This movie initially appears to be a mix of The Purge and Project X. All substances (including alcohol) are only legal for one night a year, and the main character wants to ask his lifelong crush, the principals daughter, to prom. Hijinks ensue.
This premise would have worked infinitely better if it centered around a major holiday weekend, like St Pattys day and just ditched this ridiculous premise of prohibition 364 days of the year. Other than the movie's title and the central even of the movie, the premise is not really explored or developed at all. Many locations are a bar, fully stocked with glass shooters, with PBR neon signs in the window, but drinking only occurs once a year? The limo driver is an obvious burnout taking advantage of the night yet it's his one night a year to do this? Moms drink wine exactly like the do most afternoons already. It was actually pretty fun to pick out these obvious situations throughout the movie.
On to the movie itself. It was absolutely hilarious. Vince Vaughn kills it whenever he is on screen. He is so funny that I was dying laughing at most of his scenes. Skylar was a pretty good main character. He has a lot of funny moments along with his best friend and their modern day Fogle (fake ids are wristbands to the party).
This movie has plenty of jokes, physical comedy and funny moments. Overall this movie is a forgettable coming of age film. If you already have Hulu I would keep this movie in mind and watch it one evening.

It had it's moments of chuckles, and was a nice parody of "The Purge", but when it turned into a song and dance musical, it got annoying and unbearable. Not sure who'd bright idea that was, but had that been cut out, with the shorter run time, it would've been watchable. Never mind all the bogus reviews pretty much all the ones above a 7. I guess the producers lost faith in the movie as well to resort to these tactics. If you're going to watch it, just FFWD past the useless song and dance parts. It's a generous 5/10 from me
Not even remotely funny. This movie sucked. Couldn't keep my attention for more then 5 minutes. It was decent background noise at best. 5 stars 👎
Funny and goes down easy. Typical losers need to get to the party after high school story that has been done a million times. The movie does a good job of it though and is thoroughly enjoyable with a lot of laugh out loud moments and some unique takes on the premise.
