“The Damage Has Been Done”: ‘Jackass’ Star, 45, Reveals Why He's Never Going Back to the Franchise
Image
Jackass’ Bam Margera has made up his mind about a potential reunion, and fans won’t be too thrilled. The former skateboarder became a popular culture icon thanks to the MTV shows that featured unforgettable stunt performances and pranks. It aired between October 2000 and August 2001, with reruns extending into 2002. Starring in this cringe comedy was a regular cast ensemble, including Margera, Johnny Knoxville, Chris Pontius, Ryan Dunn, Steve-o, Dave England, Ehren McGhehey, Jason "Wee Man" Acuña, and Preston Lacy.

In a recent CinemaBlend interview with Margera, the TV personality dished on the subject of returning to Jackass, which he was not entirely against; however, reuniting with his crew was out of the question. Explaining why, he said:

“They have like new dudes, and what they did to me, making me go to treatment and paying for it, and then not putting me in a movie, and, you know, I had...

Fox's 'Fear Factor' Reboot Hires 'Jackass' Johnny Knoxville as New Host
Image
Fear Factorhas found a new home on Fox, and with it comes a new host who knows a little something about putting themselves in dangerous situations. Fear Factor originally aired on NBC for seven seasons and was hosted by Joe Rogan before being revived in the 2010s with Ludacris taking over hosting duties on MTV. Now the reality show that sees contestants compete in horrifying stunts will air on Fox with none other than Jackass' Johnny Knoxville acting as the series host.

Variety reports that Johnny Knoxville will serve as the host of Fox's Fear Factor reboot, titled Fear Factor: The Next Chapter. The series will debut on Fox during the 2025-2026 television season. The series will feature a format similar to the original series of contestants doing stunts like eating bugs or jumping from massive heights, but a new added element will be the contestants living together in a remote location.

Fear Factor Reboot Taps Johnny Knoxville as Host
Image
Johnny Knoxville has been tapped to host the all-new Fear Factor: The Next Chapter (working title), it was announced today by Michael Thorn, President of Fox Television Network. The iconic reality competition Fear Factor is coming back bigger, bolder, and more daring.

Dropped into an unforgiving, remote location, a group of strangers will live together under one roof, and face mind-blowing stunts, harrowing challenges, and a twisted game of social strategy where trust is fleeting — and fear is a weapon. Only one contestant will conquer all their fears and walk away with the massive grand prize.

“Johnny Knoxville is the champion of fearless entertainment,” said Michael Thorn, President of Fox Television Network. “His wild sense of humor, unmatched ability to push boundaries and take on the extreme makes him the perfect fit to lead this bold new reinvention of Fear Factor.”

“When you reimagine a series as legendary as Fear Factor,...

The 15 Best 3D Movies, Ranked
Image
There was a point in time when Hollywood studios thought 3D was the shining, sprawling future of cinema. Granted, a lot of 3D movies throughout the past 15 years have been gimmicky to the point of predictability, or they've been otherwise "regular" 2D movies with the three-dimensional effect artlessly and indifferently tacked on for a higher ticket price, which might account for why the novelty gradually wore off over time and stopped being the talk of the town..

Still, during the tech's heyday at the turn of the 2010s, a lot of thoughtful filmmakers made interesting, productive use of 3D in a variety of ways, creating a collective body of work that ensures dark multiplex goggles will be remembered as a genuine new frontier -- as opposed to a quaint little fad -- in film history books. From exuberant action blockbuster flicks to immersive documentaries to radical avant-garde experiments in animation and live-action alike,...

The 6 Most Insane Stunts From Comedy Movies
Image
After a century of non-recognition for their broken bones and unsightly bruises, movie stunt designers are finally getting their own Oscar. It’s about time stunt guys and gals get their flowers for death-defying feats. But forget Mission: Impossible Xiv and the next James Bond — many comedies are stuffed with outrageous acts of physical prowess, too.

Here are six of the most insane stunts from classic comedies…

1 Jackass 3D

The Guardian couldn’t get enough of this tour de force, featuring Steve O in a port-o-potty that’s shot into the air like a rocket. But wait — the flying toilet is tethered to the earth with bungee cords, meaning Steve O gets doused in doo-doo with each bounce. If the Academy had its act together in 2010, the Jackass team could have claimed its Oscar.

2 Safety Last!

The fact that Harold Lloyd hanging from a clock hand in 1923 still inspires sweaty...

The 8 Best American Horror Movie Remakes, Ranked
Image
Horror films have always been a way to interrogate the anxieties of a time, society, or culture and reflect them to the viewer -- like a twisted funhouse mirror. Fear is a universal emotion and history is known to repeat itself, so horror is a genre filled with remakes, some of which are very good. Sometimes, like in the case of Leigh Whannell's "The Invisible Man," a remake evolves into something entirely different than the original story to better resonate with modern audiences. And sometimes a remake is, unfortunately, nothing more than a blatant cash grab from a studio looking to squeeze some blood out of the all-holy stone of "Recognizable IP."

And then there are the most controversial of all remakes: the Americanized remake.

Despite the knee-jerk reaction claiming otherwise, American remakes are neither inherently inadequate nor synonymous with "unnecessary." TV shows like "Shameless" and "The Office" are American remakes,...

Johnny Knoxville Shares What It Would Take for Jackass 5 to Happen
Image
Johnny Knoxville has taken a beating as one of the stars of the Jackass franchise, but he's still not officially counting out another round. The actor has teased that Jackass 5 is a possibility, though it would have to be something that came up spontaneously if it ever happens.

Knoxville recently took part in a new interview with Cbr's Kevin Polowy to discuss the actor's new film, Sweet Dreams. During the conversation, Knoxville was asked if there might be a fifth Jackass movie or if Jackass Forever would serve as his swan song. He shared that he'll never say that it's impossible, but it's not something that's in the works at this time. Knoxville clarified that Jackass movies are never planned ahead, so he's not discounting that an idea could come along to get the gang back together for part five in the future.

“It was a really hard recovery”: Johnny Knoxville’s Encounter With a Bull During Jackass Forever Was So Bad It Sent Him into Depression
Image
Considering how many serious injuries the Jackass cast members have suffered over the years, one would think that even before Jackass Forever, they had reached the limit of their willingness to pull off dangerous stunts. Jackass Forever is the fourth movie in Jeff Tremaine’s reality comedy film series, which came after Jackass 3D (2010).

However, the filming process was interrupted by some of the ludicrous, and risky stunts that resulted in injuries to the main character of the franchise. Indeed, Johnny Knoxville earlier talked about the major bull stunt that caused him to suffer brain damage and has revealed whether or not he regrets being a part of such a risky act.

Also, note that the critics did give the film favorable reviews; in fact, a number of them thought it was the best in the series.

Jackass 5 Would Risk Too Much Disappointment After The $559M Franchise's Perfect Ending
Image
Jackass 5 could be a step too far for the franchise, potentially undoing the success of Jackass Forever. Jackass Forever was praised by critics and served as a perfect ending for the original crew, with a heartwarming final montage. The chances of Jackass 5 happening are uncertain, but with a new cast introduced in Jackass Forever, it's not impossible. Paramount might see value in reviving the franchise.

Jackass has become increasingly welcomed by critics with each consecutive release, but Jackass 5 could be a step too far. The Jackass franchise, which follows a group of friends intentionally putting themselves in danger, has become a huge phenomenon that spans a whole MTV series, four movies, several bonus outtake movies, and the spinoff Bad Grandpa. The Jackass movies have grossed over $570 million in total (via The Numbers). When a franchise makes that much money with such low budgets, it only makes sense to continue the series.

“We Want The Terrible S—t”: Steve-o Candidly Defends Jackass Against Outdated Accusations
Image
Steve-o candidly defends Jackass against accusations of it being outdated. The original series, created by Jeff Tremaine, Spike Jonze, and Johnny Knoxville, aired on MTV back in 2000, and followed a group of stunt performers who attempted various over the top pranks. While the franchise has grown in popularity, releasing several feature films including Jackass 3D and 2022's Jackass Forever, some of the humor and dangerous actions recorded have become a source of contention among audiences.

Previous disclaimers attached to Jackass have called attention to the severity of its stunts, but in recent years, they added that the show is outdated. During an interview with NME, Steve-o shares his thoughts on the latest criticisms. He notes how performers want to be involved in the crazy things that happen and that "none of the pranks are malicious." Read Steve-o's comments regarding the Jackass accusations below:

Steve-o Says It Was a 'Bummer' to Watch Jackass Forever
Image
While it was fun to get the old gang back together for some new hijinks in Jackass Forever, franchise favorite Steve-o admits that he has a hard time watching the film. Released last year, Jackass Forever served as a reunion movie that brought back Steve-o along with several other original stars from the series. Like old times, the gang had been pulling off pranks on one another along with some very dangerous stunts.

One such stunt for the film saw Johnny Knoxville getting charged by a raging bull, knocking him to the ground rather hard on his head. The incident resulted in KNoxville getting brain damage, and the daredevil is lucky that things didn't turn out worse. In a recent interview with NME, Steve-o explains how this kind of thing is why it's a "bummer" watching Jackass Forever, as watching his friends getting harmed just isn't as funny as it...

‘Anselm’ Review: Wim Wenders Unveils a Magnificent 3D Portrait of German Artist Anselm Kiefer
Image
When audiences consider 3D as a medium, the abiding image seems to be of items popping out from the screen — a limb here in “Jaws 3D,” a dildo there in “Jackass 3D” — and perhaps that is indeed how most filmmakers have used the medium. Not enough directors have capitalized on the ability of 3D to convey a sense of physical depth; fewer still have seized on the possibility of adding philosophical depth. Thank goodness, then, for Wim Wenders. The first of two new films by the German veteran in this year’s Cannes official selection, “Anselm” is a tour-de-force 3D 6K portrait of the artist Anselm Kiefer, both rich in ideas and breathtaking in technical execution.

Though undoubtedly a powerful confrontation with some of the biggest themes art can tackle — mortality, permanence, being, nothingness, all the hits — “Anselm” remains an accessible experience, partly because of its manageable 93-minute runtime and...

Every Jackass Cast Member With A Side Hustle
Image
The stars of the Jackass franchise are known for their death-defying stunts and hilarious pranks, but two of the cast members also have side hustles that consist of selling tacos and hot sauce. Begun as a reality series on MTV in the early 2000s, Jackass has since spawned multiple feature films and branched out with a number of spinoffs starring members of its stunt-comedy troupe. Over the years, Jackass cast members have also acted in other movies, played sports professionally, performed stand-up comedy, and become investors in various commercial enterprises.

Considering the Jackass gig is not consistent — the latest of the theatrically released Jackass movies, Jackass Forever, arrived more than a decade after its predecessor — it makes sense that the cast members have other moneymaking ventures. Plus, through Jackass and their additional activities, the stars of the franchise have become rich and famous enough to lend their names and their...

Jackass Movies In Order (How to Watch the Film Series)
Image
The Jackass series debuted on MTV in 2000, quickly becoming one of the most popular television shows. It followed the antics of a group of friends as they engaged in outrageous stunts, pranks, and dangerous physical challenges. The show cast included Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Steve-o, Chris Pontius, Wee Man, Dave England, Preston Lacy, and Ryan Dunn.

Despite parental and political worries about the show’s potential impact on younger viewers, it quickly skyrocketed in popularity. After three seasons of wading through constant censorship notes from MTV, Knoxville and his pals decided to end their run; thus began, Jackass’ successful transition to the silver screen era.

The Jackass franchise spawned several movies that were released between 2002 and 2022, in the following order:

All the Jackass Movies in Order of Release Date Jackass The Movie (2002) Jackass Number Two (2006) Jackass 2.5 (2007) Jackass Presents Mat Hoffman’s Tribute to Evel Knievel (2008) Jackass 3D (2010) Jackass 3.5 (2011) Jackass Presents...

Showtime Pausing ‘The Chi’ & ‘City On A Hill’ For A Week To Air ‘Jackass Forever’
Image
This weekend’s scheduled episodes of two Showtime dramas have been jacked. The premium cabler said today that it will air the Paramount Pictures theatrical sequel Jackass Forever in the Sunday 8-10 p.m. slots usually occupied by The Chi and City on a Hill.

Both series will return on Sunday, August 28, Showtime said. The season finale of The Chi now will air on September 4.

Arriving more than a decade after Jackass 3D, the previous film in the self-flagellating-stunt franchise, Jackass Forever bowed in theaters in February, making off with 23.5 million domestic en route to a 57.7 million gross and 80.3 million worldwide.

Season 5 of Lena Waithe’s Chicago-set coming-of-age story The Chi delves deeply into the many joys and complications of Black love: relationships, children, career, community and self. New ‘Jackass’ Series Is Coming To Paramount+ Thanks To The Success Of ‘Jackass Forever’
Image
Given all the mortal wounds, broken bones, bruises, and old aging, there had been a twelve-year gap between “Jackass 3D” and the fourth “Jackass” film. However, the crew of stuntmen pranksters made their glorious return earlier this year alongside new additions to the roster for “Jackass Forever.” Many assumed the introduction of fresh-faced newbies was a sign that a series was eventually going to go forward and it looks like that is indeed the case.

The tagline for Jackass Forever reads, “Some people never learn.” Thank goodness for that, because if they did, we wouldn’t have had this fourth instalment in the series, twelve years after Jackass 3D. You might have thought that Johnny Knoxville and the rest of the Jackass crew were getting a bit too old to be performing painful, stupid and life-endangering stunts of this magnitude, but oh no – they’re back and they’re as willing to seriously injure themselves for our entertainment as they ever were.

You essentially already know if you’re going to like Jackass Forever, because it’s exactly the same as the previous Jackass movies, in a good way. Throughout the film, Knoxville and the gang – including Steve-o, Chris Pontius,...

If you felt yourself mourning the end of "Jackass" following the completion of "Jackass Forever," don't waste your tears because this ain't the end of the line for our favorite group of doofuses. Just as "Jackass 2" and "Jackass 3D" ended up with enough footage and ridiculous stunts to constitute another feature-length film each, there was plenty of goodness left out of "Jackass Forever" that Johnny Knoxville, Steve-o, Chris Pontius, Wee Man, Preston Lacy, Dave England, Danger Ehren, and the rest of the team couldn't in good faith leave on the cutting room floor. All hail co-creator and director Jeff Tremaine, because...

Fortunately for "Jackass Forever" fans, the wait to watch this movie at home will be far less excruciating than its initial delay in theatrical release. Finally bestowed upon audiences during the first wintry days of February, the latest of the Johnny Knoxville and gang-starring "Jackass" film series will now grace our own personal screens just in time for spring. Released over a decade after the last installment, 2010's "Jackass 3D," there was a palpable air of anticipation ahead of "Jackass Forever," which was originally set to be released March 5, 2021. Where to Stream All the ‘Jackass’ Movies
Johnny Knoxville in Jackass Forever (2022)
A staple of the comedy genre has forever been watching people get hurt, and nowhere is this more evident than in the continuing legacy of the “Jackass” franchise.

What started as a MTV reality series in which various jackasses performed increasingly stupid stunts for the benefit of the cameras before them eventually evolved into a four-film movie franchise spanning two entire decades.

“Jackass: The Movie” was released in theaters in 2002 and was intended to be the conclusion to “Jackass” – a feature film capper after a three-season run on TV. But after grossing nearly $80 million on a budget of just $5 million, “Jackass” the movie franchise was born.

Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Steve-o, Chris Pontius and many, many more continued to make fools of themselves for the camera in three additional feature films released across the next 20 years.

“Jackass: Number Two” arrived in 2006, while “Jackass: 3D” took advantage of Hollywood’s 3D...

Maybe Comedies Aren’t Dead? 5 Takeaways After ‘Jackass Forever’ Stunts on the Box Office
Image
When it comes to comedies, Hollywood has mostly written off the movie genre as fodder for streaming services. And, maybe it’s for good reason. Since big-screen funny films like “The Hangover” trilogy, “Step Brothers” and “Anchorman” hit their zenith in the 2000s, straight comedies have mostly fallen out of favor with ticket buyers.

But every so often, there’s a big, loud exception that bucks Hollywood’s conventional wisdom; in this instance, the idea that comedies should only be relegated to Netflix and its ilk. That was the case over the weekend as Paramount’s over-the-top slapstick jamboree “Jackass Forever,” the fourth film in the long-running franchise, debuted at the top of domestic box office charts with a better-than-expected $23.5 million. At the same time, director Roland Emmerich’s big-budget science-fiction spectacle “Moonfall” crash-landed with a disappointing $10 million.

Of course, a single film, especially one with a built-in fanbase that...

‘Jackass Forever’ Laughs Up a $23.5 Million Box Office Opening
Johnny Knoxville in Jackass Forever (2022)
Paramount’s “Jackass Forever” has taken over the top spot at the box office with a $23.5 million opening weekend from 3,604 locations, joining “Scream” as the second Paramount film to open to No. 1 in 2022.

The return of the irreverent MTV stunt series has opened well below the $50 million start earned by “Jackass 3D” in 2010, though that was to be expected given the ongoing impact of the pandemic on most box office receipts. As with pretty much every film that has found box office success this past year despite the adversity, “Jackass Forever” has relied on turnout from younger male audiences with theaters in Los Angeles accounting for 27 of the top 40 highest grossing locations.

“Jackass Forever” also has something that its predecessors did not: strong word of mouth. Along with a B+ on CinemaScore, it sports the highest Rotten Tomatoes critics score ever in the series with 87%. How much that can help this film is unclear,...

‘Jackass Forever’ Stunts Outrage PETA, Calls For Criminal Investigation Of Cruelty To Animals
Image
Paramount’s new Jackass Forever film has drawn condemnation from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, which called for a criminal investigation into the production.

The film was released this week and so far has grossed an estimated $20 million. The sequel to 2010’s Jackass 3D, it is the fourth main installment and the fifth overall installment in the Jackass film series.

PETA claimed a stunt in which Johnny Knoxville and Steve-o provoke honeybees into stinging Steve-o’s penis (killing many of them), and another in which a scorpion is put in someone’s mouth and hit repeatedly until the animal stings are particularly worrisome.

The organization has sent letters to Los Angeles city and San Luis Obispo County prosecutors about the matter. PETA points out that the Paramount Pictures movie—which appears to have been filmed at least partially in Los Angeles and San Luis Obispo County—likely broke state animal protection laws.

The tag-line for Jackass Forever reads, “Some people never learn.” Thank goodness for that, because if they did, we wouldn’t have had this fourth instalment in the series, twelve years after Jackass 3D.

UK-Ireland box office preview: can ‘Jackass Forever’ end the franchise on a high note?
Image
‘Moonfall’, ‘The Souvenir Part II’, ‘Belle’ among busy weekend.

Paramount Picitures’ non-fiction comedy Jackass Forever heads the new openers at the UK-Ireland box office this weekend, on a busy weekend that also features sci-fi Moonfall, festival favourite The Souvenir Part II and anime Belle.

The fifth theatrically-released film in the Jackass franchise, Jackass Forever reunites Johnny Knoxville, Steve-o, Chris Pontius and the gang of miscreants for what they claim is their final outing under the Jackass name; although this was previously asserted after the 2002 first film, Jackass: The Movie.

Forever opens in 537 locations – a significant increase on the previous films...

‘Jackass Forever’ Review: Still Crazy After All These Years
Image
It’s no longer a shock, or even much of a surprise, to see full-frontal male nudity in a reckless youth comedy. But in “Jackass Forever,” it’s not just that there’s a whole lotta full frontal; by the end of the film, the nutsacks of half the cast members have begun to feel like family. The movie opens with a “Godzilla” parody, in which the residents of New York run screaming from the sight of a hulking dino reptile. Except that the shots of the giant beast were created on a miniature mock-up of Manhattan, and the green lizard king — as we’re shown in a setup shot — is actually the penis and scrotum of Chris Pontius, bedecked with a fake head and platelets. When people talk about the glory of experiencing movies on the big screen, I’m not sure if having this thing in your face...

Johnny Knoxville in Jackass Forever (2022)
Jackass Forever review – unstoppable comedy stunt show still has a sting in its tail
Johnny Knoxville in Jackass Forever (2022)
The gang are back with more fantastically pointless and bad-taste feats involving bears, bulls, scorpions and spiders

Twenty years on, after innumerable TV series and spin-offs, lawsuits and movie franchise iterations the Jackass crew is back with yet another festival of fantastically pointless and immature bad taste, including a new younger generation of Jackass stuntsters who tell the camera they can’t believe they’re on the show they grew up with. The last film was Jackass 3D in 2010, part of the 3D craze in cinema which has now been quietly abandoned without anyone noticing or caring. But Jackass marches on.

As ever, the guys are taking turns doing stupid and dangerous things, while the rest of the gang scream with supportive, incredulous laughter and the participants scream with laughter right back at them once the stunt is over. In fact, the real Jackass gonzo discipline would seem to be...

‘Jackass Forever’ Film Review: The Johnny Knoxville Harm Offensive Is Back, Irresistibly So
Johnny Knoxville at an event for Les Enfants de l'Exil (2006)
Down with the patriarchy! Unless, of course, they themselves are down with torturing each other for our amusement, in which case, welcome back, Johnny Knoxville and Friends!

A dignity massacre just in time for St. Valentine’s Day, the sociological documentary “Jackass Forever” is an all-new collection of raucously perilous prankery from its modern masters, twelve years after the last one (“Jackass 3D”).

One can only assume the long pause was to give the gang a chance to get their nerve back up, while roping in diverse new comrades to the comedic possibilities of extreme, how-is-this-insurable slapstick.

To put it bluntly: If this is for you, it’s hilarious; if it’s not for you, it’s still hilarious. Just stay away. It’s been a hard couple of years dealing with an unseen menace, so there should be no shame in the cathartic laughter to be found in a...

‘Jackass Forever,’ ‘Moonfall’ Aim to Take Down ‘Spider-Man’ at the Box Office
Image
Will this be the weekend that “Spider-Man: No Way Home” is dethroned at the box office once and for all?

Paramount’s go-for-broke action comedy “Jackass Forever” and director Roland Emmerich’s disaster epic “Moonfall” certainly hope that’s the case. After an excruciatingly slow January at the movies, one that let “Spider-Man” tower over the competition for weeks, the two nationwide releases will try their hand at getting audiences to multiplexes.

“Jackass Forever,” the fourth installment in the ongoing saga of projectiles to the groin, appears to have the best shot at taking down “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which has spent six of the last seven weeks at No. 1. The latest “Jackass” adventure is expected to bring in $15 million to $20 million from 3,590 North American theaters in its debut. “Moonfall” is targeting a start that’s closer to $10 million or $12 million from 3,400 venues.

“Jackass Forever” cost a mere $10 million to produce,...

‘Jackass Forever’ To Punk Disaster Pic ‘Moonfall’ As Winter Box Office Tries To Thaw Out – Weekend Preview
Image
After two weekends without any major-studio wide releases amid Omicron fears, Paramount and Lionsgate will try to lure moviegoers back with Jackass Forever and Centropolis Entertainment’s Moonfall, respectively

Exhibition hopefully will see more traffic after the Northeast experienced cabin fever from winter storm Kenan last weekend. Rolling winter-into-spring breaks don’t go into effect until February 18, per Comscore’s school calendar; that’s when 22% of K-12 schools are off and 8% of colleges. This Friday, it’s just 1% K-12 off and 2% colleges. Having Ontario movie theaters in Canada reopened with concessions doesn’t hurt.

Right now it’s looking like mid-teen millions for the Jeff Tremaine-directed Jackass Forever at No. 1 in 3,590 theaters. The movie is tracking with males under 25, but younger females are showing some decent interest as well.

The reality-stunt franchise, first born on MTV nearly 22 years ago, has spawned three movies and a “Presents” comedy production, Bad Grandpa.

February is the shortest month of the year but that doesn’t mean it has to be any less filled with enticing film and TV options than any other month. That’s certainly true of this February, which begins and ends with a pair of ripped-from-the-headlines miniseries, beginning with the inside story of an infamous sex tape and ending with a boardroom drama from the ride share world.

This Fishy ‘Jackass’ Stunt Cemented Steve-o’s Fame: ‘It Came Out Swimming’
Image
Steve-o is finally detailing how his famous fishy stunt came to be, ahead of “Jackass Forever” hitting theaters February 4. Thanks to four new episodes of MTV’s “Ridiculousness,” featuring the original Jackass team, fans are learning the truth about their favorite pranks.

Steve-o shot to fame with his “The Goldfish” talent, showcasing a puke-tastic party trick in “Jackass the Series.” “This was an idea that I saved for a special occasion,” Steve-o said in an exclusive sneak peek. “I thought it was going to be a real banger.”

The goldfish survived Steve-o swallowing it and then throwing it back up again. Some could even say the goldfish thrived: “It came out swimming,” Steve-o remembers with a laugh.

He adds, “I’ll never forget after this, [creator Johnny] Knoxville said, ‘Well Steve-o, if you’re not already famous, you’re gonna be now.'”

Plus, as Knoxville previously pointed out in a May 2021 interview with GQ,...

Johnny Knoxville’s ‘Jackass’ Growing Pains: How a Violent Bull Stunt Made Him Stop Living Dangerously
Image
As the star of “Jackass,” the MTV series born in 2000 that turned into a blockbuster movie franchise, Johnny Knoxville has badly injured every part of his body, from his head to his limbs to his — uh, groin area. But while making “Jackass Forever,” the fourth Paramount film that follows a beloved ensemble of dudes (and one woman) who attempt painful stunts involving blunt objects and dangerous animals, Knoxville finally hit a wall. Or rather, a bull — it ran him over.

Knoxville had been building toward the no-holds-barred stunt for weeks while shooting the movie, which opens in theaters on Feb. 4. “I was trying to do a magic trick in a bull ring,” Knoxville explains over a breakfast in West Hollywood in December, days before omicron made people go into hiding again. “I wanted to prank an animal, and that’s what we came up with.” But the bull didn’t find the joke funny,...

‘Jackass Forever’ New Trailer: Johnny Knoxville Delivers ‘the Gnarliest Sh*t Ever’
Image
Like it or not, “Jackass” is back. The long-awaited fourth installment of the bone-crunching stunt movie series, “Jackass Forever” reunites Johnny Knoxville, Steve-o, Chris Pontius, Danger Ehren, Preston Lacy, and Wee Man for another go-round of mayhem and hijinks. The movie, directed by Jeff Tremaine, is set to hit theaters from Paramount Pictures February 4. Watch the latest and final trailer below.

Here’s the official synopsis, as if any “Jackass” fan really needed it: “Celebrating the joy of being back together with your best friends and a perfectly executed shot to the dingdong, the original jackass crew return for another round of hilarious, wildly absurd, and often dangerous displays of comedy with a little help from some exciting new cast. Johnny and the team push the envelope even further in ‘Jackass Forever.'”

“Jackass Forever” marks the first entry in the MTV-launched franchise in over a decade, since 2010’s “Jackass 3D.

State of the Festival: Back to Basics at Doclisboa
Image
A Kid's FlickIn October 2020, Doclisboa International Film Festival was upended by a rapidly rising tide of Covid-19 infections. Like other international festivals of that unfortunate period, its fundamental identity as a fixed event—let alone one with international guests—was washed away by a devastating new wave of disease and destruction. In response, the festival fanned out across the next six months, becoming a kind of Doclisboa-on-tour whenever the epidemiological situation granted an opening for it to appear. Portugal was battered by the virus in the early months of 2021, but something of Doclisboa managed to survive intact, even if only as glowing embers nestled in a dampened fire pit. In these months, it stayed in the world in bits and pieces, online or in scattered screenings across the city, even as audiences sheltered from the devastation and had little time for movies. Fortunately, we were luckier this edition. In the meantime,...

‘Halloween Kills’ Grabs Best Horror & R-Rated Opening Records During Pandemic With $50.4M, Even With Peacock Day & Date
Image
Sunday Am Update: Typically, horror movies fall apart on a Saturday night, especially ones with bad reviews and lackluster audience exits. But Universal/Blumhouse/Miramax’s Halloween Kills kept it together, even with a day-and-date Peacock component.

The David Gordon Green-directed sequel, the 12th in the franchise, kept on course for a $50.35M 3-day, slightly higher than what we saw yesterday morning off a $17.2M Saturday, -25% from Friday. That’s a better Friday-to-Saturday hold, percent-wise, than previous Blumhouse October horror pics Paranormal Activity 3 and Paranormal Activity 2, both -35%. Also, Halloween Kills’ Saturday beats Paranormal Activity 2’s Saturday of $13M.

Overall, Halloween Kills is the best 3-day US/Canada opening we’ve seen for a horror movie during the pandemic, beating Paramount’s A Quiet Place Part II ($47.5M), and it’s the best opening for an R-rated movie during the pandemic, blowing away Warner Bros...

Paramount Bashes Bam Margera’s “Baseless” Move To Stop ‘Jackass Forever’ From Coming Out
Image
The much-delayed latest flick in the Jackass franchise is finally set to come out in early 2022, a date Paramount Pictures wants to stick to — despite the best legal efforts of Bam Margera.

“Margera’s lawsuit is baseless,” said attorneys for the ViacomCBS-owned studio, MTV, fellow Jackasser Johnny Knoxville, director Jeff Tremaine, EP Spike Jonze and others against the wide ranging legal action ex-skateboard thrillseeker Margera filed back in August after being pink slipped from Jackass Forever.

“His claims seeking to enjoin Jackass Forever improperly targetDefendants’ protected speech and are precluded as a matter of law,” a memorandum accompanying the Jenner & Block Llp penned special motion adds. “This Court should strike them.”

“Separate and apart from its legal insufficiency, Margera’s complaint is riddled with outright lies: Margera alleges that Knoxville, Tremaine, and Jonze accosted him in a rehab facility and browbeat him into signing a draconian sobriety contract; that he was fraudulently induced and coerced into signing his talent agreement with Paramount; that Paramount hired a doctor who forced him to take a “cocktail of pills” that Paramount supposedly prescribed for him against his will; that he complied with the Wellness Program; and that he was terminated for taking Adderall, which he claims was prescribed

for him (it was not—he admitted that he bought it off the street—infra at II.D),” the paperwork filed on October 4 in Los Angeles Superior Court declares in some detail (read it here).

The Paramount and Jackass parties want a hearing in front on Judge Robert Draper the day after Halloween to argue their case in person and kick a portion of the Browne George Ross O’Brien Annaguey & Ellis represented ex-franchise star Bam’s claims to the curb.

Fired from Jackass Forever in August 2020 because of a violation of the self-described Wellness Agreement that was mutually agreed upon to keep Margera on the straight and narrow, the Jackass Og hit back with a multi-million dollar and movie shuttering 14-claim complaint a couple of months ago.

If it wasn’t such a potential big money loss kick in the gut to Paramount, Margera’s efforts to stop the movie coming out would be almost laughable, all things considered.

Based off the cringe inducing and sometimes gut churning TV series that debuted in 2000, the MTV Entertainment Studios and Dickhouse Productions’ Jackass Forever was originally supposed to come out on March 5, 2021. The pic is the fourth full-length Jackass movie and the first one since 2010’s Jackass 3D. With the Covid-19 pandemic shutting down productions and cinemas, Paramount said in April 2020 that the picture would come out on July 2, 2021. A date that was pushed to September 3, 2021 in July 2020, and then to October 22, 2021 in the spring of this year.

Last month, with Margera’s lawsuit clearly in mind as well as the Delta variant, Paramount pushed again to early next year … a date that they obviously hope is clear of both Margera’s legal moves and personal crisises.

Keegan-Michael Key & Johnny Knoxville To Star In Steve Levitan Comedy Pilot ‘Reboot’ At Hulu
Image
Steve Levitan is headed to streaming. In the first non-network green light for the Emmy-winning Modern Family co-creator, Hulu has formally picked up comedy pilot Reboot, with Keegan-Michael Key and Johnny Knoxville tapped to star.

In Reboot, created by Levitan and clearly inspired by the recent wave of comedy revivals, when Hulu reboots an early 2000s family sitcom, its dysfunctional cast is forced back together and now must deal with their unresolved issues in today’s fast-changing world.

Levitan co-wrote the pilot script with John Enbom (iZombie). It was based on a story by Levitan. He and Enbom executive produce with Enbom frequent collaborator Danielle Stokdyk. 20th Television, where Levitan is under an overall deal, is the studio.

Levitan is the latest powerhouse broadcast showrunner to branch out into streaming. Sitcom king Chuck Lorre has done it with Disjointed and The Kominsky Method at Netflix; Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman did...

‘Jackass Forever’ Trailer Brings Same Johnny Knoxville Chaos, Just Older (Video)
Johnny Knoxville in Jackass Forever (2022)
The “Jackass Forever” trailer dropped Tuesday and the stunts — which include 49-year-old Johnny Knoxville getting shot out of a giant canon — have made us nostalgic for the good ol’ days.

“When is the last time you got together with old friends to laugh your asses off?” the trailer teases, while promising the same “Jackass” mayhem, just with a silver-haired Knoxville this time. Bullfights, attacking snakes, exploding furniture and tongue electrocution are just a few of the stunts that the “Jackass” crew has up their sleeve, not to mention Machine Gun Kelly getting booted into a pool after in a bicycle slap stunt.

While the “Jackass” pranksters have been ever present in the public eye — even pulling off their own stunts during this year’s Shark Week — “Jackass Forever” marks the franchise’s first film in over 10 years, following “Jackass 3D” in 2010. Knoxville appeared in a 2013 spinoff film titled “Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa,...

‘Jackass Forever’ Trailer: Johnny Knoxville, Steve-o & The Gang Reunite On October 22
Image
Johnny Knoxville and the “Jackass” guys had their prime moment of cultural relevancy about twenty years ago after the TV show first premiered on MTV. Since then, there have been three feature films, each one more commercially successful than the last. Now, for the first time since 2010’s “Jackass 3D,” the boys (now middle-aged men) are back again with “Jackass Forever.”

Anyone who has seen the TV show or previous films knows the drill at this point: Knoxville, Steve-o, and the rest of the crew put themselves and each other at risk in what’s best termed violent slapstick. Jason “Wee Man” Acuña, Preston Lacy, Chris Pontius, Ehren McGhehey, and Dave England also return to get in on the action. Of course, there will be several celebrity cameos, too.

Steve-o Teases Crazy Jackass 4 Stunts, Which Include Paralyzing Himself from the Waist Down
Image
With Paramount gearing up to release Jackass 4 in theaters this fall, people may have had a few concerns that the members of the notorious Jackass crew may have lost their edge with age. It seems though that these fears can be put firmly to bed if certain revelations made in a video of veteran Jackass cast member Steve-o are anything to go by. During the video Steve-o states the following.

"I might have actually talked a doctor into dressing up as a clown so that he could put a four inch needle into my spine and inject me with a drug that would paralyze me from the waist down while I was sprinting and before all kinds of terrible shit happened to me."

While this sounds absolutely horrific, it's also nice to hear that the upcoming movie, which is the first one since 2010's box office smash Jackass 3,...

Johnny Knoxville’s List of ‘Jackass 4’ Stunt Ideas Runs 50 Pages Long and Spans 10 Years
Image
When Johnny Knoxville and his “Jackass” gang return to the big screen this fall in “Jackass 4,” it will mark over a decade since the release of the group’s latest film outing. That would be “Jackass 3D,” which opened in October 2010 and became a comedy blockbuster with $171 million at the worldwide box office. Knoxville spent the 10 years in between installments resistant to making a fourth “Jackass” movie but coming up with stunt ideas for another sequel anyway.

As reported in a new GQ cover story on Knoxville: “Ever since 2010’s ‘Jackass 3D’ wrapped, Knoxville had been quietly turning ideas over in his head, jotting down brief descriptions of stunt concepts and emailing himself the notes with ‘Jackass 4 idea’ in the subject line. Finally he felt himself getting the itch and asked his assistant to compile those ideas into a document.”

“It was thick,” Knoxville told GQ about the “Jackass 4” stunt ideas book.

Johnny Knoxville Confirms Jackass 4 Is His Final Jackass Movie
Image
Johnny Knoxville is done with Jackass after Jackass 4. This fall, Knoxville and many other members of the original gang of daredevils get together once again for a new array of highly physical stunts and gags. It will be the first Jackass movie in more than a decade, but it will also be the final installment of the series - at least with Knoxville's body on the line.

"You can only take so many chances before something irreversible happens," Johnny Knoxville, now 50 years old, told GQ in a new interview. "I feel like I've been extremely lucky to take the chances I've taken and still be walking around."

Knoxville's more adamant about calling it quits this time around than he was after Jackass 3 was released in 2010. In the years since, he had consistently mulled over different ideas for a sequel, often emailing himself notes with "Jackass 4 idea" in the subject line.

Steve-o Preps for ‘Jackass 4’ by Getting Paralyzed from the Waist Down, Diving into Pee, and More
Image
Paramount is set to release “Jackass 4” in theaters this fall, and it’s going to be batshit crazy if a new video (via Uproxx) from cast member Steve-o is any indication of what’s to come. The “Jackass” veteran revealed: “I might have actually talked a doctor into dressing up as a clown so that he could put a four inch needle into my spine and inject me with a drug that would paralyze me from the waist down while I was sprinting and before all kinds of terrible shit happened to me.” Footage of the injection is shown in the video.

Whether or not Steve-o getting paralyzed makes it into the actual theatrical cut of “Jackass 4” remains to be seen, but it’s clearly one of the wildest decisions the stunt comedian has ever made. Steve-o also informed fans that he was in the early stages of...
