Summaries

  • Many of us have at least one difficult conversation ahead that we're overthinking and avoiding. We asked you to tell us about yours. The Lily created a show to help you approach challenging talks. "Nora Knows What to Say" is an advice series featuring Nora McInerny, author of "No Happy Endings" and host of the podcast "Terrible, Thanks for Asking." She knows all about navigating challenges. In 2014, her husband died of brain cancer, her father died and she miscarried her second child - all in the span of about seven weeks. In this series, McInerny helps Lily readers prepare for difficult conversations. Watch new episodes of "Nora Knows What to Say" on Instagram and YouTube every Thursday. McInerny speaks with seven different women on topics ranging from mental health and dating to motherhood and friendship. She advises a college senior on how to tell her parents that she's a survivor of childhood sexual violence and helps a widow balance grief and a budding relationship. She lends advice to a woman who keeps dating men she finds smelly and helps a 29-year-old combat fear and hopelessness ahead of her 30th birthday. Regardless of your circumstances, chances are you'll find a kernel of advice that fits your life. McInerny shares tips on how to set boundaries and expectations ahead of weighty talks. We hope that "Nora Knows What to Say" inspires you to tackle the difficult conversations in your life with ease, laughter and a healthy dose of self-compassion.
