Dr. Mitch Ripley (Luke Mitchell) has become one of the most familiar faces on Chicago Med. True, he's been through quite a bit in season 10, but the character's inherent decency and his desire to change has made him extremely easy to root for.
The actor who plays Ripley may be relatively new to the One Chicago universe, but that doesn't mean he's unfamiliar with it. In fact, Luke Mitchell came up with a deep cut choice when asked which of the previous Med characters he'd like to see return to the show.
Who played Dr. Isidore Latham on Chicago Med?
The actor told Cbr that he would push to bring Dr. Isidore Latham back to Gaffney Medical Center to spice things up. If the name doesn't immediately ring a bell, don't worry. Latham was never a central cast member, but rather a recurring presence during seasons 2-5.

Chicago Med star Luke Mitchell recently revealed how he'd like one of the show's former stars to return. The two previously worked together on a short-lived television series.
Speaking with Cbr, Mitchell spoke about Ato Essandoh, the actor who portrayed Dr. Isidore Latham as a series regular in Seasons 2-5 of NBC's hit medical drama from Dick Wolf. Essandoh returned in Season 6 as a guest star, but hasn't shared any scenes with Mitchell, who joined the cast in Season 9. "He's got a headshot on one of the sets -- a framed headshot of his character -- and I've taken a selfie in front of it and sent it to him," Mitchell said of Essandoh. "I love Ato. I'd love for him to come back, but I think the guy is just, he's too good of an actor. He's always working. He's booked out."

Mitch Ripley is surely self-destructing in Chicago Med Season 10, which is giving actor Luke Mitchell plenty to work with. Ripley is dealing with the death of his childhood friend Sully and everything that comes with it in the worst way -- and in Episode 15, he's going to face a whole other challenge. "Down in a Hole" puts Ripley into the field with Chicago Fire's Randy "Mouch" McHolland to save an endangered child, but how far will he go?
In an interview with Cbr, Mitchell previewed the upcoming episode and spoke about working with veteran One Chicago co-stars like Christian Stolte and Chicago Med's Oliver Platt. He also discussed Ripley's challenging Season 10 arc, and what part of it has been difficult for him as an actor. Plus, what has it been like for Mitchell to reunite with his Republic of Sarah co-star on Chicago Med?
Cbr: What has the experience of playing Dr.

As far as prequel series go, Dexter: Original Sin did a fine job of bringing the origin story of Dexter Morgan from Dexter to life. This, most notably, included the building of The Code with his father Harry which shaped Dexter’s vigilante killer mentality for the rest of his life. The series marks the second spin-off in the franchise following Dexter: New Blood, which continued the story years after Dexter left off. The next in sequence will be Dexter: Resurrection, coming this summer.
As a prequel, Dexter: Original Sin features an entirely new cast of actors playing younger versions of characters from the original, along with new characters. In some cases, there are new actors playing characters seen only in flashbacks in Dexter. Now that the first season has ended, however, fans are eager to learn if it will be coming back for a second.

Can you believe it’s been over a decade since Spartacus first brought its blood-soaked, action-packed drama to our screens? Back in 2010, this hit show redefined the historical epics with its unapologetic intense storytelling and raw actions. Though Gladiator and Rome did lay the groundwork for sword-and-sandal greatness, Spartacus intensified the level, delivering four seasons of unforgettable action.
Of course, it wasn’t just the on-screen drama that had us hooked to our screens, behind the scenes, the heartbreaking loss of Andy Whitfield after Season 1 broke our hearts. But the series persevered, with Liam McIntyre stepping in to finish this epic saga of the Thracian rebel leader.

Director and executive producer Kat Coiro explains what the future holds for Kathy Bates' Matlock TV series.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Coiro was asked what the series has in store once it returns from its mid-season break in 2024. "It’s Matlock. It’s always going to star Matty," Coiro responded. "But I think one of the things that’s been really exciting watching the series unfold is having all the lead characters have their moment, and really seeing them blossom and come into their own. [To see] Sarah, Billy, Julian and Senior, these characters that, in the beginning, really served Matty and Olivia’s story, kind of coming into their own storylines and becoming really fleshed out, I think people will love that."

Warning! This article contains spoilers for the first episode of CBS' Matlock.Following an impressive 100% Rotten Tomatoes score, Kathy Bates' Matlock reboot earned CBS another major record with its premiere on September 22. With only one episode under its belt, Matlock is already setting itself apart from other reboots. The first episode shocked viewers with a surprise ending, revealing that Bates' Matty is actually Madeline Kingston, a woman out for revenge on the law firm she believes had a hand in the death of her daughter.
According to Nielsen's live-plus-same-day numbers (via TheWrap), Matlock brought in 7.73 million viewers. That makes it CBS' most-watched non-Superbowl premiere since The Code in April 2019, which aired after an episode of NCIS. The law drama series scored 7.73 million viewers, according to Nielsen live-plus-same-day figures. Its Sunday premiere stands as CBS’ most-watched non-Superbowl premiere in over five years, since the debut of “The Code” in April 2019, which followed “NCIS.”

After debuting its first episode as a sneak peek on Sunday, “Matlock” will return Thursday, Oct. 17 at 9 p.m. Et/Pt in its regularly scheduled night and timeslot.
The “Matlock” pilot introduced Bates as Madeline Matlock, who utilized her unassuming demeanor to make her way into a position at a prestigious law firm, Jacobson Moore.

All hail Kathy Bates. The Oscar-winning veteran’s return to broadcast TV with CBS’ Matlock delivered Live+Same Day linear viewership numbers we rarely see anymore. The “sneak peak” premiere of Jennie Snyder Uraman’s reimagening of the Andy Griffith classic with Bates as the eponymous attorney averaged 7.73 million viewers Sunday in time adjusted Fast National L+Sd Nielsen ratings.
That was CBS’ largest audience for a non-post-Super Bowl series premiere in five and a half years, since The Code‘s April 9, 2019 debut after NCIS.
While benefitting from some Steelers-Chargers halo effect — and free promotion via Chargers star Scott Matlock’s jersey — Matlock did not immediately follow the game; it aired behind its lead-out, newsmagazine 60 Minutes.
Time-adjusted numbers for 60 Minutes are not available (CBS’ primetime was delayed in a few East Coast markets), but preliminary estimates suggest that Matlock built upon its 60 Minutes lead-in by about 1 million viewers.

CBS’ update on Matlock brought in a strong audience for its premiere Sunday night.
The legal drama starring Kathy Bates — which shares a name and basic premise with the 1980s-90s series starring Andy Griffith, but not much else — brought in 7.73 million viewers for its debut. Excluding shows that debuted after the Super Bowl, that’s the largest series premiere audience for a CBS show in more than five years (since The Code followed an NCIS episode in April 2019).
The 7.73 million viewers also would have ranked in the top five among CBS’ same-day audiences for scripted shows last season (again, not including the post-Super Bowl premiere for Tracker).
Matlock turned in the biggest same-day audience among the handful of network shows that had season or series premieres last week (the Nielsen-measured 2024-25 season officially begins Monday). Among the others, ABC’s Dancing With the Stars drew the biggest total...

Aubrey Plaza just made her debut on The Howard Stern Show, and fans can't stop talking about her unusual demeanor. Even the host was reportedly thrown off behind the scenes. Howard Stern, like most fans, was expecting the "awkward queen" to grace the show. But either the actress wasn't in the mood or the host just didn't know how to handle his guest's personality, like Stephen Colbert's "intimate moment" with Plaza.
While The White Lotus alum shared shocking details about her stroke when she was 20, Stern seemed more interested in her new project with Francis Ford Coppola, Megalopolis. Unfortunately, Plaza wasn't feeling the topic. Here's why the multimillionaire radio host felt like "pulling teeth" during the interview.

Ahead of its world premiere at the Fantasia Film Festival, The Code announced itself with several red flags. Set during the Coronavirus pandemic in 2021 with a synopsis throwing around terms like “cancel culture,” it stars Dasha Nekrasova and Peter Vack, filmmakers and divisive personalities who some might describe as reactionary trolls. This combination of hot-button issues with two leads known for pushing buttons could signal no more than empty provocation. Would The Code amount to a middle finger jabbed repeatedly in viewers’ eyes? Surprisingly, and thankfully, no. This is, first and foremost, a film by Eugene Kotlyarenko, and the choice to cast two controversial actors ties into his goals of engaging headfirst with the internet’s dominance and reshaping of culture over the past several years. While its attempts aren’t always successful, The Code makes an admirable effort to embrace what some might call the worst aspects of how we live now,...

Grab your magnifying glass, deerstalker hat, and pipe, fellow TV Fanatics, because a new Holmes-inspired show called Watson is coming to television screens everywhere as a midseason treat for the 2024-2025 broadcast schedule.
Interestingly, this will be the second CBS series to adapt the Sherlock stories, the first being Elementary, starring Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock Holmes and Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson.
The upcoming series, Watson, won't take place in the same universe, but as it shares similar elements, it'll be an amazing new show for audiences who miss the 2012 series that ended after seven seasons in 2019.
Some viewers might find the premise a touch different from the usual murder mystery plot in a good Sherlock Holmes story, but don't worry -- we're here to tell you everything we know so far!

Eurovision Song Contest 2024 crowned its winner! With 591 points, Switzerland won it all with their song "The Code" by Nemo. The 24-year-old artist from the bilingual town of Biel/Bienne is non-binary and proved that their artistry and vocal prowess was the magic formula that broke the code. This year's contest has been bogged down by outside drama that has infiltrated into the competition, but within the competition itself, it has been filled with acceptance and visibility with the crop of artists that range the spectrum of identity. It's fitting that, with a mission of peace set out by the artists, the winner is the epitome of the message. Eurovision's theme was "United by Music." The artists did more than that. They used their platform on the world's biggest musical stage to unite and celebrate all people. As Abba says, "Thank you for the music."...

It speaks to the turmoil of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest that in the days after its end, the winner seems to be an afterthought and instead, the focus remains on the divisive nature of the competition.
Nonbinary singer Nemo won with their track “The Code,” totting up an enormous 591 points from a combination of juries in each participating country and the worldwide public. Croatia placed second with 547 points at the event in Malmö, Sweden, after thrilling viewers with an upbeat hit. Ukraine came in third with 453 points. Rounding out the top five were France (445 points) and Israel (375 points).
But it was a Eurovision that organizers might be in a hurry to forget. Reports of unrest among the contestants and country delegations ran amok on social media. Rumors of entrants missing rehearsals, flags being pulled down and claims of misconduct backstage hugely disrupted the usually peppy Eurovision build-up. The...

Thousands took to the streets in Malmö, Sweden to protest the Israel-Hamas war and the decision to allow Israel’s contestant Eden Golan to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest and its Saturday final. Some estimates said there were more than 15,000 protesters, though police pegged the demonstration at between 6,000 and 8,000 demonstrators. Ukraine also won an impressive 307 points from the popular vote. In
Equally controversial was Portugal’s singer Lolanda, who ended her performance with “Peace will prevail” while viewers noted her nails were painted with the Palestinian Keffiyeh.

Switzerland has won the Eurovision Song Contest.
Swiss entry Nemo stormed the contest with the song “The Code,” walking away with 591 points — a combination of a jury vote and public vote.
But during Nemo’s victory performance at the end of the four-hour show the singer accidentally dropped the microphone-shaped glass trophy, injuring their thumb in the process.
“I didn’t just break ‘The Code’ I also broke the trophy,” said Nemo during the press conference after the show, where their hand was wrapped in a bandage. “I broke my thumb as well. But I got a new [trophy] so I technically have two now.”
The non-binary singer — who is the first Swiss Eurovision winner since Celine Dion won in 1988 — was presented with the trophy by last year’s winner, Swedish singer Loreen.
Croatian entry Baby Lasagna came in second with 547 points during the 2024 contest followed by Ukraine’s Alyona Alyona...

Before Luke Mitchell made a home on Chicago Med this season, the ubiquitous Australian actor appeared on many, many TV shows, including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Blindspot, The Code, Legacies and Big Sky.
But it’s Mitchell’s breakout Stateside role on The CW’s The Tomorrow People, where he played the superpowered group’s leader John Young, that stands out for the actor. When asked which of his past characters he would like to revisit, Mitchell is quick to single out the short-lived series, which aired during the 2013-14 TV season.

The 2024 Eurovision Song Contest is now right on our doorstep. Organized by the European Broadcasting Union (Ebu), the Eurovision Song Contest is the most famous, extravagant music competition in existence with various European countries competing to be crowned the year’s winner and host the next year’s competition.
Before the grand final, however, two semi-finals take place. The top 10 in each semi-final then go through to the final, where they are joined by the host country (the winner of the previous year) and the Big Five — who all qualify automatically. Then, each country performs and vies for votes.
After the performances, every member of the Ebu dials in and dishes out 1-8, 10, and 12 points to their favorite songs – with the points decided via a combination of public votes and jury decisions in each country. Whichever country amasses the most points wins.
