How Old Are the Avatar: The Last Airbender Characters Compared to the Cast?
Image
Netflix's live-action Avatar remake avoided the mistakes of the 2010 film by casting authentically diverse actors. The cast's age differences from their characters in Avatar: The Last Airbender did not affect their performances. Fans were relieved that Netflix's series stayed true to the essence of the original Nickelodeon show with talented casting choices.

The release of Netflix's live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender was much anticipated. Given that a previous live-action adaptation of the beloved Nickelodeon series was met with a fair share of criticism, the Netflix team had a formidable task ahead of them. The streamer's remake, which premiered in the form of a TV series instead of a film, was released on February 22, 2024. With a 75% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, it appears as if Netflix's Avatar has fared much better than its 2010 predecessor.

A main pitfall of the 2010 live-action film had to do with its cast. The...

Image
Netflix France shared a new image from the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series. The series follows Aang, a young Airbender who must master the four elements to save the world. The release date of the show is set for February 22, 2024.

A new image has been revealed from Avatar: The Last Airbender. The upcoming Netflix show is a live-action rendering of the classic Nickelodeon animated show of the same name. Set in a world where gifted people can manipulate or "bend" one of the four elements, it follows a young Airbender named Aang (Gordon Cormier) who is the Avatar, a reincarnated being with the power to unite the elements. He embarks on a perilous adventure with siblings Katara (Kiawentiio) and Sokka (Ian Ousley) to master the elements and stop the Fire Nation from conquering the world.

On Twitter, Netflix France shared a new first-look image from the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Peacock Debuts ‘Bel-Air’ Teaser (TV News Roundup)
Image
Peacock debuted a trailer for “Bel-Air,” the upcoming drama series that reimagines the ‘90s sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” “Bel-Air” is set to premiere in 2022.

Based on Morgan Cooper’s viral fan film of the same name, “Bel-Air” stars Jabari Banks as Will, the role played by Will Smith in the original sitcom. The series follows Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. Adrian Holmes, Cassandra Freeman, Olly Sholotan, Coco Jones, Akira Akbar, Jimmy Akingbola, Jordan L. Jones and Simone Joy Jones also star.

In the teaser, Smith gives a dramatic reading of the theme song from “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” in voiceover as Banks’ Will is shown underwater, surrounded by motifs from the original show: basketballs, fuzzy dice, a crown, etc.

Executive producers include showrunners T.J. Brady and Rasheed Newson, director and co-writer Morgan Cooper, Smith, Terence Carter,...

2020 Emmy awards nominations ballot: See all 28 Best TV Movie contenders from ‘Agatha Raisin And The Haunted House’ to ‘Z-o-m-b-i-e-s 2’
Image
The made-for-tv movie was a programming staple for the broadcast networks in the 1970s and 1980s. While it fell out of favor in the 1990s and was even dropped as an Emmy Awards category for three years beginning in 2011, it has been on an upswing as of late. This year, 28 telefilms are in contention for the five nominations that will be revealed on July 28; last year only 21 TV movies were submitted.

All 22,000 plus voting members of the TV academy have until July 13 to cast their 2020 Emmy Awards nominations ballots for their favorite TV movies. In the past, voters were limited in the number of telefilms that they could put forth. In 2017 that cap (which was usually 10 per category) was lifted. And, as opposed to the Oscars, voters for the Emmys do not rank their choices and nominees are determined by a simple tally.
