Michelle Wolf: Joke Show

It suprised me

I enjoyed the show, it was not only about that men are bad, like many other female comedians create a show around. There were some clever jokes, but also a lot of absurd jokes, but for me just the right amount. I just like watching her and trying to make the crowd uncomfortable. If I compare to the other female comedians this was the best I saw.

Michelle Kills It!

Wolf is one of the few feminist comics I actually enjoy watching, and in this show, she focuses on issues regarding the gender gap/equality.

Nothing new, but still funny

If you don't mind a shrill voice, speaking on the same topics as 95% of Netflix comics, you'll enjoy this just fine. I did. Comedy can have a profound impact on the listener, raising valid points about society and the individual. And you may find a little of that here. But not a lot. Go ahead and rate this review as unhelpful if you're wanting me to say more about Wolf's approach per se, and less about my own perspectives on the issues discussed, but I want to use the second half of my review to point out one specific area where Wolf talked about the same topics as other comics, but with less nuance and insight. And that's the topic of abortion. I think comics should be free to joke about anything, especially if it's a good joke, so I don't have issue with Wolf. I just hope society sees the dehumanization abortion causes, and takes it as seriously as other areas where human beings are treated as less than human. Would we sympathize with a wifebeater who says, "Hey, my house, my rules"? Or would we sympathize with someone who owns slaves, whether out of convenience or because of a harrowing sob story showing their need for a helper they can command? One day we'll look back on how flippantly people dehumanized other genetically distinct human beings, through abortion, and we'll recognize how atrocious it is when any demographic of person is treated as property. We'll wonder how anyone cheered for it, in the same way that we wonder how the other atrocities we've seen in history went on for so long.

An irritating voice is an understatement, but okay there are some good jokes.

A lot of ten star reviews on here and I think that's just a bit exagerated. Not that Michelle Wolf isn't funny, as she has some good jokes and puns, but to think she's the best stand-up comedian ever is a little (a lot) too far fetched. Sometimes she sounds like she's giving a political speech instead of a stand-up comedy, and that's just not that funny or has it's place in a humoristic show. Her voice is irritating, she knows it and a lot of other people hear it and know it. I get it that that should not be an issue but to me it is. I couldn't imagine to have to listen to that woman all day. But okay some jokes are funny so it's still worth watching, just dim the sound.

"Joke Show" is a very appropriate title

I gave it 10. Never have I heard myself and the audience laugh so many times PER MINUTE. Michelle Wolf may be a little "screechy" but she doesn't have to spend a lot time "setting up" a joke. Everything "lands big", funny, funny, funny. Now, be warned, she talks about abortion, birth other things that you may not want to hear. But for people who are open to about any subject, oh, she's great. Netflix.

Disappointed

I really wanted to like her. I didn't laugh at what she had to say - and I really really wanted to! Alas, I don't care for shrill and loud and she is both. I could have gotten past the voice if I'd been laughing once in a while.

Her discussion on equality and women was brilliant! And so an extra star.

Hilarious

Hilarious comedy for an hour! Not sure what all the hate is for, unless people don't like her political views (of which she barely goes into) or just don't like the sound of her voice (get over it). This special was just as great as any top comedians' standup specials. I had to keep stopping and rewinding to play certain parts for my wife.

Brilliant hour

This woman gets so much flack - check the comments and ratings she gets on the Joe Rogan podcast on YouTube - that I honestly was expecting a mediocre stand-up... I'm glad I was wrong, as I laughed all throughout this feminist, pro abortion, pro lesbian hour. In fact I want more jokes from her now, she was auch a joy to listen to!

Can't review. Laughing.

It hurts to laugh this much. But it's ok. That's all I want to say but apparently my review is to short so I'll try to submit this review again.

Not Family Friendly- 100% AWESOME SHOW

I watched Michelle Wolf's Joke Show on Netflix. So glad I did! She's incredible. Her show hits on sensitive subjects, politics, taboo topics and it's wonderful. She's vulgar and it rocks! Her delivery, timing, shrill voice and laughter keeps the show hella fun and flowing. She's relatable, risky and raw. Michelle Wolf is the cousin you love to hate AND secretly admire. Looking forward to her next show.

Funny and honest

While watching Michelle Wolf, I can finally let out the breath I didn't even know I was holding. She bypasses shame and guilt and the myriad ways females are "supposed to be" and simply says it like it is. Somehow watching a cool, strong woman digging out of all the secrecy associated with being female in this culture is extraordinarily liberating. She is like a modern XX Eddie Murphy and should probably wear a full red leather body suit for her next show. Michelle nails it with just the right amount of anger and indignation while remaining cool. I could not feel more proud of being a woman while watching her perform.

Wisdom and LOLs

I was going to rate this down to a 9 because I thought it could have gone at least 20 minutes longer, but that seemed pretty counterintuitive.

Michelle Wolf, you shrill genius you. I love a comedian who makes me laugh out loud but also articulates unspoken truth in a way that gives me pause. The Joke Show is hilarious, but also emotionally and intellectually mature. As she points out in the very beginning of her routine, people are quick to anger in modern society and I'm sure plenty of people will be clutching their pearls and up in arms over some of her jokes, but this just brought me huge amounts of joy. This is one I will watch again.

Off Center

Whenever I'm watching comedians for the first time, I find I'm often waiting for the other shoe to drop. When are they going to crack that out-of-touch, offensive, or just terrible bomb of a joke?

I did not expect shoes to drop with Michelle; I enjoyed Nice Lady, I enjoyed her Netflix show, I enjoyed her press correspondence dinner. This stand-up, for whatever reason, Michelle didn't exactly drop some shoes, she just kinda cracked some jokes that didn't need to be cracked.

The opener joke, for example, goes into assault, and how we need to blur the lines for what counts as it for animals versus humans. The joke ends with her holding down an animal against their will while another animal mates with it while everyone laughs... okay.

Another joke details how she prefers massages from illegal immigrants since their massages are angrier for having to do their job for her benefit.

Then there's the joke about how the "woke" crowd needs to "go back to sleep" for they are benefiting off the slave labor of their iPhones... I guess that's how criticism works, eh? Can't criticize something you have little choice but to participate in?

The rest of the special is alright, she cracks some other tried and true jokes, makes some good observations about sexism and gender equality, but by the end, I was worried. And it didn't help she then went onto Rogan's show and was making some kinda comments less than ten minutes in about Chinese people.

Punch up, Michelle. Like maybe at gullible, upper class women who get into crystals and goop.

Unbearable...

50 percent of stand up is voice. And her voice is excruciating. Her jokes fall late. There's no complexity. I hate to say it, and of course comedy is subjective, but she goes into the pile of "women aren't funny". Of course there's exceptions in anecdotal evidence, but this woman should never be on a stage and no where near a microphone. Why do we do this? You know the answer.

Disappointed

Listen, I think wolf is funny. I've listened to her on podcasts and when she roasted those politicians at that dinner witch was hilarious. Needless to say I was looking forward to watching this special. I got about ten minutes in and turned it off. The While trailer for the special consist entirely of her first bit. And since her first bit was material I would expect to see at a open mic show. I Didn't have high hopes for the rest of her routine. I love comedy. Pretty much every podcast cast I listen to is all comedians. And if you listen to comedians podcast they love to talk about comedy so I feel I am pretty well versed on the subject. Like most Netflix specials You can skip this one.

Starts strong, but gets more cringy and less funny as it progresses.

I like Michelle and her comedy. But this wasn't her strongest work (or delivery for that matter).

This brand of comedy feels like a classroom conquered and run by a band of unruly kids. They're not funny, don't practice good comedy, yet consider themselves edgy, woke and more relevant than the rest of the world....sorry, I don't think so.
