Adam Scott and Danielle Deadwyler will star in “The Saviors,” a darkly comedic thriller about a suburban couple whose life spirals out of control when they rent their garage to mysterious tenants. The film is currently in production in Los Angeles. Kevin Hamedani is directing from a script he co-wrote with Travis Betz, which was featured on the 2018 Blacklist.

Matt Smith and Dan Gedman of Highway 10 are financing and will produce. “The Saviors” marks the first film produced under their new shingle. In addition, Adam Scott and Naomi Scott will produce on behalf of Great Scott Productions, Nicholas Weinstock and Divya D’Souza will produce for Invention Studios, and Bradley Gallo and Michael Helfant will produce for Amasia Entertainment. Where to start with The 100 Candles Game? How about the fact this is actually yet another one of those direct to DVD anthologies made up of numerous unconnected shorts which are contained within a wraparound story filmed specifically for this release – think Zombieworld, Galaxy of Horrors, Battle in Space or A Night of Horror: Nightmare Radio. And its the latter anthology that is most connected to 100 Candles, as both films come from producer Nicolás Onetti; with A Night of Horror: Nightmare Radio‘s writer Guillermo Lockhart also directing here – namely the wraparound segment of the film.

While watching a B-Movie full of grindhouse inspired gore and insane ideas always proves to be an interesting experience, I always believed the actual process of making said film is equally as entertaining. Be it monsters ripping the heads off of characters or Nazi zombies eating vacationers on a snowy mountain, you have to remember those ideas were created by a filmmaker. Someone actually sat there and said “You know what would be awesome?! Let’s mix together a shark and an octopus, get Eric Roberts, and have it cause a ton of havoc! Yeah!” – and thus Sharktopus was born.

It's been a while since we've heard anything about Chronicles of the Dead, but that's about to change with the release of the zombie web series' third teaser and news of a special treat coming on Halloween.

The series' production company, 3N Films, tells us that they will release a "scary as hell, nighttime zombie apocalypse-driven episode on October 31st" so be sure to check back then to watch it.

After Dark Films’ 2010 Horrorfest 4 will feature Typecast Pictures’ Zmd: Zombies of Mass Destruction in its “8 Films to Die For” series. The festival runs for one week in theaters across the United States from January 29nd until February 5th, making it the largest nationwide film festival. Just as we suspected upon first learning that Zmd: Zombies of Mass Destruction had been acquired by After Dark Films, it was confirmed today that the "political zombedy" is the fifth film scheduled for Horrorfest 4, After Dark's one-week nationwide film festival (aka 8 Films to Die For) that's running from January 29nd to February 4th in 2010.

George Ovashvili's "The Other Bank" was awarded the grand jury's New Directors Showcase Award and Barbara Schroeder's "talhotblond" was the documentary grand jury winner at the 35th International Seattle Film Festival, which concluded Sunday.

The doc jury also awarded a special jury prize to Yoshio Harada's "Manhole Children."

The Golden Space Needle Audience Award for best film went to Scott Sanders' "Black Dynamite." First runner-up was Benoit Pilon's "The Necessities of Life," with runner-up awards also going to: second runner-up: Marc Webb's "(500) Days of Summer"; third (tie): Kevin Hamedani's "Zmd: Zombies of Mass Destruction" and Lucy Akhurst's "Morris: A Life with Bells On"; and fourth: Philipp Stolzl's "North Face."

Louie Psihoyos' "The Cove" took home the Golden Space Needle Award for best documentary.

Possibly for competitive reasons two films, with similar names are making their way to DVD in the next couple of years. The film receiving a preview here is "Zmd: Zombies of Mass Destruction," which has a 2009 release date and not "ZMDs: Zombies of Mass Destruction," with a 2011 release. Hopefully that clears things up, or confuses the issue further; anyways, this political comedy, set in the world of zombies looks like an attempt to poke fun at the situation in Afghanistan, or Iraq. Adding some interesting stunts into the film "Zmd: Zombies of Mass Destruction," looks to explode on home theatre systems later this year.
