Boys Life 6

9/10

Overall Great

My favorite, by far, was Davy and Stu. It was such a good piece. So heart rendering and completely relevant to what every gay boy has gone through.

Bugcrusher was disturbing. Very creepy. But, overall, done well.

Doorman was weird. I did not understand it.

And the last one was okay. It really did show that things can be different, especially when you are off at college. You forget what the rest of the world, the real world, is like.

BUT Davy and Stu, was just phenomenal. I can not rave enough about it. I loved it. So much.

Mediocre short films

This is a collection of four short films.

Out of the films, I enjoyed "Doorman" the best. It is quite stylishly shot, and has great character development. In the space of just 17 minutes, I have grown sympathetic of Diego. He is a convincing character, his fascination with Garrett, the subsequent confusion are portrayed well. The acting is great, the tension between the two characters are presented engagingly.

"Heartland" is also OK, the film is full of bright colours and sunshine, but the story itself is not as cheerful as the screen suggests. The soundtrack is upbeat, which enhances the entertainment factor.

I did not like "Davy and Stu", as this low budget production lacks an engaging plot, and the dialog is constantly incomprehensible.

In summary, I would not pay to watch these, but if you come across "Doorman", you can give it a try.
