Earlier this year, The Horror Collective announced that they’ll be bringing us a Christmas-set (and 80s-set) slasher called He Sees You When You’re Sleeping this holiday season – and now we know exactly when we’ll have the chance to watch the movie! He Sees You When You’re Sleeping will be receiving a digital and VOD release on November 1st, and with that date right around the corner, a trailer for the film has dropped online. Back in 1986, Caroline Williams played one of my all-time favorite horror final girls, “Stretch” in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. She has followed that with several more horror movie appearances, taking roles in the likes of Leprechaun 3, Blind, and the recent Nicolas Cage Dracula movie Renfield, among many others. Freeze gave us Lovecraftian horrors in the Arctic, now for a followup writer/director Charlie Steeds takes us to the Antarctic to face even more of them in the deep sea thriller Gods of the Deep.

Jim Peters is a professor of astrobiology at Miskatonic University’s London campus. He’s carrying on the work of his father, who vanished under mysterious circumstances while working for The Pickman Corporation. They help fund his research, but that doesn’t mean he trusts them. But when they want him to join an expedition to explore a strange structure discovered in an oceanic trench off Antarctica, he can’t refuse.

Children of the Night (no relation to the Tony Randel-directed film from 1991) is a first for Charlie Steeds’ company Dark Temple Motion Pictures. Where their previous films such as Freeze and The Barge People have all been Steeds’ own productions, this time they served as producers for the debut feature from writer/director William Stead. Regular readers know I’m a fan of Steed’s films, so of course I was curious to see if his talents extended to producing other filmmakers’ work.

The Friday Fright Night feature we have for you this week is called An English Haunting – which doesn’t leave much question as to what sort of movie this might be. Of course it’s a haunted house movie. And this isn’t always a horror sub-genre that I get much enjoyment out of, because shots of creaky doors swinging open by themselves don’t do anything for me.

Despite its title Boys from County Hell isn’t another backwoods hicksploitation film. It’s actually an Irish horror comedy that pits a road crew against the Emerald Isle’s own species of bloodsucker. Writer/director Chris Baugh (Bad Day for the Cut) has expanded the short he did with co-writer Brendan Mullin to feature-length, and the results definitely don’t suck.

Eugene (Jack Rowan; Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands) lives in Six Mile Hill, a rural Irish town where, according to legend, Bram Stoker got the inspiration for Dracula. Eugene and his buddies S.P. and William (Fra Fee; Monochrome) get a bit of amusement scaring tourists who’ve come to see the cairn that marks the grave of Abhartach the legendary bloodsucker who inspired Stoker.

But all is not well in Eugene’s life.

This month’s home media releases are off to a fun start as a few of my favorite movies from 2020 are headed to Blu-ray and DVD this week—Paul W.S. Anderson’s Monster Hunter and Josh Ruben’s Scare Me. Beyond that, we have a pair of titles from Vinegar Syndrome that genre fans are going to want to pick up on Tuesday—Cthulhu Mansion and Dark Tower—and there are a few other titles being released on March 2nd, too, including Where is She?, Vampire Virus, and the Nicolas Cage Collection.

Get ready for The Barge People, a new horror flick that is coming our way this summer. Rlje Films has revealed that the latest from director Charlie Steeds is set to arrive this August. We also have a trailer for the upcoming horror flick, which features grotesque fish people that appear as though they could have been ripped from the mind of H.P. Lovecraft.

The trailer kicks off with a group of friends getting on a barge for a weekend filled with fun. Things start out nice enough but then an ominous warning turns the tide. As one might expect, this warning is not heeded. Then the fish people come into play. It quickly turns into an action-packed, bloody mess as these friends are forced to try and fight off the creatures.
