re wondering why, let’s just say Hollywood and George Clooney’s Ocean’s Eleven had a little something to do with it. Grab some popcorn because this story is about to get juicy.

I’m a big fan of artists starting out independently and publishing their music on YouTube — and that’s exactly the path Vaundy took. His music career started in 2019, making him one of the newer voices I’ve heard in recent anime opening and ending themes. It didn’t take long for Vaundy to start gaining recognition, as he was chosen as one of Spotify’s “Early Noise 2020” artists. His debut album, “Strobo,” was released in 2020 and peaked at #5 on the Oricon Albums Chart. Related: Check Out Vaundy’s Top Anime and Exclusive Video Interview Without losing momentum, Vaundy began to work on anime opening and endings, most notably for Chainsaw Man and Ranking of Kings . All that to say, Vaundy is just getting started in the anime scene with his music! We’re spotlighting artists from Crunchyroll’s music catalog by sharing which anime series they’ve performed OPs...

Coralie Fargeat bet big on herself and won, as her decision to turn down a big MCU director gig to focus on her passion project, The Substance, led her to an Academy Award nomination. Fargeat's The Substance has become one of the ultimate underdog stories of the awards season race, as the movie's original financer, Universal Pictures, dropped the project before being picked up by a smaller distributor, Mubi. The body horror film, starring Demi Moore, seemed like a tough sell on paper, but it has since gone on to gross $76 million worldwide and defied expectations. The Substance is a full-throttle gore fest that scored a Best Picture nomination at the 97th Academy Awards, with Fargeat earning a Best Director and Best Original Screenplay nomination.
Things might have gone very differently if Fargeat had considered Marvel Studios' offer. According to Variety, Fargeat was in consideration to direct Black Widow. Despite being broke at the time,...

Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) has been the central focus of Chicago Fire over the last few episodes. It's easy to see why. The character has broken lots of rules, dating back to season one, and his past caught up with him in a big way.
Cruz was able to come clean about his mistakes with minimal punishment. Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) gave him a slap on the wrist, aka two week suspension without pay. The peace that's been made with 51 superiors does not mean that Cruz is out of the woods, though.

Despite the ongoing fires in Los Angeles that have caused numerous deaths and billions in property damage, Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel is determined to finish shooting Fast X: Part 2 in the City of Angels. Los Angeles served as the setting for the first film all the way back in 2001, but since then, the franchise has gone global, and visited such locales as Tokyo, England, Azerbaijan, and Berlin.
Taking to Instagram to share his desire to bring Fast X: Part 2 "back home," Diesel posted a photo of himself and fellow co-star Jordana Brewster (seen below), who has portrayed his sister Mia since the series' inception more than two decades ago. In the caption that accompanied the picture, he said it was Brewster who opened his eyes to bringing the franchise back to where it all started, and now he's as determined as ever to make that happen.

Chicago Fire is in full swing. There was some scheduling confusion last week, and a slight delay, but the show is off to the races with a thrilling new episode and a crossover set for the end of the month. There's a lot to address in "Chaos Theory," from Stella Kidd's absence to Joe Cruz's fate after what happened in the winter premiere.
Spoilers for "Chaos Theory" below Chicago Fire -- "Untouchable" Episode 13007 -- Pictured: (l-r) Taylor Kinney as Kelly Severide
Cruz has a lot to clean up in the episode's opening moments. He drives to his brother's house and gets stitched up after he got shot in the winter premiere. Cruz's gut reaction was to go to the police, but his brother insisted that he keep it under wraps, as he fears gang retaliation. Leon's ties to the Insane Kings was what got Cruz involved in this mess in the first place.

Includes Major Spoilers for The Stormlight Archive through Wind and Truth and minor spoilers for Mistborn era 1.
There's one moment in Wind and Truth that I didn't see coming, and now The Stormlight Archive wouldn't feel the same without it. While Brandon Sanderson's latest epic fantasy installment has received a more lukewarm reception from some readers than many were hoping, I found myself enjoying the book for the most part. I have some issues with aspects of it, but overall, the overarching character work was as exciting as ever, building toward Wind and Truth's climactic ending.
Despite beginning The Stormlight Archive as a die-hard Kaladin fan, I began to find Dalinar to be the more enjoyable lead and Pov character to follow after Oathbringer. This made the quest into the Spiritual Realm one of the more compelling arcs in Wind and Truth, as not only were we treated to...

A few years back, a series titled Ranking of Kings took the world of anime and manga by surprise. This series became an overnight sensation thanks to a genuinely moving story, lovable characters, and memorable art style. Woefully, the manga stopped being published in April 2023, an event that greatly concerned readers.
However, after more than two years of hiatus, the adventures of Bojji have returned. The author, Sosuke Tooka, published a new chapter of this beloved series on December 31, 2024, putting an end to the hiatus. The series seems to be here to stay, as new entries have been uploaded almost daily ever since.

Amazon's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has introduced a large number of new characters and story elements into the Second Age of J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-Earth. While tying in to the aesthetic for Middle-Earth established in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit film trilogies, Rings of Power is mostly creating its own version of events, as the show (and Jackson's films) is legally barred from using The Silmarillion, the primary source of Middle-Earth history, as source material.
Despite criticism, Amazon's streaming series has been successful enough that Rings of Power is getting a third season, meaning that the curtain hiding the show's many mysteries will continue to be pulled back slowly. One such mystery that has piqued the curiosity of viewers since the beginning is the significance of Theo, the young boy from the Southlands, who befriends Galadriel and Isildur.

Includes Spoilers for The Stormlight Archive through Wind and Truth, Mistborn eras 1 & 2, and other standalone Cosmere novels.
Brandon Sanderson's timeline for The Stormlight Archive can be a lot to wrap one's head around, especially when factoring in other books in the Cosmere. The Cosmere fantasy universe consists of multiple series and standalone novels, beginning with Sanderson's first published book, Elantris. Navigating the author's complex, inter-weaving narrative can be an immense challenge, especially since the broader universe's chronology is left rather vague.

Are we heading for a Chocolate Bear and Vanilla Bear reunion? It’s possible now that a Scrubs reboot is in development at ABC, with series creator/executive producer Bill Lawrence returning to the O.R. The promising update about Lawrence’s Scrubs reboot comes after lengthy negotiations with Warner Bros. TV, where Lawrence has an overall deal and four series. After sorting all the details, Lawrence can develop a follow-up series for Disney’s 20th TV and ABC. While Lawrence is on board for the reboot, he will not be the show’s showrunner.
After securing Lawrence for the in-demand project, the challenge of assembling original cast members from the original series can begin. According to Deadline, Zach Braff, who plays John “J.D.” Dorian, Sarah Chalke (Elliot Reid), Donald Faison (Christopher Turk), and John C. Forging the Sword of Kings is a multi-stage task that requires in-depth exploration of the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, but can reward you with one of the best weapons in the game. As the lore has it, the Sword of Kings was once kept under lock and key in Tantegel, but was eventually liberated by one of DQ3's chief antagonists (whom I won't spoil here). That villain eventually destroyed the Sword of Kings so it couldn't be used against him, but your hero can set out to forge a new one.
In order to do so, you'll need to collect disparate parts from around DQ3's map, then bring them back to a skilled smith to put it all together. Once that's all done, though, you'll have access to what may be the best sword in the game (at least until after the main story is over). Here's...

Stephen King is renowned for referencing his past projects in other works, and there are loads of books and short stories of his that tie into The Dark Tower series. Stephen Kings Dark Tower books consist of eight novels and one short story, starting with 1982s The Gunslinger and ending with 2012s The Wind Through the Keyhole. The Dark Tower entries are considered to be some of the very best books by Stephen King, and the King of Horror himself has even considered them his magnum opus.
The Dark Tower series is complex and layered with a lot of detail, so it makes sense that King would tie in his other works. However, the links to his other novels arent exclusively horror titles. Stephen Kings best non-horror book, The Stand, has a number of parallels and connections. King is undoubtedly a clever writer, but The Dark Tower series proves just...

The Beekeeper star Jason Statham is now one of the best-loved action stars of all time, and his presence and particular set of skills are sure to add a shot of adrenaline to any franchise. This is precisely what happened when The Stath was added to the admittedly already pretty adrenaline-fueled Fast and Furious franchise, and you can now check out his debut in the hit action series on Netflix.
Statham joins the likes of Vin Diesel, the late Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, and more as Deckard Shaw, a former special forces soldier who seeks to avenge his younger brother after he is badly injured after a run-in Dom and his family. While Statham would go on to play the main adversary in Furious 7, he makes his mark on the franchise in 2013s Fast & Furious 6, which you can now stream on Netflix, and finds The Stath showing...

A Game of Thrones movie is in development at Warner Bros., and they may have already found the perfect project. HBO was exploring potential spinoffs even before Game of Thrones ending back in 2019, and its only just getting started. So far, one show has made it to air (House of the Dragon), and another will debut in 2025 (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms), but theres a lot more to come.
Among the Game of Thrones spinoffs in the works are a show about Aegons Conquest, and one about Corlys Velaryons great voyages around the known world. With the original show itself acclaimed for its cinematic spectacle, it isnt surprising there are now reports of a Game of Thrones movie; indeed, Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss even wanted to end the show with a trilogy of movies at one point. Westeros would presumably lend itself well to a big screen epic,...

The 1983 Stephen King adaptation Christine saw director John Carpenter somehow make the premise of a killer car scary, and the horror movies ending proves that this story still holds up. The 1983 chiller Christine had a potentially silly premise in its story of a bullied teenager who wreaks violent vengeance on his tormentors via a cursed car. However, director John Carpenters adaptation of Christine managed to make this story scary, sad, and emotionally impactful as Arnie grew obsessed with his car Christine while Christine tore a bloody swathe through anyone who came between them. Arnies obsession gradually drove him away from his friends and family and toward a grisly end.

With many decades having passed since the 1983 release of John Carpenter's Christine, it's safe to say that the movie's cast has done a lot since then. Carpenter's horror film was written by Bill Phillips, based on Stephen King's horror novel of the same name. It follows a teenage nerd named Arnie Cunningham, who becomes obsessed with his new car, the titular Christine. Like the author's other works, the story takes a dark turn, with Christine revealed to be one of Stephen King's many killer cars prevalent in his novels and short stories.
Given its focus on teenage characters, the film adaptation starred a number of young actors who were just starting out in their careers, including Alexandra Paul, John Stockwell, and Kelly Preston. While relative unknowns in 1983, they've mostly gone on to have long careers in the many years since Christine's premiere, becoming much bigger names than they...

Mike Flanagan is officially adapting Stephen Kings novel Carrie into a TV show, which has even greater prospects due to the filmmakers 2019 adaptation of Doctor Sleep. Following his tenure at Netflix, which came to an end in 2023 with the critically acclaimed The Fall of the House of Usher, Flanagan is bringing his horror TV expertise to Amazon. While it was thought that this triumph would go to his in-development adaptation of Kings The Dark Tower novel series, Flanagans very first Amazon show will be an eight-episode take on the authors iconic 1974 horror story Carrie.

Mike Flanagan is working on a new horror TV series based on a classic Stephen King novel, and its the perfect follow-up to his next King adaptation. Ever since his breakout hit Hush, Flanagan has been one of the most sought-after horror directors working in Hollywood. Hes helmed acclaimed movies like Geralds Game and Ouija: Origin of Evil, and from 2018 to 2023, Flanagan had an impressive run of five great horror shows on Netflix. Hes not slowing down any time soon, since he has a wide variety of new movies and shows on the docket.
Flanagan has a bunch of exciting upcoming projects on his slate. Following the dismal reception to The Exorcist: Believer, Flanagan has been tapped to direct a reboot of The Exorcist franchise thats set to be released on March 13, 2026. Hes in the cast of The Room Returns!, a remake of Tommy Wiseaus The Room, alongside Bob Odenkirk and Bella Heathcote.

The work of author Stephen King has inspired some of the greatest films in cinematic history, providing inspiration for many talented filmmakers to go above and beyond the source material. One of Kings greatest strengths as a writer is his ability to create unique worlds that are packed with extensive detail; in fact, its often been a challenge for films based on Kings work to bring the same level of detail that was on the page. This is why Kings work is often best suited for television adaptations that can proceed at a gradual pace over the course of a serialized story. Despite being cancelled after its first season, HBOs adaptation of Kings novel The Outsider is one of the best horror projects in the programmers history.

The horror/thriller follows three families trapped on a rural Georgia farm called the Chenoweth Ranch. The neighbors have to pull together to fight against a deadly threat. Sebastian Stan recently revealed that he came close to landing the role of Captain James T. Kirk in director J.J. Abrams' 2009 Star Trek reboot. The casting process for Kirk was under a considerable amount of scrutiny at the time, considering how iconic William Shatner's portrayal of Kirk was. The coveted role would eventually go to Chris Pine, which catapulted the actor into stardom. Stan would find massive success two years later with his role as 'Bucky Barnes' in Captain America: The First Avenger.
During an appearance on Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz to promote his two new films the Donald Trump biopic, The Apprentice, and the black comedy/thriller, A Different Man, Stan was asked if he missed out on any big roles that could have "changed everything." Stan responds that he was close to getting Kirk, going as far as shooting a screentest for Paramount Pictures.

As surreal as the 1408 movie's storyline may seem, it is based on a true story. Directed by Mikael Hfstrm, 1408 was released in 2007 and is hailed as one of the best horror movie adaptations of Stephen King's books. House of the Dragon was the first Game of Thrones spinoff, but it certainly won't be the last. Even before Game of Thrones' ending, HBO was exploring ways to continue telling stories in Westeros. Now that House of the Dragon itself is a great success (even if season 2 was somewhat divisive on account of its shorter episode count), that will only further embolden plans for the franchise, which will expand with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' release sometime in 2025.
Beyond that, HBO is developing multiple Game of Thrones spinoffs, ranging from one about Aegon's Conquest to an animated series following Corlys Velaryon on adventures around the known world, and more. House of the Dragon season 3 has also been confirmed, and the show will then end with season 4. However, there's one story within George R.R. Martin's world that isn't currently set for adaptation, but would be a particularly perfect replacement for Hotd.

While Stephen King is a prolific horror author, not all of the writers upcoming adaptations belong to the genre he is most famous for. Stephen King is a horror legend. Ever since his 1974 debut novel Carrie hit the shelves, the author has been one of the most-read horror writers alive, but not all of Kings biggest hits have been horror novels. While The Shining and It prove that King is a great storyteller when it comes to spooky subjects, the epic fantasy of The Dark Tower series and the post-apocalyptic epic The Stand prove that there is more than frights in the writers back catalog.
This is reflected in Kings screen output too. While Hollywood rarely gets Stephen King adaptations right, some of the industrys best adaptations of his work are based on the authors non-horror output. 1994s The Shawshank Redemption is a masterpiece that is frequently listed among the best movies ever made,...

The 2024 movie adaptation of Stephen Kings hit horror book Salems Lot hits Max for streaming early in the morning of Thursday, October 3, 2024. The latest Stephen King movie adaptation arrives just in time for the Halloween season, though it was a long road for Salems Lot to finally get its long-awaited release date. Before finally landing its October 3 streaming premiere, the Lewis Pullman-starring vampire movie was delayed multiple times and eventually removed from Warner Bros theatrical lineup.
