Indian Ocean bass guitarist and Aisi Taisi Democracy co-founder Rahul Ram has released a cover version of A R Rahman’s Oscar-winning ‘Jai Ho’ track for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ on Monday to mark the 75th Independence Day.

He has collaborated with musicians such as IP Singh, Shibani Kashyap, Subir Malik and others under the banner of the music collective Delhi Indie Project. The video shows the artistes, all dressed in white, as they lip sync to the lyrics of the song — minus the bits in Spanish — originally written by Gulzar.

A message accompanying the video said: “Dedicating the 75th Independence Day to the Armed Forces of India! Jai Hind! Heartfelt thanks and gratitude to our family and friends for constantly being there at every step in.”

HBO has released a brand-new trailer for the highly anticipated “Game of Thrones” prequel series, “House of the Dragon.” The forthcoming show is the first time fans will be able to revisit the fictional continent of Westeros since May of 2019 when its predecessor aired its series finale.

In addition to the new trailer, HBO also unveiled a brand new set of character posters, showcasing all of the show’s major characters. Based on George R.R. Martin‘s “Fire & Blood,” the series, set 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones,” tells the story of House Targaryen.

The series was created by Ryan J. Condal and Martin, who also serve as executive producers alongside Miguel Sapochnik, Vince Gerardis, Sara Lee Hess, and Ron Schmidt. It will be directed by Clare Kilner and Geeta V. Patel.

The Monte-Carlo Television Festival has outlined its plans for the 61st edition which takes place in the principality from June 17-21 this year. Vying for the Golden Nymph awards which honor the best in international television production are 21 programs from 12 countries across three categories. They include Paramount+’s The Offer, Amy Poehler’s doc Lucy And Desi and Jamie Dornan-starrer The Tourist.

The opening evening of the festival will see the world premiere of the first two episodes of five-part thriller Last Light, produced by MGM International TV Productions, in association with Peacock, Viaplay, Mbc Group, Stan and internationally distributed by MGM.

Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, who also serves as the president of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), has thrown his weight behind a range of new schemes to support up-and-coming talent.

During the Duke’s visit to the recently redeveloped BAFTA headquarters at 195 Piccadilly in London on Thursday, the organization unveiled plans for the Prince William BAFTA Bursary fund, aimed at talented individuals who, due to financial reasons, would otherwise not be able to pursue careers in the screen industries.

This year, Elevate, BAFTA’s year-long industry support and activity program, will open to scripted and non-scripted producers working in film and television who are disabled, from minority ethnic backgrounds and from low-socioeconomic backgrounds.

In addition, BAFTA also revealed Connect, a new discounted tier of membership for emerging and mid-level professionals who will be able to access BAFTA’s membership benefits at an earlier career stage.

Uncle Frank and It’s a Sin were the big winners tonight as the Monte-Carlo Television Festival revealed the Golden Nymph Awards for its 60th annual event during a ceremony at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco.

Paul Bettany took Best Actor for Miramax and Amazon’s Uncle Frank, which also scored trophies for Best Film and Best Creation, and Lydia West scooped Best Actress for the UK’s It’s a Sin, winner of the Best Series prize. The show comes from

The streaming service on Tuesday announced a series order for Our Flag Means Death, a period comedy created by People of Earth‘s David Jenkins, who will serve as showrunner. “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” cast is shedding tears all over again for the late James Avery, who played Uncle Phil on the classic ’90s NBC comedy starring Will Smith.

The cast had a little reunion on the finale episode of Smith’s Snapchat series “Will From Home,” and the occasion called for a little honorary viewing of Avery’s most iconic moments and quotes from the beloved series.

“That just makes me teary,” Smith said in the episode, which you can watch below. “You know, the first couple times that I’m seeing clips of James.”

The Prince tribute actually finished second in terms of total viewers, ranking only behind its own lead-in, an “NCIS” rerun. CBS won the night outright.

“Empire” concluded to a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49, which is the key demographic for primetime entertainment advertisers, and just under 3 million total viewers.

‘Dance Pe Chance’ – Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi...

Subhash Ghai is currently touring the country with the lead actors in his upcoming film Kaanchi. The Showman, along with Mishti and Kartik Aaryan, is visiting 9 cities, attending and organizing events.

Starting with Bhopal, the trio was at a mall to interact with media where Ghai spoke about what kept him away from filmmaking for five years. “After Yuvvraaj I spent three years exclusively dedicated to my school Whistling Woods. Thereafter, one year was spent in writing a script and another one and half year in making the movie. I plunge into filmmaking only when I am satisfied with the script,’ said Ghai.

Mumbai, Feb 28: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is keen to work with internationally acclaimed composer A.R. Rahman and he is awaiting for an opportunity to collaborate with the Oscar winner.

Filmmaker Subhash Ghai has finally locked a release date for his new movie Kaanchi - it will hit the screens April 11.

Desperate for a directorial hit since the 1999 Aishwarya Rai-starrer Taal, Bollywood’s original ‘showman’ Subhash Ghai will be back to film direction with a multi-starrer this year.

After the Anil Kapoor-Aishwarya Rai starrer Taal, all his directorial ventures – Yaadein, Kisna: The Warrior Poet, Black & White and Yuvvraaj - have bombed at the box-office despite having a formidable casting.

“That is past now, I have a lot of hopes riding on this new film,” Ghai said, who runs the film production and distribution company Mukta Arts.

“Art and commerce – both are involved when I think of making a film. If the film is too arty and cannot be made for the general audience, then I have to think twice,” he said when asked about what kind of a film he is about to direct.
