Josh Gad missed out on a role in 'Avatar' because he resembled a "tall, overweight Smurf" in character.The 43-year-old star tried out for a part as a Na'vi in James Cameron's 2009 sci-fi epic but was turned down for the blockbuster as he didn't meet the physical requirements.Josh recalled in his new memoir 'In Gad We Trust': "I put myself on tape and shortly thereafter got a call that Cameron wanted to fly me to Los Angeles for a final callback at his Lightstorm production offices."I apparently did not get (the role) because, while James Cameron was said to be thrilled with my audition, when I was turned into a digital Avatar I supposedly looked like a tall, overweight Smurf."Josh also lent his voice to the loveable snowman Olaf in Disney's hugely successful 'Frozen' movies but regrets using his own dulcet tones...

Josh Gad's new memoir offers some intriguing insight into his career. Along with the highs, the actor shares some of the lower moments, which includes the 2011 comedy Mardi Gras: Spring Break.

In an excerpt from his book, In Gad We Trust, via Entertainment Weekly, the actor explained that he took the role as part of his two-picture deal with Sony and describes it as "the single worst movie I have made - and will hopefully ever make - in my life." Fortunately it wasn't all bad. "I had the time of my life shooting in New Orleans with folks like the magnificent Regina Hall and our ferociously funny writer (and now lifelong friend) Josh Heald," he continued.

The Cobra Kai creator also worked on a time travel movie franchise that has gotten some recent news. The show is co-created by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg. Cobra Kai is a Karate Kid spinoff TV series about Daniel Larusso and Johnny Lawrence becoming martial-arts rivals again years later. It has done very well during its tenure on Netflix so far, where it has had five completed seasons. The last third of Cobra Kai season 6 is set for release on Netflix next year.

All three of its creators have also had careers outside of Cobra Kai, though the Netflix series is arguably their biggest show. All three of them worked on a raunchy comedy series called Obliterated, which was unfortunately nixed by Netflix after a single season. “Movie Journal” would become what the Underground Film Journal would argue was the most significant organizing tool of avant-garde cinema created by Jonas, even more so than the Film-makers’ Cooperative and the Anthology Film Archives he helped found. Well, we don’t have to guess. The book collection Movie Journal doesn’t start reprinting Jonas’s columns until 1959, but the entire archives of the Voice are online.

As a weekly publication, the Voice only published twelve “Movie Journal” columns in 1958. The Underground Film Journal has read all twelve and extracted what films Jonas reviewed each week; as well as made notes of significant avant-garde film happenings.

Laura Dern is playing coy as to whether her Jurassic Park character, Ellie Sattler, will show up in the upcoming Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom movie.

A family of four died in a small plane crash on Saturday while returning to their Tennessee home after a Spring Break vacation at Disney World in Orlando.

The victims have been identified as a 43-year-old female, 14-year-old female, 45-year-old male and 16-year-old male, new emergency management director Don Roybal confirmed to People.

The plane took off from Kissimmee, Florida, at 12:52 p.m. and the accident happened around 2:30 p.m over Hayden, Alabama. Numerous witnesses reported debris falling out of the sky that landed across five fields that stretched across almost a mile, according to multiple reports.

A mysterious streaming platform called Blackpills has, per Deadline, now committed to distributing a scripted micro-episodic series based on Harmony Korine’s 2012 hyper-stylized meditation of life, love and spring break that starred James Franco, Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens.

The production company behind Spring Breakers, Fernando Sulichin and Chris Hanley’s Muse Productions (Buffalo ’66, Virgin Suicides), are more than thrilled. The Trump Administration’s new ban on carry-on electronic devices on some international flights has left many wondering why certain devices and airports are being targeted, and why carry-on and checked luggage are treated differently.

Passengers traveling on foreign airlines to the U.S. from 10 airports in eight majority-Muslim countries will be required to place all personal electronic devices larger than a cell phone into checked bags. That includes laptops, tablets, iPads and electronic games. The rules took effect Tuesday, and airlines have 96 hours to implement them.

Spring break forever, indeed. After James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, and Rachel Korine took us on a vacation like no other in Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers a few years back, the adventure will continue. Plans have been announced for a new project based on the 2013 hit, but it will be taking a different format than a big-screen follow-up.

Deadline reports that the original film’s producers Chris Hanley and Fernando Sulichin will be creating a digital series based off the film, but Korine — who is kicking off production this summer on The Beach Bum starring Matthew McConaughey — will not be involved. The series, one of four scripted shows coming to the soon-to-be-launched Blackpills, is currently in its casting stages, which we imagine will feature an all-new ensemble.

Two new red-band TV spots and a new poster have been released for the Harmony Korine-directed film Spring Breakers, which stars Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine, and a crazy James Franco. It looks like everyone kind of goes insane in this movie. From what I've heard the movie is supposed to be really good. I've aso included a couple of behind-the-scenes videos as well.

This is the movie in which we see see Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson, and Rachel Korine, shed their good girl personas and go bad. It also looks like James Franco gives the craziest performance of his career, and this trailer focuses on that. Here's the first two trailers for the sexy new crime thriller called Spring Breakers. I'm sure you remember the posters from the film that were released about a week ago featuring James Franco and a group of Disney girls gone wild - Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine, and Vanessa Hudgens. I had no idea what to really expect for this movie, but it definitely looks interesting. One thing for sure is Franco is crazy in this! Due to current events in the world there's a few things in it that might rub someone the wrong way like the line... "pretend it's video game" when they are talking about going on a robbery spree.
