The horror-comedy is set to begin shooting this month in Los Angeles from District 78 Films and Father Greg Productions.

It follows a group of friends in a cover band making their way from Portland, Oregon, to perform at a wedding in Napa, California. When they discover an abandoned karaoke machine in the back of a dive bar, the motley crew must find a way to defeat the cursed machine before it eliminates them.

Underwood plays songwriter Emily and Walker plays bassist Noah, with Cunning as lead singer Hannah, who has come to terms with a career as a cover band musician only to learn it might become the death of them.

Chris Lightbody and Robert J. Steinmiller Jr. are making their feature directorial debut from a script by Lightbody and Spencer Yaras.

Pyewacket and Out Come the Wolves director Adam MacDonald is helming apocalyptic horror-thriller This Is Not a Test, and the filmmaker recently took to Instagram to reveal that production is officially underway.

The horror movie adapts the YA novel by New York Times bestselling author Courtney Summers, set at the start of a zombie apocalypse.

It’s incredibly rare for any movie to make more money in its second weekend of release than its first, but Spyglass and Sony’s slasher Heart Eyes managed to do just that over the weekend.

Topping its opening weekend domestic haul of $8.3 million, director Josh Ruben’s Heart Eyes just scared up an additional $10 million in its second weekend at the U.S. box office!

Positive word of mouth and strong reviews helped out here, but Heart Eyes‘ week two success can no doubt be largely attributed to this past Friday being Valentine’s Day. The movie made $4.9 million on V-Day alone, up from the debut Friday total of $3.7 million. Even this week’s Sunday and Monday totals were higher than the previous week’s Sunday and Monday hauls. Another holiday, President’s Day, surely helped to boost this past Monday’s performance.

Josh Ruben’s Heart Eyes brought a brand new original slasher to the box office over the weekend, with the holiday-themed horror movie nearly matching the opening weekend of fellow Spyglass slasher Thanksgiving back in 2023. While that movie opened to $10.3 million, Heart Eyes came up a tad bit short with a domestic opening weekend haul of $8.5 million.

Sony released Heart Eyes into 3,102 theaters across the United States over the weekend, with the slasher/romantic comedy hybrid competing with the Super Bowl on Sunday. But the real test for Heart Eyes will be this coming weekend, with Valentine’s Day Weekend giving the Valentine’s Day-themed horror movie a perfect opportunity to win over more hearts.

Heart Eyes, which comes with a reported $18 million production price tag, is currently in the #2 spot on the domestic box office charts behind the animated family movie Dogman.

Adam MacDonald has been set to direct apocalyptic horror-thriller “This is Not a Test,” which Blue Fox Entertainment is introducing at the EFM in Berlin.

The film — coming from Anova Pictures — is based on the YA novel by New York Times bestselling author Courtney Summers, and will feature an ensemble cast led by Olivia Holt, Froy Gutierrez, and Luke MacFarlane. Principal photography is set to begin later this month in Ontario, Canada.

Cybill Lui is producing under her Anova Pictures banner, while MacDonald also produces. Blue Fox Entertainment has acquired all international rights across non-English-speaking territories and will be launching international sales at EFM. BondIt Media Capital is providing financing with Matthew Helderman and Luke Taylor executive producing. Anova is producing in association with North Avenue Pictures and WorldOne Entertainment.

It's officially 2025, and we can’t wait to welcome back all of our favorite shows! One show we're especially excited to see return with a brand new season is the supernatural mystery drama School Spirits. The long-awaited second season is set to be released on Paramount+ sometime early this year.

After the shocking reveal of Maddie's fate at the end of the first season, we're really looking forward to diving back into the story in School Spirits season 2. Season 1 follows Maddie Nears, a teen girl who ends up trapped in the afterlife after mysteriously dying at her high school. Michelle Thompson, a costume designer and stylist with dozens of credits including Cha Cha Real Smooth, Jungleland and TV’s Threads, died Monday of breast cancer at her Los Angeles home. She was 40.

Her family revealed the news on Thompson’s Instagram page, saying in part: “She was a mother, a friend, an artist, and a fighter. … Safe travels Michelle, come visit us often if you can.” See the full post below.

Thompson’s costume designer film credits also include The President’s Sun, Reseda Blvd, The Diabolical, $50K and a Call Girl: A Love Story along with numerous short films featuring the likes of Seth Rogen, Kumail Nanjiani and Kevin Bacon. Exclusive: Barrett Carnahan (Cobra Kai) has been cast in the Apple TV+ series For All Mankind for the space drama’s upcoming fifth season. In a recurring role, he will portray ‘Marcus,’ a recent high school graduate living on Mars.

The latest season of For All Mankind, created by Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi, rocketed the series into the new millennium. In the eight years since Season 3, Happy Valley has rapidly expanded its footprint on Mars by turning former foes into partners. It’s now 2003, and the space program’s focus has turned to capturing and mining extremely valuable, mineral-rich asteroids that could change the future of both Earth and Mars. But simmering tensions between the residents of the now-sprawling international base threaten to undo everything they are working toward.

Carnahan joins the expanding cast that includes Mireille Enos, Costa Ronin, Sean Kaufman, Ruby Cruz and Ines Asserson.

She achieved more than 26.6 billion streams around the world, putting her ahead of The Weeknd at No. 2, Bad Bunny at No. 3, Drake at No. 4, and Billie Eilish at No. 5. Swift’s success was powered by her blockbuster album “The Tortured Poets Department,” which spent 15 weeks on top of the Billboard 200 albums chart. Swift, of course, ranked No. 1 as the year’s most-streamed artist globally on Spotify, her second consecutive year to take the honor. Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department was the most-streamed album of the year on Spotify. Coming in at No. 2 was The Weeknd.

The year was undoubtedly a great one for pop music — specifically, women in the genre! On Wednesday, Spotify announced its end-of-year Spotify Wrapped data, including its ranking of most-streamed albums globally, which saw women in the Top Eight slots for 2024.

Topping the list was Taylor Swift with her album The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology. Swift made the Top 10 twice more: 2023’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) reached Number Six and 2019’s Lover came in at Number Eight.

This is the fifth consecutive year The Joe Rogan Experience has been the top podcast on Spotify and comes after he interviewed former President Donald Trump on his show leading up to the election. Cooper, who hosts Call Her Daddy, interviewed Vice President Kamala Harris on her show and took the second place slot for the second year in a row.

Notably, the two podcasts still topped the list after Spotify ceded exclusivity of both titles. The top five podcasts globally also included Huberman Lab and This Past Weekend w/Theo Von in the third and fourth spots and The Diary of A CEO with Steven Bartlett, a British video podcast, in the fifth spot.
