Like it or not, Adam Sandler is among the most successful movie stars of the last three decades and has remarkably been able to make films that have resonated with multiple generations of comedy fans. While many former alumni of “Saturday Night Live” struggled to develop film careers, Sandler developed his own brand of ridiculous comedies, which led to the development of Happy Madison Productions. Despite the scathing reviews that many of his films earned from critics during their initial release windows, several have grown cult fandom from those who grew up with them. Sandler was also ahead of the game when it came to the profitability of streaming, as he was among the first Hollywood stars to sign a deal with Netflix.
Sandler has certainly been known to phone it in, as films like “Grown Ups,” “Little Nicky,” “Blended,” and “Jack and Jill” rank among the worst comedies of the 21st century.

Saint Clare, the 2024 thriller from director Mitzi Peirone and co-writer Guinevere Turner, investigates the mind of a seemingly ordinary teenager turned serial killer. Based on Don Roff’s novel Clare At 16, the film stars Bella Thorne as Clare Bleecker, a devout Catholic school pupil whose veneer of piety conceals a sociopathic alter ego. 101 Films has acquired the UK rights and will release the film on digital from 21 July 2025.
Thorne is joined by Rebecca De Mornay as Clare’s steely grandmother, Ryan Phillippe as Timmons, a local boy drawn into Clare’s deadly orbit, and Frank Whaley as Mailman Bob, whose fateful deliveries set Clare on her path. Bart Johnson doubles as the twin brothers Joe and Randall, while Dylan Flashner and Jan Luis Castellanos play the town’s unsuspecting youth caught in Clare’s murderous crusade.
Saint Clare premiered at FrightFest 2024 in London, where critics noted its blend of psychological tension and grisly set pieces.

Drew Barrymore says she is ready to saddle up with Adam Sandler yet again for another film, adding that the pair have been on the search for the right story as they are now past their 10-year deadline.
“That’s a yes, and it’s a matter of when. But I don’t think it’ll be too long because we’ve always done something every 10 years,” Barrymore told her “The Drew Barrymore Show” audience on Wednesday. “We’re running out of time; we’re past 10 years at this point.”
Barrymore and Sandler have starred in three films together: “The Wedding Singer” in 1998, “50 First Dates” in 2004 and “Blended” in 2014.
“We’re constantly seeing each other and hanging out, so I think it’s always a matter of, ‘What is it?’ So we’re on the search for it because we’re happy when we’re together,” Barrymore, who shared...

Adam Sandler was the king of comedy in Hollywood, churning out a slew of experimental films like Click, Grown Ups, and Mr. Deeds. His teaming up with Drew Barrymore also resulted in two successes, namely 50 First Dates and The Wedding Singer.

2025 is in full swing, and with March just around the corner, it’s time for you to look ahead at the movies and series scheduled to depart Netflix throughout the month of March. The biggest notable TV series leaving is The Mindy Project, while hit films like Scooby-Doo and Love Again, among others, are also set to depart.
As always, Netflix’s library is constantly evolving. That means new titles are always on the way, but because Netflix licenses titles from big distributors, they’re not always on Netflix forever. When this license (or rental period) comes to an end, the movie or series leaves Netflix.
Note: This list will be constantly updated throughout February as we learn of more series and movies set to leave (typically 30 days before their departure). In the last few weeks of the month, Netflix...

Adam Sandler buried a little Easter egg in his birthday message for Drew Barrymore’s 50th. The “Happy Gilmore” and “Uncut Gems” star dropped a reference to “The Wedding Singer” in his video message that was shown on Friday’s episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show.”
“I just want to tell you happy birthday from all of us. Fifty years you’ve been on this planet, making it so much better. We are so happy to have you on planet Earth. We all love you, we all think you’re the sweetest — everybody I know does,” Sandler said in his video, which was posted on the show’s Instagram feed. “Happy, happy birthday. All of us want to grow old with you, and we will. So you keep being you, Drew, and making us all feel excited about life.”

Despite releasing at the end of 2023, one of 2024's biggest sleeper hits at the box office was "Anyone But You," a romantic-comedy starring Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney as former lovers who cross paths at a destination wedding and pretend to be a couple in order to placate their respective families. Given the film's financial success, it shows a potential bright future for the rom-com genre, which in recent years has struggled to have the success it once had throughout the 2000s with hits like "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" and "Knocked Up."
Thanks to "Anyone But You," there are a lot of audiences with a renewed interest in satiating their desire for a raunchy, laugh-out-loud rom-com, especially ones with the hard-to-resist enemies-to-lovers trope, a disastrous wedding, or perhaps a reinterpretation a well-known story in the modern era. Drew Barrymore is taking her Instagram followers on a trip down memory lane to celebrate the 21st anniversary of her beloved rom-com 50 First Dates. On Instagram, Barrymore shared a sweet throwback from the film, featuring co-star Adam Sandler. The 2004 movie, directed by Peter Segal, follows Barrymore's Lucy Whitmore, a woman with short-term memory loss. Sandler's Henry Roth had the romantic (and unique) task of making her fall in love with him again and again... and again. Barrymore's Instagram post, captioned "Throwing it back" with a tag for Sandler, features the pair in costume from the iconic scene where Henry serenades Lucy with "Forgetful Lucy."

50 First Dates landed in theaters on February 13, 2004, and was a box office success, grossing nearly $200 million worldwide. While it didn't exactly impress critics (the film holds a 45% rating on Rotten Tomatoes), the chemistry between Sandler and Barrymore was undeniable.

Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore's second rom-com together is climbing the streaming chart, as 50 First Dates sits at number five on the Prime Video chart. It's a great Valentine's Day date night movie and has plenty of charm and emotion. The movie follows a vet in Hawaii named Henry (Sandler) who falls for Lucy (Barrymore) with short-term memory loss. Basically, she forgets everything that happened the day before when she wakes up.
Her father and brother, played by Blake Clarke and a hilarious Sean Astin, are very protective of Lucy. Since she's "stuck" in the day she lost her memory in an accident, they attempt to play along with the idea that she wasn't in an accident. But love blooms between Henry and Lucy, despite his having to woo her constantly.
The film opened 21 years ago, on Feb. 13, 2004, just in time for Valentine's Day, and became an instant crowd-pleaser...

Actors who got their start on Disney Channel have starred in plenty of entertaining films over the years. The accomplished children's channel is known to produce some notable names in Hollywood, with many of the most well-known Disney Channel stars leading successful careers after their time with the channel was up. Drew Barrymore has revealed the surprisingly dramatic original ending to one of her and Adam Sandlers most beloved movies. Barrymore and Sandler first demonstrated their intoxicating chemistry in 2004s romantic comedy 50 First Dates, and to celebrate the movies 20th anniversary, Barrymore revealed on The Drew Barrymore Show how the story almost ended on a very downbeat note.
In a surprising series of revelations, Barrymore revealed that the rom-com classic was initially titled 50 First Kisses and describes the project as a drama set in Seattle. But the most surprising reveal is the original ending, which would not have given Barrymores Lucy Whitmore, who suffers from short-term memory loss after an accident, and Sandlers Henry Roth the happily ever after that audiences wanted.
Something that always sticks in my mind is the original ending of 50 First Kisses, as it was called at the time. Yeah, it was a drama set in Seattle.

Blended is Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore's worst movie. Thankfully, Sandler and Barrymore are open to working together again. The Wedding Singer is the duo's best film.
Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore starred in the 2014 rom-com Blended, and given that it is their worst movie together, I desperately need them to make another film so that Blended is not their final one. Sandler and Barrymore have played love interests in three movies over the course of their acting careers, making them a notable duo in Hollywood. Given that they keep on making movies together, it stands to reason that Sandler and Barrymore have a good working relationship, which has resulted in fantastic chemistry and is why many seem to love their onscreen partnership.

Saint Clare is a haunting, blood-soaked thriller set for its UK premiere in August at London’s FrightFest. Bella Thorne delivers an outstanding performance as the eponymous lead in a spiritually charged small-town tale in which American Psycho meets Joan of Arc.
In a small town, a solitary young woman is haunted by voices that lead her to assassinate people with bad intentions who think they can get away with it. But her last kill changes everything and sucks her headlong down a rabbit hole riddled with corruption, trafficking and twisted visions from the beyond. Can Saint Clare save herself from unimaginable terror as her pursuit for retribution takes a dangerous turn, carrying her deep into an unknown hell?
Based on a novel by Don Roff, the film is expertly helmed by award-winning Italian director Mitzi Peirone (Braid) who co-wrote the screenplay with Guinevere Turner (American Psycho). The stellar cast also includes Ryan Philippe,...

Written and directed by Colin Krisel and James Krisel (Last Moment of Clarity), Falling centers on Jack (Apa), who while quick-witted, charming, and avoidant, finally risks opening his heart when he starts dating Jillian. When it comes to the rom-com genre, few scene-partners have ruled the screen quite as well as Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. With classics such as The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates, and Blended under their belt, its no wonder why. Each film blends Sandlers signature slapstick comedy with some super cute romance elements to create the perfect rom-com. And it just so happens that one of those rom-coms was based, at least partly, on a true story. That film is none other than 2004s 50 First Dates. Its a favorite among fans of the genre for good reason. Despite a premise that feels far-fetched, the movie pulls it off with finesse and crafts a heartwarming story of romance and devotion to the one you love. But as it turns out, the story isnt all that unbelievable, because it was loosely based on a true story.

The Netflix special roasting NFL great Tom Brady made it onto the streaming charts for the week it premiered — despite it only being up for a few hours of that week.
The Roast of Tom Brady racked up 279 million minutes for the week of April 29-May 5, good for 10th place among original series in Nielsen’s rankings. The special streamed live on May 5, meaning it tallied those viewing minutes in under 12 hours. (With a running time of almost three hours, the 279 million minutes equate to about 1.6 million complete runs of the special.)
Bluey moved back into the top overall spot with 1.18 billion minutes of viewing on Disney+, adding to its total as the most streamed title in the United States so far this year (21.73 billion minutes and counting). Fallout, which had led the previous three weeks, slipped to third overall with 1.08 billion minutes of viewing on Prime Video, while Grey’s Anatomy...

Shrek's popularity on Netflix soared, taking the top spot on the streaming chart. Shrek's success on Netflix boosted the viewership of its sequels, including Shrek Forever After. DreamsWorks had little faith in Shrek at first, using it as a punishment project for animators.

Blended is Sandler & Barrymore's lowest-rated film together, receiving only 15% on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite flaws, Blended is not actively bad & highlights the solid chemistry between the stars. The Wedding Singer remains the best Sandler & Barrymore collaboration, showcasing their compatibility.
Blended is one of three movies Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore starred in together and is often regarded as the worst of the lot. While Sandler's films have rarely been critical darlings (with exceptions like Uncut Gems and Punch-Drunk Love standing out more as a result), some have garnered particularly harsh words from critics. This includes Blended, Adam Sandler's movie with Drew Barrymore where the two play recently single parents who find themselves increasingly pushed together during a trip to Africa.
Even when compared to the mixed reception of their prior collaboration 50 First Dates, Blended suffered from several negative critical reviews that focused on the boring and low-key offensive elements of the movie.

Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton entering into a unique arrangement, J.Lo fighting evil artificial intelligence, the roasting of an NFL legend, a retelling of the invention of the Pop Tart, Brooke Shields and Benjamin Bratt at war and John Mulaney’s six-night live comedy event from Los Angeles are some of the big titles hitting Netflix in May.
Debuting on May 3 is Jerry Seinfeld’s directorial debut, Unfrosted. The comedy legend works both sides of the camera for this humorous feature take on the birth of the Pop Tart. The movie is set in 1963 as breakfast cereal giants Kellogg’s and Post compete to become the first company to create a morning pastry. As summer approaches (for the Northern Hemisphere at least), Netflix is set to premiere a fresh season of one of its biggest hits.
Brigerton season 3 is set to arrive on May 16 and will debut a “new crop of debutantes” into the regency drama fray. Other original series of note this month include Indian drama Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar (May 1), the Jeff Daniels-starring A Man in Full (May 2), and intriguing Korean title The 8 Show (May 17). Of course, Netflix is also rolling out a suite of true crime docs and docuseries as well. Chief among those options is Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal on May 15.
It’s the movie side of things where Netflix is feeling particularly lively though. May 3 sees the arrival of Jerry Seinfeld Pop Tart comedy Unfrosted. That will be followed by rom-com Mother of the Bride (May 9) and the Jennifer Lopez-starring Atlas (May 24).

It’s season finale time for networks, but Netflix, naturally, still has plenty of brand new TV and shows coming in May.
Jeff Daniels makes his TV return in the David E. Kelley series “A Man in Full.” That six-episode series is based on the bestselling book of the same name by Tom Wolfe. Per a press release: “When Atlanta real estate mogul Charlie Croker faces sudden bankruptcy, political and business interests collide as Charlie defends his empire from those attempting to capitalize on his fall from grace.” The series will also star Tom Pelphrey, Diane Lane, Lucy Liu, William Jackson Harper, Aml Ameen, Sarah Jones, Jon Michael Hill and Chanté Adams.
Additionally, comedy fans can get excited for a new special series from John Mulaney. The comedian is hosting a multi-night event, “John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA,” that looks to be part interview show and part man-on-the-street hijinks.

Update: It looks like Christopher McDonald was right about Adam Sandler working on the script for Happy Gilmore. Sandler’s fave co-star and longtime pal Drew Barrymore confirmed, in a clip from today’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, that the sequel is indeed happening. “I want it. I need it. And I stayed up last night with my daughter watching Billy Madison,” says Barrymore, adding later, “I’ll just say this, from my source, that it is in process.”
Barrymore famously starred with Sandler in three movies, The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates and Blended. The two have remained close over the years, with Sandman frequently turning up on her show. While he’s mostly focused on drama recently, including the recent Netflix film Spaceman, Happy Gilmore 2 would likely be warmly received by fans, especially if co-stars Christopher McDonald and Julie Bowen return.

Adam Sandler’s movies have their fair share of lovers and haters. The Sandman’s films are popular among some sections of the audience. Despite making some subpar films, everyone seems to root for the actor. However, Sandler revealed that he was never approached by big studios like Marvel to play a role in their films. He also has no hope that the opportunity will ever come in his career.

“Drishyam,” a hit Indian thriller in which an ordinary man confounds the police in order to protect his family, is to be re-made in English. Production is by India’s Panorama Studios with U.S. companies Gulfstream Pictures and Joat Films.
The film was first made in 2013 in the Malayalam language, before being remade in Hindi with Ajay Devgn and Tabu in the lead roles in 2015. It earned itself a Hindi sequel “Drishyam 2,” in 2022, that grossed some $43 million worldwide.
Panorama, which produced the Hindi version for Viacom18 Motion Pictures, has acquired the international remake rights to “Drishyam 1 & 2” from the original producers, Aashirvad Cinemas, and is settling up multiple international versions. A Korean remake with Anthology Studios was announced in May last year, while Panorama says that a development deal for a Spanish language retread is also close to being finalized.

Fans of the film industry are divided when it comes to Adam Sandler. You either really enjoy his movies or you simply don’t. There is no in-between. The actor is mainly known for his work in the comedy genre, especially romcoms which make us all giddy on the inside. Sure, the critics are not huge fans of Adam Sandler’s movies, but we as an audience have to agree that the films can be wholesome to watch!
Adam Sandler in Blended (2014)
However, comedy is not all that Adam Sandler does. He has worked in drama films as well, including Uncut Gems and Hustle, the latter of which earned Adam Sandler his very first SAG Awards nomination. In fact, his most recent film, Spaceman, sees the actor take on the dramatic role of an astronaut going through a crumbling marriage with his wife. One of comedy's most recognizable icons, Adam Sandler has had a wildly successful acting career that includes some of the highest highs, but also the lowest lows. At his worst, he's needlessly raunchy and distasteful. With such a vast filmography, it can be hard to pinpoint when Sandler is on his A-game. But a cursory glance at his best films and performances leads to one consistent factor: his impeccable chemistry and compatibility with Drew Barrymore. Barrymore and Sandler have co-starred in three films: The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates, and Blended. Each of these films came out in different decades, yet they each feature Adam Sandler at his very best. The pinnacle of Sandler's performances are a product of his own comedic skills,...

Actress Drew Barrymore posted an emotional video for co-star Adam Sandler after re-watching their 1998 rom-com ‘The Wedding Singer’, the first movie they ever starred in together. Drew, 48, was supposed to be heading to a yoga class when she stumbled across ‘The Wedding Singer’ playing on TV. She became so invested in the iconic ’90s rom-com, which she starred in alongside Adam that she wound up sticking around to watch the whole thing.
“It started this morning,” Drew said in an emotional Instagram video, reports eonline.com.
“I was supposed to be heading to yoga class, and I’m taking the next later one so I can watch it.”
The actress, who was visibly tearing up in the clip, then addressed Adam directly, saying, “We made such a good movie. I love you so much. Happy New Year.”
