Good, But Levitt Didn't Need to Be Added to Archived Footage

The Sesame Street 50th Anniversary Special is neat. Hosted by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the special focuses on a lot of key moments in Sesame Street history, as well as a sort of plot where Elmo, Abby, Rosita, and Cookie Monster find the Sesame Street sign is missing and need to find it before the photo op.

It is a good special. Basically, one of its main things is bringing back every retired Muppet that was ever made, as the likes of Don Music, Sherlock Hemlock, and even the original Captain Vegetable return. Even our old friend, Kermit The Frog, manages to take time off from being Disney's property to appear in a musical number alongside Elvis Costello. Other funny moments include Cookie Monster trying to save Gunther (while being outdone by Sterling K. Brown.

And while it's good to see all these Muppets, there are some things I don't like. One segment, which is composed of classic Sesame Street scenes like the grown-ups meeting Snuffy, have Joseph inserted into them, which ruins the nostalgia of such scenes, and the forgotten muppets don't get much time to shine (Kermit being the only exception since he is owned by Disney, and Sesame Workshop probably didn't want to pay too much money to use him for more than one scene). This is still a good special.

A nice stroll down Memory Lane...A place called Sesame Street

BIg time star Joseph Gordon Levitt appeared on an HBO special, celebrating the 50th anniversary of one of the most beloved and long running childrens programs of all time. MOre than Howdy Doody, Captain Kangaroo, or anything else, Jim Hensons works with muppets like the easily recognizable Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, Elmo, Kermit and more celebrate decades of merry making, good life lessons and innocent safe learning for kids of all ages in one short special. BRinging back quite a few former guests from years past as well as a few modern day stars to sing and perform, things get a nice little modern polish to them without changing much of that classic asthetic that made this show as great as ever its been. ENjoy, this is a good 40+ minute well spent. 7.5/10 ^~^

pretty boring

Compared to a lot of the other sesame street celebrations of the past, this just doesnt compare to the other ones. when will the show even end anyway? cant it just relax in peace already?

Good for kids, now I want a doc on the early years

No kids, so haven't seen the show since I watched it as a kid. The special was good for kids, but I had no idea who most of the non-OG Muppets were. I was also wondering...why so MANY? I DO want to see them make a documentary on the early years of the show, and definitely want them to do a whole movie on.Jim Henson''s whole life. .

If I were still a kid, I would have given it 10 stars.
