Don't trust the 10/10, they're probably bots.

I was pretty curious about this movie which, at the time of my review, reaches an average of 8.9/10.

Curious and also doubtful cause i'm quite a fan of horror movies, and i never heard of it. So i knew something was wrong. Well, this movie is.

The title has no freaking connection with the movie, the acting is not good (not really bad either, just "awh"), yet the photography is ok. The story goes in every direction, piling up stereotype elements of horror without developing them.

It's not awfull, but hell it doesn't deserve more than a 5/10 imo.

About the 10/10 ratings, many of the reviewers have only 1 rating, one more proof that they're fake.

(Pardon my english, i'm french and not used to review, i was just angry with all those bots so i had to notice you)

Huh??

After watching our hero chop wood for waaay to long to be interesting, interspersed with occasional shots of our heroine driving, their sexy banter reveals them to be brother and sister? It only goes downhill from there.

Despite the lowercase i in the title, no technology was harmed in the making of this film, and other than an occasional phone call and one text message, we get no explanation. A screening audience was told the original script featured a haunted iPhone, and though the movie changed, the title didn't.

The "twist" in the movie seems like they had to force it in with a crowbar, as it makes no sense and adds nothing to the story.

The lead actor is also the writer, and the producer, and with him phoning in a performance more wooden than all the logs he spent time chopping at the film's opening sequence, this comes off like a vanity piece, rather than the suspenseful supernatural thriller we expected.

Sadly, though the other actors are all much more equipped for the job, everyone comes off as very one dimensional and there is no character development. They are all good in their roles, especially the female lead, but she is underutilized and we don't get to know anyone else well enough to care what happens to them... A continuity editor could have helped with some scenes, but the camera work is great, and the score is wonderful.

Ugh, no...

First of all, I have to say that the movie's title sounds really stupid. But I still opted to watch the movie on account of it being a movie that I hadn't already seen, nor actually ever heard about. So in a sense, directors Jerry Sommer and Carl Rimi had every opportunity to entertain and impress me.

Now, the movie has Carl Rimi as a director, writer and star, and that is just something that raises a lot of red flags for me, as movies with one guy filling out each role such as this tends to be questionable movies.

I have to admit that it was amazing that writers Carl Rimi, Javier Mayol and Maurice Jovan Billington collectively could manage to conjure up such a weak and thin script and storyline. There was very little to be enjoyed throughout the course of the movie, and lots of things made very little sense, often times feeling like the writers had been working independently of one another, and thus creating a rather disjointed storyline.

I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list, and that was actually something that spoke in favor of the movie, as I enjoy watching new and unfamiliar talents on the screen. The acting performances were somewhat fair, though I failed to understand why writer, director and star Carl Rimi had to be taking off his shirt in nearly every scene; it was just ridiculous.

The movie doesn't really use a lot of special effects, but I will say that whatever effects were in the movie were fair enough. Not great, but fair.

If you enjoy horror movies, do yourself a favor and don't waste 104 minutes on watching "IPossessed". Some of us suffered through this ordeal of a movie, so you don't have to; you're quite welcome.

And the movie's title still made no sense, even after having suffered through what passed as a horror movie for some reason.

My rating of directors Jerry Sommer and Carl Rimi 2025 movie "IPossessed" lands on a three out of ten stars.

Don't trust the 10 star rating

To anyone reading this let me warn you in advance. DONT! This film had true potential to be something memorable but they had to waste it.

The movie is slow, the main character doesn't even know how to act , his facial expression is blunt!

This is a true piece of time wasting nonsense. The writers could have done a lot with it but failed at that

I won't be surprised at the 10+ rating these are probably bots to inflate it's rating. You will surely save your two hours if you avoid watching this horror show

I love a good horror suspense film....

...sadly this isn't either. The opening sequence itself had me questioning whether I had read the wrong synopsis - what on earth? Some spectacularly cardboard acting from every actor that showed up on screen (aside from the cows - stirling job from them, setting the bar very high in the opening sequence!).

I just couldn't get past the cliches - spooky neighbour although in middle of nowhere? Check. Spliff smoking buddy? Check. Strange noises with logical explanations? Check. Did someone ask Siri or Alexa what the top typical ingredients for a horror were?

Definitely suspicious of the many 10 ratings on here, I know not everyone reviews every film they watch but seems wonderfully coincidental doesn't it.

If you've really got nothing else doing then by all means give it a go, expect the bar to be lower than a champion limbo dancer would attempt and then perhaps you'll be mildly surprised?

A Must-Watch Psychological Thriller That Delivers Suspense, Social Commentary, and Outstanding Performances

Don't miss this horror movie, a psychological thriller that stands out as one of the best I've seen in recent years. From the very beginning, it grips you with an intense and unsettling atmosphere, keeping you on edge until the very last minute. The film is masterfully crafted, not only delivering suspense and horror but also exploring deep and relevant social issues that resonate with the world we live in today.

Every scene feels meticulously planned, with a strong narrative that successfully conveys a meaningful message. The performances are outstanding, bringing the characters to life in a way that makes the tension and emotions feel incredibly real. The direction is equally impressive, seamlessly blending psychological tension with moments of sheer terror.

Overall, this movie exceeded my expectations in every way. It's a thought-provoking, well-executed film that goes beyond traditional horror, making it a must-watch for fans of the genre.

A rather fun if overall flawed possession effort

Returning home from the war, a retired Army veteran decides to hold a housewarming party with his friends and family at a new farmhouse he's purchased, but when his struggles with the war threaten to interfere in the night, a demonic possession proves to be the least of his worries.

This was a fairly fun if somewhat flawed genre effort. When this one works well is due to the main setup involving the means of possession and how the group is caught up in the act. The initial gathering at the house and letting everyone go through their initial introductions showing them trying to bond over the past and what happened to them while they were in the war which starts to affect the rest of the trip gets this one off to a strong start with the whole thing bringing up the possession incredibly well. As the traumatic events in the past get shared and the idea of the possessed figure forcing them into the open to discuss the issues they've long since forgotten about and buried, it causes the film to delve into an uncomfortable series of discussions and revelations about what's going on that include infidelity, accidental pregnancies, and other incidents that are soon revealed leading to plenty of graphic deaths here for a lot to like about it. While these features come together rather well, the whole thing is soon undone by the inability to make the possession a prominent threat at the expense of the trauma porn the rest of the film delves into. After setting up the stages of the possession and whether it's true or not, the individual simply sits soundly doing nothing, letting the others play out their conversations without interference. This drastically reduces the tension and fear of what's going on by going for endless dialogue scenes about their tortured pasts and buried secrets, without getting the kind of supernatural action that was promised when it was initially brought about, that a demonic possession was bringing up. That causes the other issue here in that it focuses so heavily on these aspects of grief and trauma that it's not nearly as interesting or thrilling as it thinks it is going through the mindset as it falls into a series of cliches that are part of the genre inherently through using these tactics, all of which bring this one down.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Language and Graphic Violence.

Relevant Thriller: A Must Watch!!

IPossessed is an intense psychological thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. You think you know what is happening and then a new twist comes along and keeps you thinking. I appreciate the way it approaches taboo and relevant cultural topics, showing that you don't have to carry shame or guilt for decisions and events that have come up in your life.

The character development, setting and storyline blend perfectly giving a fully conceptualized theme from start to finish.

Secrets, secrets are no fun... IPossessed makes you think and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end!!

Wow a horror movie with likable characters

Well they are likable at first. The movie does a good job getting you invested in the characters before....ya know. It also has a few laughs but not too many. There's some heavier topics addressed (not including the ax murdering) that would have derailed the movie with too much "Ha Ha". I would have liked if the lore about the entity and the Creole Man was fleshed out a little more but the length of the movie was definitely spot on. I think the Creole Man might actually be the more interesting character. You will feel a bit of sympathy for sure. Balancing the development of 3 dimensional characters while keeping a tight run time seems to create a bit of a trade off which had me making "head cannon" to fill the gaps but the characters were better for it.

As a fan of Indy horror I've seen lots of great ideas and even more bad ones. IPossessed is a solid entry and does stand out from many of its peers.

Lastly Sebastian sucks (not the actor...sorry). I was very happy with how his story played out.

Great Movie

My wife has a deep appreciation for these kinds of movies, and I often play the role of the critic, picking apart the plotlines and character development. However, I have to confess that this time was different. I went in with my usual skepticism, expecting to find flaws, but to my surprise, I found nothing to critique. From the very first scene, the film captured my attention in a way that I didn't anticipate. The pace was perfect, the storytelling compelling, and the characters were well-drawn and relatable. I was completely hooked, unable to look away as the narrative unfolded. By the time the credits rolled, I realized I had been fully engaged from start to finish, swept up in the story and invested in the outcome. It was a refreshing experience to genuinely enjoy a film without the urge to nitpick, and I have to credit the filmmakers for creating something truly captivating.

Slow start

I felt the movie had a slow start but it definitely got better. I enjoyed the storyline. It certainly kept your attention and kept you guessing as to what was happening. There were a lot of little things to notice that were very cool. Once you got past the slow start, it got pretty exciting. The big negative for me was the acting - especially in the beginning and especially the main character. It felt like a bad horror film at first. Zoe and Buckley were top notch in their roles but Tad just didn't win me over. His acting felt forced. I really hope they have some success with this film as they have put their heart and soul into it.

This Is Some Gourmet S***

The movie starts with a slow build-up, which I chalked off as a negative at first but felt it was actually the right decision considering the emotional trauma/struggle theme throughout. It doesn't rely on overplayed tropes, and it certainly doesn't go the direction you'd expect from a possession film (a breath of fresh air). Meeting the cast AFTER watching this film really helped solidify how far they had to stretch from their norm. Also, the dialogue, which is a huge thing for me, was top notch. Well-paced, clever banter, and it felt very natural! Zoe killed it, but everyone was legendary. I didn't have any intention on catching this film, but I'm happy I did. Time well spent!

An original take on a possession film full of unexpected twists

IPossessed scratches every itch that is craved by a fan of the horror/thriller/paranormal genre. The film weaves together familiar elements of paranormal stories, while maintaining a distinct identity. It is FULL of unpredictable twists and turns, and pays off with an intense, jaw-dropping closing scene.

The acting was also very strong. Meghan Carrasquillo was very endearing as Zoe (and terrifying post-transformation as the demon.) I actually wished there was more of her in the second half of the film. Carl Rimi as Tad excelled as a veteran who seems to be experiencing a hard time readjusting to civilian life. Carl did a great job portraying intense emotions for a character who is set up to be rather stoic.

Overall, the strength of the film lies in the unique twists and the bold plot choices. Definitely worth the watch!

Best movie I've seen in 2025 so far

A very well thought out script that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The acting was great, music was good. It appeared everything had a purpose from how they shot a scene to the dialogue between characters. It's been a long time since a movie kept my undivided attention from start to finish! This was a movie I felt I could not get and leave to get more popcorn or take a bathroom break because I felt every second away I was going to miss something. Now that I have seen the film I look forward to watching it again to see all the little details that I might have missed the first time around. I love movies that make you think. Well done!!!

Not a big horror fan..but WOW

I am not a big horror movie buff by no means, my wife sure is. So I went in expecting a slasher type movie, the blood and guts type you seem to expect from "horror" movies, but boy was I wrong. This was more of a thriller, kept you really thinking from one scene to the next, what did I miss? Where is this going? From the beginning to end as the characters and story developed, I became more and more enthralled. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the characters develop and the action was great, the cinematic experience was really good as well a real in depth thriller, and some nice little humor sprinkled in.

Impressed

It's been a very long time since i have seen a scary movie so i was a little hesitant in the beginning but to my amaze it was more of a psychological thriller with some scary parts. There was a Q&A after the movie so it was really cool to see what the vision was and how it all came to be. You would never guess this was an independent film. The acting was incredible and the special affects were insane. I liked it so much I went and preordered it on Apple TV since I'm not sure when it will actually hit the theaters as this was only a screening for one night in our town . Moral of the story GO see this movie . It's suspenseful, scary and has a great a story line that touches on real life situations .

Great psychological thriller

It starts with a shocking opening scene, then takes its time while it builds to an even more shocking climax. Kept my attention the whole time. Interesting characters. This ain't no amateur film. Excellent special effects. The acting is top notch. This is not a horror film, per se. There's a message to it, but it's not overbearing or corny. If you like psychological thrillers, you will like this film as well. One thing they do right in this film is provide a lot of detail, all of which is relevant to the storyline and has a bearing on the climax. It's even better to watch the second time around. Strongly recommend.

Well Made

We saw this film at a screening with the producers and actors. I had seen the trailer and thought I already had it figured out. I was surprised more than once and didn't expect the ending. The musical score was really well done and kept me feeling nervous/unsure what was about to happen. It was really cool to hear the producers explain some of the behind the scenes work that went into the film. Seems they really have put a ton of effort into this project and paid attention to the details. I typically go for silly comedies but enjoyed this more than I expected and it did a good job of delivering different perspectives on some complicated topics.

iPossessed Of the conjuring independents...

You'll be on the edge of your seat, sensing an eerie presence behind you. This psychological thriller/horror is a must-watch, and I highly recommend it. As a strong advocate for independent films, I was thoroughly captivated. The cast delivered outstanding performances, leaving room for a potential sequel or prequel. The experience was reminiscent of sinister classics like The Exorcist. This is a must watch for any horror / psychological thriller fan. Carl as an army ranger was phenomenal made you believe he was a true veteran, specially do anything for sister. I can't wait to watch this again and own it. Definitely check out iPossessed it has a deep message.

Best Film of 2025!!

IPossessed is an absolute thrill ride that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The suspense is almost unbearable at times, making every moment feel like it could escalate into something truly terrifying. The filmmakers did a fantastic job of building tension with every scene, keeping you guessing what's coming next.

The story itself is brilliant. It weaves in unexpected twists and turns that completely catch you off guard. What I loved most was how the narrative constantly kept you on your toes, with secrets unfolding at just the right pace. It's one of those films where you think you know where it's headed, but the surprises never stop coming.

The performances from the actors were equally impressive. Each cast member delivered their role with such intensity that it felt impossible to look away. They brought the suspense to life, making the eerie atmosphere even more chilling.

Overall, iPossessed is a must-watch for any horror fan. It's got the perfect balance of mystery, horror, and pure suspense-an amazing story brought to life by an outstanding cast. I can't wait to see more from this team!

A great combination of Horror, Suspense, and everyday issues that people face

An outstanding combination of horror and suspense with some light moments perfectly inserted into the script. Also portrays issues that we all face to some extent in life. Very good acting for many who were on screen for the first time. The movie was originally designed as a comedy but the change to the horror element was extremely well done. Even the horror scenes themselves were done very professionally with minimal exposure to overly gruesome screen shots. Carl did a great job of not only portraying the lead character but also directing the film as well. A great watch for those who like horror and suspense movies.

! Wild ride - Deep message! Forgive and Live

A unique, captivating story told in a compelling way while gradually and masterfully articulating a powerful message of truth! Hidden darkness kills, light revealed brings life!

Every characters develop in unexpected ways and there are twists and turns around every corner.

The special effects are done well and there are a couple of jump scares that I love. The intensity builds consistently and the ending is freakin' dope!

Tons of layers and clues interwoven in an intriguing way. Can't wait to watch it again in order to catch all the hidden gems I missed on the first run!

Highly recommend!!

Quality Psychological Thriller/Horror Movie!!!

Let me begin by saying, I am not a horror fan, and do not enjoy that film genre. However, regardless of your style and taste, a good movie, is a good movie. And iPossessed is a good movie! I thoroughly enjoyed iPossessed from beginning to end. It is an excellent psychological thrilled/horror film that has you glued to your seat the entire film. The storyline was interesting, the directing was well done, it was well shot, and the film moved along at a good pace. All of the actors were wonderful, and you were thoroughly invested in each character's storyline. I highly recommend this film to horror and non-horror fans. If you are looking for a unique and quality movie, you will enjoy iPossessed!
