Screambox Hidden Gems – 5 Horror Movies to Stream Tonight Including 1987’s ‘Munchies’
Image
The Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox is home to a variety of unique horror content, from originals and exclusives to cult classics and documentaries. With such a rapidly-growing library, there are many hidden gems waiting to be discovered.

Here are five recommendations you can stream on Screambox right now.

Nightbreed: The Director’s Cut

The sophomore directorial effort from master of horror Clive Barker, Nightbreed is by no means an obscurity among genre fans, but some may not be familiar with the director’s cut, which runs 20 minutes longer than the original version and has been reworked to better reflect Barker’s original vision. While it was virtually impossible to live up to the subversive heights of Hellraiser, Nightbreed is an admirable, if uneven, effort in its own right. Based on his 1988 novella Cabal, Barker incorporates elements of fantasy, monster movies, psychological thrillers, and slashers, but at its core Nightbreed is a love story.

Kyra Sedgwick, Jeffrey Donovan, Bill Skarsgård, and Maika Monroe in Villains (2019)
SXSW Film Review: ‘Villains’
Kyra Sedgwick, Jeffrey Donovan, Bill Skarsgård, and Maika Monroe in Villains (2019)
It’s the home invaders who find themselves imperiled in “Villains,” the third feature collaboration for directors Dan Berk and Robert Olsen. This black comedy thriller has a good cast to spark a scenario that’s intriguing enough to hold attention, if not quite clever enough to be a knockout. As an accessible, playful genre item with some familiar faces, “Villains” should have no trouble scaring up streaming and cable sales after premiering at the SXSW Film Festival.

An oddly naïf pair of felons, Mickey (Bill Skarsgard) and Jules (Maika Monroe) are introduced making their living — which is to say, donning animal masks to rob a convenience store. Bonnie and Clyde they’re not. Or perhaps they are, in that that real-life duo wasn’t particularly brainy or ambitious either, and seemingly low on alternative, law-abiding life skills. But like them, Jules and Mickey are in love, the kind of...

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom just got engaged, and the couple’s friends couldn’t be any happier for them!

Shortly after the pair confirmed the happy news by posting matching photos of themselves snuggling up together as Perry, 34, showed off her unique flower-shaped diamond ring, the congratulatory messages began pouring in.

In response to Perry’s special Valentine’s Day post, Grammy-winning hitmaker Zedd exclaimed, “Yassssssssss Queen!” The pair recently collaborated on track “365” with Perry, which was released just hours before the singer’s engagement.

Mum & Dad DVD cover art
In an industry first Revolver Entertainment’s shocker Mum and Dad will be the first ever UK film release to appear in cinemas at the same time as being available on retail DVD. Hailed as one of the most disturbing Brit-horror emerge in recent years, writer-director Steven Sheil’s Mum and Dad was partly inspired by the grisly, real-life exploits of serial killers Fred and Rosemary West. Starring Shane Meadows regular Perry Benson (Somers Town; This Is England), the film puts a new spin on the British horror genre, setting its tale very close to home (quite literally) and resulting in a brutally realistic horror story. Co-starring Dido Miles, Olga Fedori, Toby Alexander and newcomer Ainsley Howard, this boundary-pushing journey into suburban terror is not without its moments of dark humour, but, viewers be warned, M and D is definitely not a film for the squeamish.

Revolver goes day-and-date with 'Mum & Dad'
London -- British indie distributor Revolver Entertainment fired its first salvo into the multiformat day-and-date release pattern with its plans for Steven Sheil's horror "Mum & Dad."

Revolver said Monday that it would release the picture in theaters, on DVD, VOD, sell-through and rental on Dec. 26.

"Being the first U.K. distributor to release day-and-date across all platforms enables us to be the market leader in offering consumers the ultimate choice to watch the film in the way they choose, whether this is at home or on the big screen -- or both," Revolver Entertainment managing director Justin Marciano said.

Revolver said it also is exploring a similar plan for the film in the U.S. around Mother's Day, May 10.

The film revolves around a family that lives at the end of one of Heathrow Airport's runways and live off whatever they scavenge from cargo holds, offices, hotels and a steady stream of transient workers.
