Warner Bros. Discovery shelved Coyote vs. Acme in November 2023 for a tax write-off. Since then, the cast has been very vocal about trying to make the movie happen.
The actors have shared high praise for the live-action animated hybrid film, encouraging fans not to forget about it. It looks like the efforts might have paid off because Coyote vs. Acme has a brand-new chance to see the light of a theater. Per Deadline, Warner Bros. is currently negotiating a big sale for the previously shelved movie.
Gareth West’s distributor-financier Ketchup Entertainment is now involved in negotiations with the studio, hoping to acquire the rights for the film in the $50 million range. This comes after Ketchup saved a different Looney Tunes project, The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, currently in theaters. Warner Bros. wrote the film off for tax purposes for $30 million.
So far, the two haven't reached an official agreement.

The year 2021 was wildly impactful and a standout year for modern cinema, seeing a wide array of dynamic and highly acclaimed releases that have already cemented powerful legacies for themselves. These films range from massively successful multimillion-dollar blockbusters like Dune and Spider-Man: No Way Home to striking independent films like The Green Knight and Pig. However, with more films being created and more ways to watch film than ever before, it is all but inevitable that, even years later, several exceptional films from the year have fallen through the cracks of obscurity.

Most Looney Tunes movies that made it to theaters in the past deserved to be hit with a few sticks of dynamite. But that’s not the case with The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, out now in theaters. Unlike many of its predecessors, The Day the Earth Blew Up is neither over-budgeted nor underwhelming; in fact, it manages to capture the spirit of the original Looney Tunes shorts, especially those of director Bob Clampett, pretty wonderfully.
While each of the classic Looney Tunes directors had their own unique stamp, Clampett’s cartoons were generally regarded as the silliest and most unpredictable, which is precisely what we see with The Day the Earth Blew Up. Starring Daffy Duck and Porky Pig in a Dumb and Dumber-like buddy comedy in which the duo must save the planet from an alien invasion, the film is a gag-filled romp.

Coyote vs. Acme may not ever see the light of day over at Warner Bros., but the new Looney Tunes movie certainly reminds fans of what could have been. Hitting theaters today, The Day the Earth Blew Up is a fully animated treasure trove of laughs that takes us back to the golden age of the franchise with both its animation style and the zany antics seen throughout. Kids will love it, parents will no doubt see it as a trip down memory lane, and critics? Well, they seem to be almost unanimous thanks to the film's recently revealed Rotten Tomatoes score.

Daffy Duck and Porky Pig attempt to thwart an insidious alien invader in a funny but exceedingly wacky original theatrical adventure. The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Moviegives the beloved childhood icons a 2D, hand-drawn cinematic canvas for total chaos and buffoonery. The screwball plot mostly delights as zany twists run amok until a wild ending that honestly overreaches. The bag of nuts tastes yummy until it doesn't. The filmmakers deserve a golf clap for creativity and stoking fandom's nostalgia, but should have reigned in the hijinks for the bonkers finale.
The Day the Earth Blew Up opens with Daffy Duck and Porky Pig, both voiced by the Emmy-winning and supremely talented Eric Bauza, as youngsters in a precarious predicament. Farmer Jim (Fred Tatasciore) saves the troublesome tykes and becomes an adopted father trying to corral their ridiculous shenanigans. Daffy grows to be intense and uncontrollable while...

One of last year's most critically acclaimed and financially successful horror movie was A Quiet Place: Day One, starring Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn. A follow-up to the 2020 film A Quiet Place Part II, Day One grossed over $261 million on a $67 million budget, particularly impressive because it is the first film in the franchise not to feature the Abbott family.
But you'd be mistaken if you thought the prequel film was the stand-in for a third movie in the franchise started by the 2018 film directed by John Krasinski. A Quiet Place Part III is still happening, as made clear by franchise producer Brad Fuller.
Speaking to The Direct during the recent South by Southwest film festival (SXSW), Fuller clarified that "Day One is not A Quiet Place 3, just to be clear," adding that work on third movie in the main trilogy was in active development.

The action genre loves a retiree getting pulled back into the fray to do some violence. From The Equalizer to A History of Violence to Pig, it’s undeniable how compelling and even endearing audiences find a normal, peaceful life giving way to the violent origins that shaped it. 2022’s The Killer is a frenetic but fluid—and surprisingly warm—entry into the subgenre. The Killer follows Bang Ui-gang (Jang Hyuk), a man of few words with a dry sense of humor and a quiet caffeine addiction. The inciting incident that calls Bang out of domestic bliss and back into the criminal underworld? His wife Hyeon-soo (Lee Chae-young) asks him to babysit.

Nicolas Cage is continuing to expand his wild filmography by dipping his toes into the western genre. But, it wouldn't be a Nic Cage movie without the actor either delivering one of the most groundbreaking, emotional performances of his life, or one of the most bonkers caricatures you've ever seen. For his new, wild western, Gunslingers, Cage has characteristically chosen the latter.
The first trailer for Gunslingers has now been unleashed, and it's safe to say that Cage is a certified scene-stealer once again. The film is written and directed by Brian Skiba (Guns of Redemption) and is set to be released on April 11. Cage plays mad genius Ben, who is guided to a town named Redemption to confront their violent histories. The official synopsis reads:

Ladies and gentlemen, I implore you! Please bear witness to today’s Gunslingers trailer and revel in the action and unseriousness of this delightful preview for what looks like an off-the-wall Western starring Nicolas Cage, Heather Graham and Stephen Dorff.
Today’s Gunslingers trailer is the shot in the arm I needed. I’m a massive Nicolas Cage fan, especially when he’s most unhinged. Don’t get me wrong, I love his dramatic roles in films like Pig, Leaving Las Vegas, and Dream Scenario. However, allowing Cage to be at his Cageiest is a cure for what ails ya.
Brian Skiba directs Gunslingers from his own script. The story unfolds in Redemption, where reformed gunslinger Thomas Keller (Dorff) and a mad genius, Ben (Cage), are guided by a spiritual leader named Jericho toward vindication. While wrestling with his inner demons, Keller runs afoul of the Five Points Gang. The confrontation forces Keller’s hand,...

Pete Browngardt’s delightful The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, a love letter to Warner Bros.’s iconic Looney Tunes franchise, knows the history of its source of inspiration so well that it has the confidence to work without the safety net of Bugs Bunny. Here we get a rare modern-day spotlight for Porky Pig and Daffy Duck (both voiced by Eric Bauza) that leans into their earliest character traits: Porky as the hapless but fundamentally decent, even good-natured, average joe, and Daffy as an uncontrollable chaos god no longer bound by fate to be humiliated by his nemesis. This Daffy can do bad all by himself.
As far back as 1943’s “Porky’s Pig Feat,” Porky and Daffy have shared a chemistry premised on the tension between the former’s dignity and the latter’s penchant for anarchy. That dynamic is brought to bear here...

Keira Knightley, the renowned actress, is officially done having more children. In an unexpected yet refreshing twist, the Pirates of the Caribbean actress said her family is complete. And, no, it’s not because of the pain of childbirth or the sleepless nights or postpartum; instead, it is all thanks to Studio Ghibli.

In November 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery shelved Coyote vs. Acme for a tax write-off. Although Wbd reversed its decision and allowed the movie to be acquired by other distributors, there have been no takers yet, leading many to worry that the Looney Tunes movie will never see the light of day.
However, according to voice actor Eric Bauza, it's not entirely over yet for Coyote vs. Acme. Speaking with Screen Rant at the recent WGA Awards, Bauza stated that he believed Warner Bros. would reconsider releasing Coyote vs. Acme if the next Looney Tunes movie, the fully-animated The Day the Earth Blew Up starring Daffy Duck and Porky Pig, was a box office success. "If this movie, The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie - opening March 14th, in theaters everywhere - gets a lot of money, then we might see Coyote Vs. Acme. Stranger things have happened!

Few stars had a bigger year in 2024 than Hugh Jackman, who returned to his iconic role of Logan in Deadpool & Wolverine, the MCU tentpole that grossed over $1.3 billion globally, but Jackman still made sure to secure future projects for himself. Now, Deadline reports that The Death of Robin Hood is building out its ensemble with three major stars, including Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett, and Noah Jupe. Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett and Noah Jupe have joined the cast of “The Death of Robin Hood.”
The trio of actors join previously announced stars Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer for a film that charts the outlaw’s “last days” that’s written and directed by Michael Sarnoski, the filmmaker behind the critically-acclaimed “Pig” and “A Quiet Place: Day One.”
The film finds Jackman’s Robin Hood “grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder,” the official logline explains, “a battleworn loner finds himself gravely injured and in the hands of a mysterious woman, who offers him a chance at salvation.” Principal photography begins this week in Ireland.
Lyrical Media is fully financing the film. Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett will produce under their Ryder Picture Company banner, alongside Alexander Black for Lyrical Media and Jackman. Lyrical’s Jon Rosenberg and Natalie Sellers will executive produce with Rama Gottumukkala and Sarnoski.

“I’m not a fan,” snaps Matthew, the master manipulator in the guise of a harmless nobody eager to soak up some of the refracted rays of celebrity in Lurker. Once he has penetrated the inner circle of emerging pop star Oliver, a fan is the most insulting thing you could call him. Proximity gives Matthew — played by Théodore Pellerin with an evil innocence from which you can’t look away — the illusion of being a best friend, a bro, a creative collaborator to the mononymous singer. Everyone in his entourage wants to bask in Oliver’s glow, but nobody wants it as badly as Matt.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent cast and character guide. Directed by Tom Gormican from a screenplay by him and Kevin Etten, the film breaks the fourth wall by having Nicolas Cage portraying a fictional version of himself — Nick Cage, an actor who can no longer land a major studio role and is in a lot of debt despite having starred in blockbusters like National Treasure. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is a rare movie wherein an actor playing a version of themselves works on many levels.
The plot combines various genres and leans quite a bit into the buddy comedy aspect. It’s unclear where Gormican and Etten may have gotten the idea for the movie, but Cage certainly has no issue spoofing parts of his career and making meta jokes about the films he’s made and the movie industry at large. Nicolas Cage is joined by a fantastic cast,...

As the actor's resurgence continues, a recent Nicolas Cage hit is finding a new streaming home. Even before landing his Oscar win for Leaving Las Vegas, the actor had made a name for himself in the '80s with leading roles in everything from the teen romantic comedy Valley Girl to the Coen brothers' Raising Arizona. He would solidify himself as a household name with his work in the action genre throughout the '90s and 2000s, including Michael Bay's The Rock, John Woo's Face/Off and the National Treasure franchise.
For the majority of the 2010s, Cage infamously became better known for his work in critically panned direct-to-video movies, which he has since explained stemmed from encountering financial problems and taking on as many projects as possible to make up for it. He would begin to enjoy a career resurgence with the 2018 psychedelic horror movie Mandy and the crime drama Pig,...

Osamu Tezuka reshaped Japanese pop culture with his manga "Astro Boy." In a future world, Japanese science minister Dr. Tenma loses his son Tobio in a car accident. He recreates Tobio as an android, Astro (known as Atom in the original Japanese). The manga is a futuristic reimagining of "Pinocchio" that becomes a superhero story.
You can trace Japan's love affair with robots to "Astro Boy" — modern mecha and shonen manga/anime wouldn't exist without it. Despite being foundational in Japan, Astro Boy isn't much of an icon in the United States. One attempt to import him, a 2009 CGI animated "Astro Boy" picture from Imagi Animation Studios, failed and left Imagi underwater.

Nicolas Cage’s career trajectory is one of the most fascinating in film history. After breaking out in a series of films directed by his uncle, Francis Ford Coppola, Cage became one of the most ambitious dramatic actors of his generation, even winning an Academy Award for Best Actor for his heartbreaking performance in Leaving Las Vegas. Cage spent many years starring in blockbuster action films like The Rock and Face/Off, but the quality of his output began to go downhill after a series of disastrous projects that were heavily ridiculed. Although he became most closely associated with over-the-top moments of overacting, Cage delivered a beautifully intimate performance in the 2021 drama Pig by director Michael Sarnoski.

A Nicolas Cage movie with a 62% Rotten Tomatoes score receives a glowing review from a mafia expert. Cage began his career in the 1980s by appearing in films such as Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Rumble Fish, and Moonstruck. Cage won the Academy Award for Best Actor in recognition of his starring role in 1995's Leaving Las Vegas, which is widely considered Nicolas Cage's best 1990s' movie. The 1990s also saw Cage starring in several action movies, including The Rock, Con Air, and Face/Off.
The quality and reception of his movies varied significantly through the 2000s and 2010s, ranging from the popular National Treasure films to the critically panned Ghost Rider movies. The perception surrounding Cage and his movies began to change in more recent years, especially with his performances in Pig, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, and Longlegs all garnering critical acclaim.
