This movie uses cliché'd cinematics to try to bolster a weak and boring story, which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing if it didn't fail horribly in doing so.
It's like the producers and directors had a list of boxes to check, and closed their eyes and pointed to scenes and used them at random. So it's like a pretentious student film. Casting is also cliché'd and acting poor to mediocre for the most part.
This could've been a good film (if the script were a bit better), and I imagine it will end up in some film-school course on how not to make a movie.
It's remarkable that it got theatre distribution in its country of origin. I guess the theatres there are desperate for content.

Hadn't written any review for years, this movie irked me into writing one.
Imagine a movie where not one character is likeable. The storytelling is full of annoying clichés, trying to create the vibe of an Edgar Wright&Simon Pegg collaboration but comes nowhere close.
The story itself is quite interesting, it takes something to turn this story into a boring movie.
It was a very poor movie that I do not recommend watching. Every participant comes off looking bad. (the director, the writer, the actors et cetera) Trying to fill this review with enough characters while trying not to be too harsh.

An almost perfect copy of the great Shattered Glass. I believe that the film is set up precisely in this sense, although it is based on real events, it is a true clone of the American film, which dealt with the story of an identical character in every detail. Not only is the plot identical, based on very similar facts, but also the direction, focusing on almost comical moments and truly dramatic moments. I've seen Shattered Glass at least five times, and every time i see it again, because I see it often :-) , i find it more and more brilliant, in the setting of the story, in the detail of the characters. This german clone isn't bad, but having too much "in front of" Shattered Glass, i feel like i'm entering a deja-vu. All in all, however, it deserves full approval.
German films are rarely of suprisingly good quality, in my opinion. This one does surpass the mediocrity of the usual content.
All in all, it is a Smart mix of satirical comedy and serious analysis of the sadly continuously downgrading quality of journalism in the age of instant information.
I particularly loved the editing, which was the best part of the movie for me. Thematically the movie was also quite enthralling.
The humor is quite diverse and functions sometimes quite well.
The virtue-signaling is a slight insult to the viewers intelligence as it even explicitly questions the latter.
I would give this movie a 7.5 out of 10.

Tausend Zeilen is a compact story that discusses the immense importance of honesty in our duties towards society. A very intriguing subject that leaves room for humour and excitement at the same time. Great use of visuals indicative of the contrast between the two main characters. Great dialogues and extra scenes draws a good picture about hardships faced by a journalist. It's a great tribute to all the writers who brings knowledge to this world. Also the commentary on corporate politics was done brilliantly. Tausend Zeilen is a complete production that offers a lot without consuming alot of time for it.
