- Katie Whipple: John! Oh, John, I thought I might find you.
- John Barnes: What about your meeting?
- Katie Whipple: Oh, Mr. Hammond, our safety engineer, is in charge now and I wanted to explain.
- John Barnes: I got some explaining to do myself, only you'd never believe it - never in a thousand years. Guess we'd better skip that part of it.
- Katie Whipple: I couldn't let you get away without telling you how splendid you were. Why it all seems like a miracle!
- John Barnes: Don't say that! Don't ever use the word "miracle"!

- [an unseen force shoves Katie into John's arms]
- John Barnes: See? I told you. See what can happen?
