The original name of the film, "Petite Fleur", is a known instrumental jazz piece written by Sidney Bechet and recorded by him in January 1952 with the Sidney Bechet All Stars. Every time that the song plays in the film, the protagonist José (Hendler) kills his neighbor Jean Claude (Poupaud) over and over.
