Titane, Julia Ducournau's bizarre "vehicle horror" film from 2021, is coming to free streaming soon. Starting February 16, fans of the weird will be able to stream Titane on Tubi. They will only have to endure the occasional interruption of ads, although, with Titane, it's safe to say that you will probably need to take a break. Yes, it is that shocking.

Kevin & Matthew McManus, the brothers behind The Block Island Sound, have wrapped production on a new horror movie titled Redux Redux, Variety reports this afternoon.

In the upcoming Redux Redux, “Irene Kelly (Michaela McManus) travels through the multiverse, killing her daughter’s murderer over and over again.

“She grows addicted to the revenge streak, putting her own humanity in jeopardy.”

Michaela McManus stars alongside Jim Cummings, Jeremy Holm, Taylor Misiak (“Dave”), Grace Van Dien (“Stranger Things”) and Stella Marcus.

Redux Redux is the first movie from the McManus brothers’ Mothership Motion Pictures.

“We couldn’t be more excited to be working with the entire Mothership team to bring Redux Redux to the big screen,” said the McManus brothers. “We’re thrilled to follow up The Block Island Sound with another genre bender starring our sister in her most violent role yet. We can’t wait to share it with audiences next year.

While Joel and Ethan Coen have never made a horror movie, their films tend to have moments of abrupt and brutal violence. Sometimes these scenes are played straight, like in No Country for Old Men, but a lot of them are played for pitch-black humor. If they were to ever dip their toes into the horror genre, it would certainly lean towards horror-comedy, and its not hard to imagine it looking something like 2020's The Wolf of Snow Hollow.

Jim Cummings is tired of the bullshit. Perhaps he has been his entire career. He’s been writing and directing short films since 2009, but it was his 2016 “Thunder Road,” that brought him wide attention and acclaim.

Starring himself as a police officer eulogizing his mother, then singing and dancing to the Bruce Springsteen track at her funeral, the short is centered on Cummings’ raw, tragic yet hilarious performance, all captured in one take. He would eventually go on to write and direct a feature version in 2018 that fleshed out the character and allowed Cummings to further showcase his twisted sense of humor and pathos. After following this up with “The Wolf of Snow Hollow” and “The Beta Test,” Cummings and producers Thomas Cross and Dustin Hahn return to short form with this year’s “The Last Brunch” and most recently, “Is Now a Good Time?”

Filmmakers Jim Cummings, Pj McCabe and Thomas Cross have teamed up to launch a new independent production studio, Cool & Happy Limited. Cummings and McCabe will serve as the studio’s chief creatives, while Cross will head up production.

“The same team has been making stuff for eight years. We started in shorts and then made three features: ‘Thunder Road’ ‘The Wolf of Snow Hollow’ and ‘The Beta Test,’ most recently,” Cummings says. International and indie film distributor Well Go USA Entertainment has acquired North American rights to western heist film “The Last Stop in Yuma County.”

The debut feature from writer-director Francis Galluppi bowed at Austin’s Fantastic Fest before heading to Sitges. XYZ Films and UTA are co-representing North American sales. The acquisition was negotiated by Brennan Lane on behalf of Well Go USA and by John McGrath (UTA) and Pip Ngo (XYZ) on behalf of the filmmakers.

The film follows a traveling knife salesman in 1980s Arizona. Stranded and forced to wait at a rural rest stop, he suddenly finds himself in the middle of a violent hostage situation upon the arrival of two bank robbers who are on the run after a recent heist.

Completely off trade news radar, we learned that Turkish filmmaker Tolga Karaçelik moved into production on his English-language debut this past June with none-other than Steve Buscemi in the driver’s seat. Karaçelik has been to Park City on two previous trips bringing Ivy (2015) and 2018’s Butterflies (which was the Grand Jury Prize Award winner). Shot in New York City, this fourth feature film goes by the title of The Shallow Tale of a Writer Who Decided to Write about a Serial Killer and saw The Wolf of Snow Hollow cinematographer Natalie Kingston on the project. Riki Lindhome, who was recently seen playing Dr. Valerie Kinbott in the Addams Family series Wednesday on the Netflix streaming service, has signed on to join Katherine Waterston (Alien: Covenant), John Cho (Searching), and Lukita Maxwell (Shrinking) in director Chris Weitz’s horror film They Listen. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news, but wasn’t able to dig up any information on the character Lindhome will be playing… which is to be expected, because all They Listen plot and character details are being kept entirely under wraps.

They Listen is coming to us from Sony, Blumhouse, and Depth of Field. Weitz is producing the film with Jason Blum and Andrew Miano. Bea Sequeira, Dan Balgoyen, Britta Rowings, and Paul Davis serve as executive producers. Filming was already underway in Los Angeles back in December.

Casting continues for They Listen, an upcoming horror moving from Sony, Blumhouse and Depth of Field. THR reports today that actress Riki Lindhome has joined the cast.

Lindhome joins previously announced stars John Cho (Searching) and Katherine Waterston (Alien: Covenant), as well as Lukita Maxwell (“Shrinking”), announced yesterday in a “top-billed role.”

Chris Weitz (American Pie) directs the film, set for theatrical release on August 25, 2023.

REinvent International sales has closed deals on genre titles from its Chills label, including “Dark Windows,” “Leave” and “Shadow Island,” ahead of the EFM.

“Dark Windows,” Alex Herron’s English-language horror thriller, has been sold to the Mena region (Enl / Empire Network Ltd) and Latin America (Gussi). The movie tells the story of teenagers involved in a car crash who decide to stay at a summerhouse in the U.S. countryside to work through their grief and start being stalked by a masked man. “Dark Windows” stars Annie Hamilton, Anna Bullard, Rory Alexander, Joel Saemundsson and Morten Holst.

The company has also closed key sales on “Leave,” Herron’s debut film. The horror thriller sold to Italy (Plaion), Germany (Splendid) and Latin America (Gussi). It will then premiere on Cinedigm’s indie discovery platform Fandor on Tuesday, February 14, followed by an exclusive window on Cinedigm’s horror streaming service Screambox.

In this future cult classic, Jessica lives in fear of a man named Kevin who follows her everywhere she goes. When Kevin mysteriously appears again, Jessica and Elena seek help from beyond the grave to get rid of him for good… but Kevin is different from other stalkers and won’t move on so easily.

Cinedigm has acquired SXSW genre bender “Jethica” from New York’s Visit Films for U.S. release, Variety can reveal.

Pete Ohs’ offbeat movie — which premiered in Austin, Texas, earlier this year — follows Jessica, who lives in fear of a man named Kevin that follows her everywhere she goes. While on a road trip in New Mexico, she reconnects with old high school friend Elena who has been hiding out at her deceased grandmother’s ranch.

When Kevin mysteriously appears again, Jessica and Elena seek help from beyond the grave to get rid of him for good — but Kevin is different from other stalkers and won’t move on so easily.

“Jethica” has screened at festivals around the world including Busan, Overlook, Maryland, Filmfort, Germany’s B3 Biennial, and the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, where it received a Special Jury Award.

The movie will hit select cinemas on Jan. 13, starting with a run in L.

Exclusive: Writer, director, producer, and actor Jim Cummings (The Beta Test) has signed with Anonymous Content for management.

Cummings is an acclaimed indie filmmaker who most recently teamed with Pj McCabe to co-write and direct The Beta Test — a genre-bending feature, which world premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival. He also produced and starred in that title alongside Virginia Newcomb and McCabe. The film about a Hollywood agent who gets caught up in a sinister world of lying, infidelity, and digital data screened later played as an official selection of the Berlin Film Festival, where Cummings and McCabe were nominated for the Encounters Award. It was released by IFC in November of 2021.

Exclusive: WME has signed The Fabelmans breakout Chloe East, in a competitive situation.

Loosely inspired by the childhood and teenage years of its director Steven Spielberg, The Fabelmans has East sharing the screen with fellow up-and-comer Gabriel Labelle. The actress portrays Monica Sherwood — the devoutly religious classmate and love interest of Labelle’s Sammy Fabelman, who stands in for Spielberg himself.

Written by Spielberg and Tony Kushner, The Fabelmans made its world premiere at the 2022 Toronto Film Festival, where it won the coveted People’s Choice Award. The film — also starring Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Seth Rogen and more — opened in limited release in the U.S. on November 11th before expanding worldwide on the 23rd.

Horror movies about food disorders are few and far between, or at least I haven’t seen many at all. But that is the subject that Shapeless tackles and it goes to some extreme places with it.

The film follows Ivy, a jazz singer who isn’t quite struggling but dreams of something bigger and better, while also suffering from an eating disorder that risks ruining not only her career but her whole life.
