Don’t let anybody tell you differently: the fall festival announcements aren’t even close to being over. Look no further than the second part of today’s morning double whammy, as the Toronto International Film Festival has just announced its sprawling Centrepiece program, just one hour after the New York Film Festival released its own Main Slate. On its own, this lineup would be juicy enough. Paired with NYFF? Well, there goes our morning.
TIFF’s internationally-focused section has always been a feast for fans of global cinema, and this year’s lineup is no exception. This year, there are 55 titles (and 19 world premieres) from filmmakers representing nearly fifty countries, all reflecting the festival’s enduring commitment to global cinema.
This year’s lineup includes the latest work from influential filmmakers Hubert Davis, Mathieu Denis, Hasan Hadi, Chie Hayakawa, Anders Thomas Jensen, Jan Komasa, Richard Linklater, Sergei Loznitsa, Pietro Marcello,...

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves arrives 26 years after Garou: Mark of the Wolves, marking the return of Snk’s classic one‑on‑one gameplay. During that hiatus, Snk focused its energy on King of Fighters and Samurai Shodown, leaving direct rival‑versus‑rival fans without their flagship series. City of the Wolves picks up where its predecessor left off, with a four‑button layout—close and far versions of punch and kick—that rewards precise spacing and well‑timed antiairs.
Seventeen fighters fill the roster at launch: veterans from the original cast, four fresh combatants bringing new tactical tools, and two real‑world guests whose gimmicks shake up familiar matchups. Single players can climb the traditional Arcade ladder or explore Episodes of South Town, a map‑driven RPG mode that ties narrative beats to sequential battles and light progression. A team up between The Office stars and Green Day was not on my 2025 Bingo card, but I'm intrigued. The punk rock band known for hits like “Basket Case,” “American Idiot,” and “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life),” are working with two alums of NBC's most popular comedy show on an unexpected new movie. While the film has been described as a comedy, it is not related to the recently released and poorly received Australian version of the long-running show about printer and paper sales. The new film sounds much more exciting.
According to Variety, Live Nation Productions is partnering with Green Day to create a comedy film inspired by the band's crazy early days on the road, and is set to star The Office's Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey. New Years Rev is described as a coming-of-age story about three friends, who will be played by Mason Thames of The Black Phone,...

A comedy movie involving Green Day is on its way. On Monday, Variety revealed that Live Nation Productions is producing a film titled New Years Rev, backed by and involving the rock band.
The film project written and directed by Lee Kirk will be a coming-of-age movie, which follows three friends in a band as they travel to Los Angeles thinking they’ll open for Green Day at a New Year’s Eve concert.

The Rev-8 has been a transformational addition to Starfield but one creative player managed to fly the vehicle even higher with a fantastic mod. Gone are the days of mindless trudging around planets in the hope of coming across something interesting as Starfield players can now simply climb into the driver's seat of a speedy buggy. Taking that idea one step further, modders quickly figured out how to take the bones of the Rev-8 and turn it into something more visually unique without losing its usefulness.
Posted to the Starfield Creations page, modder zone79 shared their design for the Grav-79, a standalone cyberpunk-inspired hovercraft that can be purchased from a Ship Service Technician. An upgrade on the Rev-8 in every sense, this vehicle allows players to zoom across the land or take to the skies by holding down the vertical boost button and the forward thrust controls. “Monster” Season 3 has added Laurie Metcalf, Tom Hollander, and Olivia Williams to its cast, Variety has learned exclusively.
The trio join previously announced cast member Charlie Hunnam, who will star as Ed Gein in the next season of the Netflix anthology series. According to sources, Metcalf will play Gein’s mother, Augusta, while Hollander will play Alfred Hitchcock and Williams will play Alma Reville, Hitchcock’s wife.
Given that Gein served as one of the inspirations for Norman Bates and Hitchcock’s film “Psycho,” it would appear Season 3 of the hit Netflix anthology will delve into how Gein’s crimes influenced the film and the novel upon which the film was based.
Gein became infamous in the 1950s when authorities discovered that he not only had killed multiple people, but had dug up graves from a cemetery near his home and fashioned all manner of household items and clothing from human remains.

A year after Starfield's original launch, Bethesda Game Studios is gearing up for the game's first major expansion, Shattered Space on September 30, 2024. The new Dlc will lean into a horror aesthetic as players venture to the previously unseen planet of Va'ruun'kai, home to the Great Serpent-worshipping House Va'ruun after some experiments have left it in a state of disarray.
While this expansion was announced prior to Starfield's initial launch and was used as an incentive to buy the Digital Deluxe or Constellation Editions of the game, Bethesda has spent the year in between adding different features to the game. These include more tools for the ship builder that offer players a way to customize the interiors of their crafts to make it feel more like a mobile home for their characters, and the new Rev-8 land vehicle, adding some much-needed quicker traversal to the game.

Episode five of The COmpletely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin brings a new charismatic rival into the mix, threatening Turpin's leadership and adding more chaos. Connor Swindells delivers a hilarious performance as Tommy Silversides, adding depth to the character's surprising arc. Fielding tells us how the show's bountiful cast of comedic actors create a perfect balance of eccentricity without becoming too farcical.
The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin has been a delightful ride through history, folklore, fantasy, and absurdity these last few weeks. The fifth and penultimate episode, "Tommy Silversides," premieres today on Apple TV+, and we have a clip which you can watch above. We also spoke with star Noel Fielding and producer Kenton Allen about the series for a wide-ranging conversation.

Big Talk Productions CEO Kenton Allen is typically straight when reflecting on 2020. “A disaster,” he says, surveying the economic wreckage of Covid-19 over a Zoom call from his home in London last month. Like countless others, the pandemic has blown a huge hole in Big Talk’s earnings and created unthinkable headaches for the company, which should have been celebrating a very healthy 12 months. But Allen, a gruff optimist, is celebrating the wins of the coronavirus crisis, rather than wallowing in what went wrong.
For starters, Big Talk managed to convince the BBC and Amazon to commission a second season of Stephen Merchant comedy-drama The Offenders before the first had even been shot. Known for comedy hits including Rev and Mum, the production firm also finally wrapped a second season of Channel 4/Sundance Now’s Back after a bewildering run of setbacks, both Covid and non-Covid-related. USA Network has ordered a fourth season of its thriller limited drama series The Sinner, with Bill Pullman set to reprise his role as Detective Harry Ambrose. Additionally, the network has picked up two new unscripted series, Instant Family (working title), starring Nicole Walters and Josh Walters, and The Rev (working title), headlined by Pastor Richard Hartley. Both are in the unscripted family sitcom genre, which the network has been focusing on following the success of Chrisley Knows Best.
The renewal and new series pickups are part of the current programming shift at USA away from ongoing scripted series toward more live and unscripted programming, along with “eventized” scripted projects, largely limited/anthology series.
This is a programming strategy that has been gaining momentum among basic cable networks as it is becoming increasingly challenging for premium scripted series to be sustained by the linear ad-supported cable business model.
