Ryan Reynolds, Taylor Sheridan and John Krasinski Among Hitmakers Paramount Skydance Needs to Keep Happy
Image
David Ellison finally has his prize.

On Thursday, the Skydance Media founder closed the $8 billion merger with Paramount Global that he orchestrated, enduring political turbulence and skepticism about the viability of the company’s TV and movie empire for over a year. In order for the deal to pay off, Ellison, who will serve as chairman and CEO of the newly rechristened Paramount Skydance, must maintain strong partnerships with the creative community. Before the sale, Paramount has lacked the financial resources of competitors like Disney and Netflix, but it has been the home of top talent. Keeping them happy and busy cooking up ideas for new film, TV and streaming franchises will be critically important if Paramount Skydance wants to outmaneuver other studios.

On the film front, look for the new regime to try to maintain or even extend some crucial first-look deals as Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg, who will oversee the studio,...

The new audio series will be available for streaming on all major podcast platforms later this year.

History remembers Khan Noonien Singh as a villain, the product of a failed attempt to perfect humanity through genetic engineering whose quest to avenge himself on Admiral James T. Kirk led to unimaginable tragedy and loss. But the truth...

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds & Lower Decks Crossover's Live-Action Boimler Figure Up for Pre-Order
Image
Star Trek: Lower Decksmay have ended its five-year run, but collectors will soon be able to own a version of two of the most famous “Lower Deckers.” Per StarTrek.com, collectible figure company Exo-6, known for their museum-grade 1/6-scale figures, has crafted both a Bradward Boimler and a Beckett Mariner figure, based on their live-action characters in the crossover episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Season 2 episode “Those Old Scientists.”

In Season 2, Episode 7 of Strange New Worlds, Ensigns Boimler (Jack Quaid) and Mariner (Tawny Newsome) are thrust through a time portal back to the 23rd century and end up aboard Captain Christopher Pike’s (Anson Mount) U.S.S. ‘Star Trek: Lower Decks’ Final Season Trailer Promises Interstellar Chaos as Animated Series Comes to a Close
Image
Paramount+ has debuted the trailer for the fifth and final season of the animated comedy “Star Trek: Lower Decks.” The first two episodes will premiere on Thursday Oct. 24 on the Paramount + streaming service.

The 10-episode season produced by CBS Studios will drop every Thursday from its release date through to Dec. 19.

In this season the crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos must close all “space potholes,” which are subspace rifts unleashing chaos into the Alpha Quadrant. This combined with their ongoing diplomatic problems leaves them with a rather full plate as junior officers Mariner, Boimer, Tendui and Rutherford deal with: an Orion war, furious Klingons, diplomatic catastrophes, murder mysteries and their own ambitions.

The “Star Trek” franchise remains a priority at Paramount under the purview of franchise shepherd Alex Kurtzman. Even with “Lower Decks” ending, the company has the third season of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” in the works,...

“I can’t believe I get to play the captain of the Enterprise.”

Anson Mount is sitting across from me on one of the Toronto soundstages for the Paramount+ series “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds,” which is set in the years when his character, Capt. Christopher Pike, led the legendary Federation starship with a young Spock and Uhura. We’re speaking on the sleek Enterprise bridge, and Mount is recounting the out-of-body experience he had the first time he sat in the iconic captain’s chair. “I had this immediate flashback to playing ‘Star Trek’ as a kid,” he says. “I don’t think a day goes by where I don’t at some point stop and think to myself, ‘I’m on fucking “Star Trek.”’”

Star Trek: Section 31 | Filming begins on the movie, starring Michelle Yeoh
Michelle Yeoh and Sophy Holland in Star Trek: Section 31 (2025)
Filming has officially begun on Star Trek: Section 31, a straight-to-Paramount+ movie starring Michelle Yeoh and other actors.

Some five years after it was initially announced, Star Trek: Section 31 has officially gone into production, with Michelle Yeo set to reprise the role of Terran emperor Philippa Georgiou. It’s a role Yeoh first brought to the screen in the first season of Star Trek: Discovery – in fact, Star Trek: Section 31 was originally envisioned as a TV show before the decision was made to retool it as a straight-to-streaming movie.

Deadline reports that lots of other familiar-name actors are joining Yeoh as filming gets underway. Among them you’ll find Power’s Omari Hardwick, Ted Lasso's Sam Richardson, Pacific Rim's Robert Kazinsky, and Hannibal’s Kacey Rahl.

The film will explore the titular Section 31 – a kind of sci-fi covert ops outfit that carries out ethically questionable missions...

Star Trek Producers Reveal Film Series Idea
Image
Six seasons and a movie! Before Community made that phrase its mantra, it belonged to Star Trek… sorta. The release of The Motion Picture vindicated fans of The Original Series, who only grew in number after the show’s cancellation after three seasons in 1969. So successful were those films that the Star Trek: The Next Generation films were a foregone conclusion, with Star Trek: Generations going into production before the seventh and final season finished airing.

Outside of Tos and Tng, no other Trek series has gone onto the big screen, and Star Trek: Prodigy seems the least likely to break that streak. After all, the series was reportedly canceled and was ignominiously removed from Paramount+, the so-called “Home of Star Trek.” And yet, the show’s producers told attendees at Star Trek: Las Vegas that hope is not gone for the plucky animated series.

According to TrekMovie, producers Kevin Hageman and Dan Hageman,...

Why Final Fantasy 16's Chronolith Trial Locations Aren't Working Yet
Image
Fitting its status as an expansive RPG, Final Fantasy 16 has a large amount of side content, including its Eikon-based Chronolith Trials, which can be found in various places throughout the game's maps - although players might not actually be able to access them as soon as they're found. Like most of FF16's other optional content, the Chronolith Trials center around the game's action-oriented combat, testing a player's abilities to effectively string together abilities to take out waves of enemies.

Resembling optional trials from other action games, such as the secret missions of Devil May Cry, there are seven Chronolith Trial locations in FF16, each one corresponding to one of the game's Eikons (except for Ifrit). As such, each Chronolith Trial will limit Clive's moveset, only allowing the use of preset moves, which must be used to defeat multiple waves of enemies and one boss within a certain time limit.

CBS Opens Writers Room For ‘The Great Game’ Spy Drama From John Hlavin, Matthew Newman & Secret Hideout
Image
Exclusive: CBS has set up a writers room for drama The Great Game, produced by CBS Studios in association with Alex Kurtzman’s studio-based Secret Hideout. It will be led by the project’s co-writers/executive producers John Hlavin (The Man Who Fell to Earth) and Matthew Newman (Chicago Pd) with the goal of generating multiple scripts for a potential straight-to-series order.

The Great Game, inspired by an unpublished novel of the same name by Newman, is the second CBS drama project from the 2021-22 development cycle that the network has put on a script-to-series path by commissioning a writers room; it joins Hsi: Puerto Rico. I hear the purpose of the model is to find dramas that can bypass the pilot stage and go to series which can be produced cost-effectively.

Like its counterparts, CBS has been exploring alternatives to the traditional broadcast development model, a process that was accelerated by the pandemic.

‘Star Trek’ Universe Expands on Paramount+ — Plus, ‘Section 31’ Spinoff Update
Image
It seems that Star Trek could be another universe with a series set in college (following The Boys one ordered to series and the Arrowverse one in the works). Paramount+ has a new series, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, in the works from CBS Studios and Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout, Deadline reports. It would be “set among the college of cadets mentored for leadership roles in the United Federation of Planets space force.” This news comes after Star Trek: Discovery‘s Sylvia Tilly (Mary Wiseman) left the crew to teach at the Starfleet Academy after leading a training exercise that went wrong earlier this season (pictured above). But it should be noted that no details have been revealed as to when this new potential series would take place, and Discovery is now in the future. As for another Star Trek series in the works at Paramount+, the Section 31 series with...
