Really, is this called a comedy?

If this is a comedy, then I am the next president of USA. Germans definitely have a very specific sense of humor, but there is nothing funny in this film. Perhaps, if I was a 45 year old housewife, I would like this film. Three stars for the filmmakers' effort though.

When Life gives you Melons ... you don't make Melonade

If you are not a fan of Til Schweiger and his insistance on making an "actress" out of his daughter ... well I don't think you'll find a lot to like here. What is quite the achievement though: this is able to underperform the first outing - I unfortunately remember that quite well too.

There is almost zero fun in this - unless you have lowered your expectations to a level that they do not exist actually ... we have jokes here that will make you cringe for different reasons. Some because you are or feel woke, some because the movie thinks it is clever by going woke. Playing both sides kind of. Making jokes about gender and marriage cliches - while also trying to put some family drama in there.

Now if there was any actual acting going on ... ok that is too mean. There are some people in this who can actually act. Not that they get too many chances to prove that - script and all that.

But let's circle back to my summary line. Because this is the final nail on the coffin - no pun intended. Because you Shirley are not thinking about marrying this one! Actually you are more likely to shake and hit this like one of the characters is doing with Melons. Something you will hear about in the movie - a scene supposedly being dramatic and romantic, that completely fails on every possible level. Unless you have given up and can laugh about how ridiculous this is ... well I guess from that standpoint ... maybe it is a masterpiece after all ... Just kidding. But go in this on your own peril ... you've been warned.

Schweiger and his daughter hit rock bottom

One of the many embarrassingly bad scenes is when Lilli Schweiger wants to impress her wanna-be-boyfriend: He plays a nice guitar song, then she starts hissing, whizzing and farting trying to imitate a Will-Smith-rap. Wanna-be-boyfriend says "Oh, you've got such skills"... Yeah well, compared to her (non-)acting that might be called a skill... Similarly annoying are the colour and brightness levels of the film (Someone must have been on LSD) ... and then the product placement (no mud on the speckless Mercedes driving into the ditch, Schweiger's restaurant, his beer etc.)...

Just a pity about the other good supporting actors, but they couldn't rescue this awful movie. After a few more scenes I just had to hit the stop. So sorry, I can't review the full movie. But hey, things can only get better from here.

1 STAR. The worst actor-turned-director for 50, Alex...

Who is Til Schweiger! Correct, you've hit the daily double. This film is so disjointed and unfunny that Mr. Schweiger would be well-advised to stick to being in front of the camera...cuz he surely doesn't know what he's doing behind it. And what a sorry excuse for a script!

Like 4 weddings and a funeral but actually funny

This is not a heavy German film about Schicksal (fate destiny) Sehnsucht (longing) Traurigkeit (sadness) although yes that one was there ;Schuld (guilt) was almost not present (ah ok there was a bit); this is a COMEDY we are here to laugh about the serious matters in life and also about adultery BUT mostly this is a light comedic film about LOVE and love pairings about middle-aged folks giving it another go

it is not hifalutin it is definitely in the light-brow evening entertainment bracket

and should be viewed as such

I do not understand the folks who gave it a 1 and even less the one who gave it a 9

This is not a masterpiece neither is it garbage

The acting is excellent although I do not know the names of the main players here I know that I have seen them elsewhere and that they are very good or even excellent

seen some great german comedies before such as Männer (Men )from 1985

and especially Toni Erdmann from 2016

Both highly recommended The film here we are discussing is NOT in that league but still deserves a 6 or a 7

Don't understand the worst reviews

Well entertained sequel, the actors play exactly as they are, when you didn't like the prequel, don't expect something else. I liked both of them, laugh a lot, saw it in original German, typical german Comedy.
