The series stars Sam Witwer ("Smallville", "Battlestar Galactica") as vampire Aidan, Meaghan Rath ("The Assistants") as ghost Sally, and Sam Huntington ("Cavemen", Superman Returns) as the werewolf Josh.

I have to admit I'm really enjoying the Us version of "Being Human". Yeah, Josh is totally annoying, and Sally is nowhere near as endearing as Annie, her British counterpart. But both Aidan and Bishop kick all kinds of ass. Apparently Syfy agrees as they've just renewed the show for another year.

Though we're still not entirely sure why they just couldn't start running the original hit British TV series "Being Human", it seems that the folks over at Syfy are obviously on the right track with their remake.
According to The Hollywood Reporter the premiere episode of the U.S. redo of the British supernatural drama "Being Human" drew two million total viewers at 9:00 Pm, setting a network record as the most-watched winter launch since 2005. It drew one million viewers in the adults 18-49 demo, and 58% of that were women (582,000), a record for Syfy for an original series. Including repeats at 10:02 and 11:02 p.m., "Being Human" drew a total of 3.8 million viewers for the night.

With the January 17, 2011, premiere date for Syfy's "Being Human" redux just a few weeks away, the network's promotions department has started sending out press kits for the show, and we've got a sneak peek at what they contain.
Blastr put together the following "unboxing" video of the package, and below that you'll find about half of the images they posted as well. Be sure to hit up their site for the rest.
We're kind of digging the "True Blood" vibe we got from the campaign, and combining that with the fact that the great Mark Pellegrino plays a major role in the events that will be taking place, we say January 17th can't get here soon enough! And if we're let down, well then, we only have to wait until spring, 2011, for BBC America to start airing Season Three of the British version.

Aidan: The Vampire (Sam Witwer) – Aidan has worked as a nurse in a hospital in Boston for the past several years. He likes working in a job where he can hopefully do some good and help people. He also finds comfort in laying people to rest, in helping them find the peace in death that he will never know.
Sally: The Ghost (Meaghan Rath) – Growing up, Sally was often forced to be tough, and as a result, she was a young woman who didn’t take a lot of flack.

After months of speculation Syfy has finally unveiled cast photos, character descriptions, a full synopsis, and even a promo video for its redux of the British TV series "Being Human", and we have to say it's looking a lot more promising than we first thought ... mostly due to two little words: Mark Pellegrino, who plays the charismatic but menacing Bishop.
The series premiere will be Monday, January 17, 2011, at 9/8c. Read on for all the details.

SyFy is ready to tout their original programming for the New Year as 2010 comes to an end, but a remake of a British series doesn’t exactly scream “original” to me. That being said, the network has announced the premiere of the Us version of the original BBC series Being Human on Monday, January 17th at 9/8c. The supernatural series follows the dynamic lives of three paranormal roommates: a ghost, a vampire and a werewolf and their difficulties with living double lives. Stepping into these new personalities won’t be easy, but they’re certainly up for the task and journey that lies ahead. Sam Witwer (Smallville), Meaghan Rath (The Assistants), Sam Huntington (Superman Returns) star in the series, and you can see them in a short trailer for the new series below.

The Canadian remake of the British TV series Being Human will premiere on Space, a sci-fi oriented Canadian cable network, on January 17 at 10 Pm.
While the show was shot in Montreal, the story will take place... in Boston. Wow, at least Space is very upfront about it unlike Global, the TV network that broadcast the Canadian TV series Rookie Blue, which epically fails to pass off as an American city.
So, like I said, the show follows three roommates with paranormal powers: Vampire Aidan, played by Sam Witwer (Smallville, Battlestar Galactica); ghost Sally played by Meaghan Rath(I Me Wed, The Assistants); and werewolf Josh played by Sam Huntington (Detroit Rock City, Superman Returns); and Mark Pellegrino (Lost, Dexter) stars as Aidan’s charismatic but menacing vampire mentor, Bishop.

Take a look at SyFy’s American version of the BBC’s acclaimed series Being Human! From the looks of this promo, the American version maintains the mix of comedy and drama that gave the original series the remarkable depth to explore each character in a multitude of dimensions. If this version can carry it off in the same way that the British version did, this version just might capture a whole new audience for both shows.
Set in Boston, Sam Witwer (Smallville, BSG) plays Aidan, the vampire, Meaghan Rath (TeenNick’s The Assistants) is Molly, the ghost, and Sam Huntington (Superman Returns) takes on the role of Josh, the werewolf.

This January, SyFy will be premiering their re-imagining of Toby Whithouse’s popular BBC series Being Human. In it, Sam Witwer (Smallville, Battlestar Galactica), Meaghan Rath (The Assistants) and Sam Huntington (Cavemen, Superman Returns) star as the loveable, but supernaturally unenthusiastic characters Aidan (vampire), Josh (werewolf) and Sally (ghost) with Mark Pellegrino (Lost, Supernatural) rounding out the cast as Aidan’s minacious mentor Bishop.

Whilst we’re still waiting to hear whether Sam Huntington has joined the cast of Syfy’s Us version of Being Human as werewolf Josh, there has been another casting announcement.
Joining Sam Witwer (Smallville) as vampire Aidan and Meaghan Rath (The Assistants) as Molly the ghost, will be Mark Pellegrino (Lost, Supernatural). According to Deadline, Pellegrino has been cast as Aidan’s charismatic but menacing mentor Bishop.
The Us version of BBC Three’s Being Human is being scripted by Jeremy Carver and Anna Fricke, whose previous worked on Supernatural and Everwood – a combination I can see working for this Us iteration.

Even though there is absolutely nothing wrong with the original BBC show, the powers-that-be have surmised that we need our own Americanized version of the incredible little show "Being Human", which focuses on a ghost, vampire, and werewolf living together.
It was announced earlier that Sam Witwer ("Smallville") will be portraying vampire Aidan while Meaghan Rath ("The Assistants") has signed on to play ghost Sally, and now Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Mark Pellegrino ("Lost", "Supernatural") will play Aidan’s charismatic but menacing mentor Bishop.
Now all we need is a nasty, yet nerdy in his human form werewolf, and we're all set. Look for more from SyFy's "Being Human" as it comes!

According to EW’s Ausiello Files, Syfy’s Us version of BBC Three’s Being Human has locked down two cast members. Reportedly Sam Witwer (Smallville) will be portraying vampire Aidan, while Meaghan Rath (The Assistants) will play ghost Molly.

The Us version of Being Human is being scripted by Jeremy Carver and Anna Fricke, whose previous worked on Supernatural and Everwood – a combination I can see working for this Us iteration.

According to multiple sources, “Smallville” baddie Sam Witwer aka Doomsday has been cast in SyFy’s upcoming American version of the BBC’s “Being Human”. Witwer will play the role of the vampire, Aidan, of the archetypal three supernaturals that room together in the show. Witwer not only has comic book cred with the “Smallville” role, but also has sci-fi stripes as Crashdown in Ron Moore’s “Battlestar Galactica”.

The SyFy show has also cast Canadian actress Meaghan Rath (TeenNick’s “The Assistants”) as ghost, Molly. Sam Huntington (“Superman Returns”) is in the running to play the werewolf, Josh.

It's been a while since we've heard anything about Syfy's upcoming "Being Human" re-imagining (or whatever they're calling it these days), but it looks like we know who'll be playing two thirds of the threesome made up of a ghost, vampire, and werewolf. Read on for the details.
According to The Ausiello Files on EW.com, multiple sources are confirming that Sam Witwer ("Smallville") will be portraying vampire Aidan while Meaghan Rath ("The Assistants") has signed on to play ghost Molly. Check out their photos below, and let us know what you think about them playing these characters.
That just leaves werewolf Josh, and according to Ausiello Sam Huntington (Dylan Dog: Dead of Night) is currently in talks for the role, for which Ricky Mabe and Aaron Ashmore both previously tested.
No other details yet on the Stateside version of "Being Human", which is being scripted by Jeremy Carver and...

Plus Buffy's Nicholas Brendan's new gig, marriage equality in Iceland, and McDonalds goes gay again?
A moment to mention Senator Robert C. Byrd, who passed away last night. Senator Byrd was the longest serving member of Congress in history. He grew up about three miles from where I’m typing this. He was a product of his era, but wasn’t afraid to change his mind, slowly, first on race, and he was even now evolving on gay issues, despite his past history. I’ve met him many times, and he was a kind and decent man.
Michael Fassbender is going to star in X-Men: First Class as a young Magneto opposite James McAvoy as Professor X. His hairline already matches Sir Ian’s.
Robin Williams wants to play The Riddler in Christopher Nolan’s next Dark Knight movie. Granted, no one has asked him, Nolan hasn’t named the villain for the movie,...

Updated: Multiple sources confirm to me exclusively that ex-Smallville’s evildoer Sam Witwer (a.k.a. Doomsday) is the odds-on favorite has officially signed on to play vampire Aidan in Syfy’s in-the-works U.S. remake of the U.K. supernatural dramedy Being Human.
Additionally, Meaghan Rath (The Assistants) has inked a deal to play ghost Molly, and Sam Huntington (Cavemen) is up for the role of werewolf Josh. Beautiful People’s Ricky Mabe and Smallville’s Aaron Ashmore had also tested for the werewolf part, but I’m told they’re no longer in the running.

Come on, who doesn’t love a man who plays a football player on a hit TV series?
Michael B. Jordan, no, not the basketball legend, but the actor best known for his role as troubled teen Reggie Montgomery on ABC’s soap opera All My Children, is planning to take his career to the next level. The 23 year-old California native who has appeared on HBO’s The Wire and USA’s The Assistants, recently joined the cast of Friday Night Lights as football quarterback Vince Howard, which premieres May 7th at 8pm on NBC. Michael told us some things you probably never knew about him!
Six things you never knew about Michael B. Jordan! The B [in his middle name] stands for Bakari it means: of noble promise in Swahili. I used to have the biggest chipped front tooth ever.
I fight the urge to get tattoos daily. I make killer mashed potatoes from scratch.

BFFs Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus each earn equally one spot at the Young Artist Awards this year under the television category. The first two are included for their roles in TV movie "Princess Protection Program" while Miley is in for her leading role on "Hannah Montana".
In terms of the number, it is Miranda Cosgrove and her show "iCarly" that earn the most. Beside the actress herself who is nominated for Best Performance in a TV Series by a Leading Actress, the whole cast are nominated for Outstanding Young Performers in a TV Series. Additionally, Nathan Kress and Joey Luthman land a nod each in supporting actor and recurring categories respectively.
However, Nate Hartley adds one for "Hannah Montana" in the guest starring category. As for Gomez's "Wizards of Waverly Place", it is Jake T. Austin who gets a nod, while as for Lovato's "Sonny with a Chance...
