Following the release of a divisive viral video by Selena Gomez early last week, the Trump Administration has made a brutal clapback at the Only Murders in the Building actress. In a social media post shared by the official White House account, three mothers are seen opening up about how illegal immigrants in the country were responsible for the deaths of their daughters. To emphasize its point, the post tagged Gomez specifically in the message.

Gomez received a lot of backlash for her original post, which opened with her saying, “I’m so sorry. I wish I could do something, but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.” This was in response to the numerous Ice raids that led to the arrest and subsequent deportation of those living illegally in the country, and the promise that border crossings from Mexico will be stopped at all costs.

Update: Filming began today on Disney's live-action Cinderella at London's Pinewood Studios (best known for being the home of all the James Bond movies). Director Kenneth Branaugh (Thor) said in a statement, "It is impossible to think of Cinderella without thinking of Disney and the timeless images we've all grown up watching. The Cinderella model has been twisted to fit anything from sports films to basic dramas, and there’s never any guarantee whether the results will end up being good or even watchable. To that end, Warner Brothers has been chugging along with their A Cinderella Story series, which started with an original starring Hilary Duff and earned itself a theatrical release. Since then, Damon Santostefano has taken over at the helm and now the series only receives a direct-to-dvd debut as it continues to crank out stories taking advantage of each new generation of Disney songstress. Another Cinderella Story had Selena Gomez and now, with the most recent entry A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song, they’ve got Lucy Hale, one talented singer amongst a few in the film, and a final product that entertains the children and is actually watchable by parents. That’s a rare claim for straight-to-video kids’ movies nowadays.

With three revisionist Snow White movies in the works -- all of which reimagine a tougher princess who just doesn't wait on her prince to come -- her fellow fairytale princess Cinderella is the next subject of reimagination. Disney is working on a version with Mark Romanek (who just directed the Fox pilot Locke & Key starring Jesse McCartney). Now, Universal has hired Chronicles of Narnia scribe Ann Peacock to explore what she could do with a new take on the abused stepdaughter who finds her salvation in a prince. Of course, Cinderella has been revamped over and over again in the last decade with some of the movies/TV movies/DVDs including Ella Enchanted, Ever After, A Cinderella Story, Another Cinderella Story,and Cinderella III: A Twist in Time.

The actress and singer best known for her work on the Disney Channel series "Wizards of Waverly Place" and the upcoming "Ramona and Beezus," turns 18 years old today. She has spent most of those 18 years working in the spotlight, as the Texas-born Gomez caught her first break when she was just seven years old. That was when she scored the role of Gianna on "Barney and Friends" for the show's seventh season. The Cinderella story has certainly gotten the live-action treatment before, from the Drew Barrymore/Dougray Scott-starrer Ever After to the tween takes with A Cinderella Story and Another Cinderella Story, but Deadline is now reporting that Disney has taken on a pitch by Aline Brosh McKenna (27 Dresses, The Devil Wears Prada, the upcoming Morning Glory) for a new, live-action Cinderella. It certainly seems that Disney is into whatever Brosh McKenna is selling, because they’ve paid in the seven-figure range for it.

TBS has tapped Breckin Meyer and Mark-Paul Gosselaar as the leads in its hourlong comedy pilot "Franklin & Bash," lifting the contingency off the project.

The cable network also has cast another hourlong pilot, "Glory Daze," with Tim Meadows and Kelly Blatz. They lead a largely young, ensemble cast that includes Julianna Guill, Callard Harris, Matt Bush, Hartley Sawyer and Drew Seeley.

"Bash," from Sony TV, writers Kevin Falls and Bill Chais and producer Jamie Tarses, revolves around Jared Franklin (Meyer) and Steven Bash (Gosselaar), two street lawyers and lifelong friends who, after taking down a white-shoe law firm in a high-profile case, are recruited by the firm's patriarch.
