1 of the best modern Greek series

A great love story, set as a background the way of life of the Greek Pontians in the then Ottoman Empire, with historical issues of the time suck as the Balkan Wars, the fight to free Greece and the genocide and persecusion of the Armemians and Greeks. Set from 1896 to 1923. Filmed in 7 countries including Greece, France, and Russia. The budget of every episode is equivalent to a budget of a movie

The only history they have

If you are interested to learn the "history" and the "accomplishments" of Turkey, this is the best series you can find .

Very well made series focus on a love story and of course the pain and the suffering of the Greeks .

Barbaric brutal and honest series.

Great Story And Series

The writer is a genius, this show is really historically accurate, no stupid fan service, no unrealistic plot armour; Just a story on a historical genocide that has no dumb plots and is realistic to what happened.

Great tv series,it should have English subtitles!

It's great and it should have English subtitles so that many people all over the world could watch it!

The second season is even better! I hope to make it available in other countries with the subtitles of course!

We watch it every Sunday and I have to tell that it's trustworthy it explains all the reasons of the war,the genocides from Tsetes and Topal Osman but also the wrong decisions from the Greek government.

I love it because it does not distinguish people based on their nationality, there are both bad and good people in every side Respect! Don't miss it if you have the chance to watch it!

A beautifully done, must watch, MASTERPIECE!

"To Kokkino Potami" AKA, "The Red River" is a stunningly done historical drama television series directed by Manousos Manousakis for OpenTV in 2019.

This series is a must watch historical drama masterpiece, based on the homonymous novel by Charis Tsirkinidis detailing the real events surrounding the Greek genocide,

The series follows the real-life story of a young couple from Pontos, a then Greek-populated region on the southern coast of the Black Sea during the 19th century.

This series painfully and historically accurate and sheds light on the past to the viewer regarding what happened during one of the most tragic times in history. The viewer connects with characters who stood up for themselves, who loved, who had faith and hope for a better future, never gave up and simply tried to survive.

The stunningly beautiful presentation of the scenes was achieved by the scenes that were full of emotion, and the beautiful music. The music had a way to sometimes give you hope and other times you would feel it so deeply it would bring you to tears. This series touches the viewers heart and soul, triggering a vast range of emotions in every single episode.100% recommended!
