Terrific--just like the men.

Ossie Davis narrated this excellent PBS documentary about the legendary Tuskegee Airmen--a group of black pilots who fought the color barrier to prove themselves during WWII. The film consisted of interviews with some of the surviving pilots, some vintage footage and a few historical recreations. Apart from one small mistake*, the film was very well done--and quite inspiring and fascinating as well. If you enjoy this film, try to find the made for HBO film "The Tuskegee Airmen"--a somewhat fictionalized account of some of these brave men. Well worth seeing--especially because it shows us just how far we have come as a nation.

*This film repeats the same mistake I once thought was true. They state that these fighter pilots NEVER lost a bomber they were escorting. While their record was amazingly good, they actually did lose a few. Dr. Daniel Haulman wrote a paper about this and several other myths about the group--while still lauding their efforts.
